第3章

1 凱撒提庇留在位第十五年，本丟．彼拉多作猶太巡撫，希律作加利利分封的王，他兄弟腓力作以土利亞和特拉可尼地方分封的王，呂撒聶作亞比利尼分封的王，

2 亞那和該亞法作大祭司，神的話臨到撒迦利亞的兒子、在曠野的約翰［the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness］。

3 他就來到約旦河一帶地方，宣講悔改的浸禮，使罪得赦；

4 正如先知以賽亞書上所記的話，說：「在曠野有人聲喊著說：你們當［ye］預備主的道，修直他的路。

5 一切山窪都要填滿，大小山岡都要削平；彎彎曲曲的地方要改為正直，高高低低的道路要改為平坦；

6 凡有血氣的，都要見神的救恩。」

7 約翰就［Then］對那出來要受他浸的眾人說：「毒蛇的族類哪［O generation］，誰曾警戒［hath warned］你們逃避將來的忿怒呢？

8 所以［therefore］，你們要結出與悔改相稱的果子來［fruits worthy of repentance］，始後［begin］不要自己心裏說：『有亞伯拉罕為我們的祖宗。』我告訴你們：『神能從這些石頭中，給亞伯拉罕興起子孫來。』

9 現在斧子也已［also］放在樹根上；凡不結好果子的樹就砍下來，丟在火裏。」

10 百姓［people］問他說：「這樣，我們當作甚麼呢？」

11 約翰回答他們［them］說：「有兩件衣服的，就分給那沒有的；有食物的，也當這樣行。」

12 又有稅吏來要受浸，對他說［said unto him］：「夫子，我們當作甚麼呢？」

13 約翰對他們［unto them］說：「除了給你們［you］例定的數目，不要多取。」

14 兵丁也是這樣［soldiers likewise］問他說：「我們當作甚麼呢？」約翰對他們［unto them］說：「不要以強暴待人，也不要誣告人［accuse any falsely］；自己有錢糧就當知足。」

15 百姓在指望［in expectation］的時候，人都心裏猜疑約翰是基督不是［John, whether he were the Christ, or not］；

16 約翰回答［answered］對眾人［unto them all］說：「我誠然［indeed］是用水給你們施浸；但有一個能力比我更大的要來，我就是給他解鞋帶也不配。他要用聖靈與火給你們施浸。

17 他手裏拿著簸箕，要簸［purge］淨他的場，把麥子收在他的倉［his garner］；至於糠秕，他要用不滅的火焚燒［but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable］。」

18 約翰又用許多別的話勸百姓，向他們傳講［preached］。

19 只是分封的王希律，因他兄弟腓力［Philip's］之妻希羅底的緣故，並因他所行的一切惡事，受了約翰的責備，

20 又另外添了一件，就是把約翰收在監裏。

21 眾百姓都受了浸，耶穌也受了浸，正禱告的時候，天就開了，

22 聖靈降臨在他身上，形狀彷彿鴿子，又有聲音從天上來，說：「你是我的愛子；我喜悅你。」

23 耶穌開頭傳道，年紀約有三十歲，（依人看來）他是約瑟的兒子，約瑟是希里的兒子，

24 希里是瑪塔的兒子，瑪塔是利未的兒子，利未是麥基的兒子，麥基是雅拿的兒子，雅拿是約瑟的兒子，

25 約瑟是瑪他提亞的兒子；瑪他提亞是亞摩斯的兒子；亞摩斯是拿鴻的兒子；拿鴻是以斯利的兒子；以斯利是拿該的兒子；

26 拿該是瑪押的兒子，瑪押是瑪他提亞的兒子，瑪他提亞是西美的兒子，西美是約瑟的兒子，約瑟是猶大的兒子，猶大是約亞拿的兒子，

27 約亞拿是利撒的兒子，利撒是所羅巴伯的兒子，所羅巴伯是撒拉鐵的兒子，撒拉鐵是尼利的兒子，尼利是麥基的兒子，

28 麥基是亞底的兒子，亞底是哥桑的兒子，哥桑是以摩當的兒子，以摩當是珥的兒子，珥是約細的兒子，

29 約細是以利以謝的兒子，以利以謝是約令的兒子，約令是瑪塔的兒子，瑪塔是利未的兒子，

30 利未是西緬的兒子，西緬是猶大的兒子，猶大是約瑟的兒子，約瑟是約南的兒子，約南是以利雅敬的兒子，

31 以利雅敬是米利亞的兒子，米利亞是買南的兒子，買南是瑪達他的兒子，瑪達他是拿單的兒子，拿單是大衛的兒子，

32 大衛是耶西的兒子，耶西是俄備得的兒子，俄備得是波阿斯的兒子，波阿斯是撒門的兒子，撒門是拿順的兒子，

33 拿順是亞米拿達的兒子，亞米拿達是亞蘭的兒子，亞蘭是希斯崙的兒子，希斯崙是法勒斯的兒子，法勒斯是猶大的兒子，

34 猶大是雅各的兒子，雅各是以撒的兒子，以撒是亞伯拉罕的兒子，亞伯拉罕是他拉的兒子，他拉是拿鶴的兒子，

35 拿鶴是西鹿的兒子，西鹿是拉吳的兒子，拉吳是法勒的兒子，法勒是希伯的兒子，希伯是沙拉的兒子，

36 沙拉是該南的兒子，該南是亞法撒的兒子，亞法撒是閃的兒子，閃是挪亞的兒子，挪亞是拉麥的兒子，

37 拉麥是瑪土撒拉的兒子，瑪土撒拉是以諾的兒子，以諾是雅列的兒子，雅列是瑪勒列的兒子，瑪勒列是該南的兒子，該南是以挪士的兒子，

38 以挪士是塞特的兒子，塞特是亞當的兒子，亞當是神的兒子。

Chapter 3

1 IN the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, during the governorship of Pontius Pilate in Judaea, when Herod was tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanius tetrarch of Abilene,

2 During the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John, son of Zacharias, in the wilderness.

3 And he came throughout the country around Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins;

4 As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, who said, The voice which calls in the wilderness, Prepare the way of the Lord, make the paths of our God straight in the plain.

5 Let all the valleys be filled up, and all the mountains and hills be levelled; let the crooked places be made straight, and the rough places like a plain;

6 And let every flesh see the salvation of God.

7 And he said to the people, who were coming to him to be baptized, O offspring of scorpions, who has warned you to escape from the anger which is coming?

8 Therefore bring forth fruits which are worthy of repentance; and do not begin to say within yourselves, We have Abraham as our father; for I say to you that God can raise up children for Abraham from these stones.

9 Behold, the axe is already placed at the root of the trees; therefore every tree which bears not good fruits will be cut down and dropped in the fire.

10 And the people asked him saying, What then shall we do?

11 He answered and said to them, He who has two shirts, let him give to him who has not; and he who has food, let him do likewise.

12 And there came also publicans to be baptized, and they said to him, Teacher, what shall we do?

13 He said to them, Do not exact anything more over what is commanded you to exact.

14 And the soldiers also asked him saying, What shall we do? And he said to them, Do not molest any man, and do not despise any man; your own wages should be enough for you.

15 While the people were placing their hope on John, and all of them were thinking in their hearts, that perhaps he is the Christ;

16 John answered and said to them, Behold, I baptize you with water; but one is coming after me, who is greater than I, the strings of whose shoes I am not worthy to untie; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire;

17 He holds a shovel in his hand, and purifies his threshing; the wheat he gathers into his barns, and the straw he burns in the unquenchable fire.

18 Many other things also, he taught and preached to the people.

19 Now Herod the tetrarch, because he was rebuked by John concerning Herodias wife of Philip his brother, and for all the evil things that he was doing,

20 Added this also to them all, that he put John into prison.

21 It came to pass when all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized, and while he prayed the heaven was opened,

22 And the Holy Spirit descended on him, like a dove, and a voice from heaven, saying, You are my beloved Son, with whom I am pleased.

23 Now Jesus was about thirty years old, and he was supposed to be the son of Joseph, the son of Heli,

24 The son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph,

25 The son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Esli, the son of Naggai,

26 The son of Maath, the son of Mattathias, the son of Semei, the son of Joseph, the son of Juda,

27 The son of John, the son of Rhesa, the son of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, the son of Neri,

28 The son of Melchi, the son of Addi, the son of Kosam, the son of Elmodad, the son of Er,

29 The son of Jose, the son of Eliezer, the son of Jorim, the son of Mattitha, the son of Levi,

30 The son of Simon, the son of Juda, the son of Joseph, the son of Jonan, the son of Eliakim,

31 The son of Melea, the son of Mani, the son of Matta, the son of Nathan, the son of David,

32 The son of Jesse, the son of Obed, the son of Boaz, the son of Salmon, the son of Nahshon,

33 The son of Aminadab, the son of Aram, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Juda,

34 The son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor,

35 The son of Serug, the son of Arau, the son of Peleg, the son of Eber, the son of Shalah,

36 The son of Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, the son of Shem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech,

37 The son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalaleel, the son of Cainan,

38 The son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, who was of God.

20 又另外添了一件，就是把約翰收在監裏。	20 Added this also to them all, that he put John into prison.
21 眾百姓都受了浸，耶穌也受了浸，正禱告的時候，天就開了，	21 It came to pass when all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized, and while he prayed the heaven was opened,
