Proverbs

Chapter 24

1 Be not408 thou envious7065 against evil7451 men,376 neither408 desire183 to be1961 with854 them.

2 For3588 their heart3820 studieth1897 destruction,7701 and their lips8193 talk1696 of mischief.5999

3 Through wisdom2451 is a house1004 built;1129 and by understanding8394 it is established: 3559

4 And by knowledge1847 shall the chambers2315 be filled4390 with all3605 precious3368 and pleasant5273 riches.1952

5 A wise2450 man1397 is strong;5797 yea, a man376 of knowledge1847 increaseth553 strength.3581

6 For3588 by wise counsel8458 thou shalt make6213 thy war:4421 and in multitude7230 of counselors3289 there is safety.8668

7 Wisdom2454 is too high7311 for a fool:191 he openeth6605 not3808 his mouth6310 in the gate.8179

8 He that deviseth2803 to do evil7489 shall be called7121 a mischievous4209 person.1167

9 The thought2154 of foolishness200 is sin:2403 and the scorner3887 is an abomination8441 to men.120

10 If thou faint7503 in the day3117 of adversity,6869 thy strength3581 is small.6862

11 If518 thou forbear2820 to deliver5337 them that are drawn3947 unto death,4194 and those that are ready4131 to be slain;2027

12 If3588 thou sayest,559 Behold,2005 we knew3045 it2088 not;3808 doth not3808 he that pondereth8505 the heart3820 consider995 it? and he that keepeth5341 thy soul,5315 doth not he1931 know3045 it? and shall not he render7725 to every man120 according to his works?6467

13 My son,1121 eat398 thou honey,1706 because3588 it is good;2896 and the honeycomb,5317 which is sweet4966 to5921 thy taste: 2441

14 So3651 shall the knowledge3045 of wisdom2451 be unto thy soul:5315 when518 thou hast found4672 it, then there shall be3426 a reward,319 and thy expectation8615 shall not3808 be cut off.3772

15 Lay not wait,408 693 O wicked7563 man, against the dwelling5116 of the righteous;6662 spoil7703 not408 his resting place: 7258

16 For3588 a just6662 man falleth5307 seven7651 times, and riseth up again:6965 but the wicked7563 shall fall3782 into mischief.7451

17 Rejoice8055 not408 when thine enemy341 falleth,5307 and let not408 thine heart3820 be glad1523 when he stumbleth: 3782

18 Lest6435 the LORD3068 see7200 it, and it displease7489 5869 him, and he turn away7725 his wrath639 from4480 5921 him.

19 Fret not thyself408 2734 because of evil7489 men, neither408 be thou envious7065 at the wicked;7563

20 For3588 there shall be1961 no3808 reward319 to the evil7451 man; the candle5216 of the wicked7563 shall be put out.1846

21 My son,1121 fear3372 thou853 the LORD3068 and the king:4428 and meddle6148 not408 with5973 them that are given to change: 8138

22 For3588 their calamity343 shall rise6965 suddenly;6597 and who4310 knoweth3045 the ruin6365 of them both?8147

23 These428 things also1571 belong to the wise.2450 It is not1077 good2896 to have respect5234 of persons6440 in judgment.4941

24 He that saith559 unto the wicked,7563 Thou859 art righteous;6662 him shall the people5971 curse,5344 nations3816 shall abhor2194 him:

25 But to them that rebuke3198 him shall be delight,5276 and a good2896 blessing1293 shall come935 upon5921 them.

26 Every man shall kiss5401 his lips8193 that giveth7725 a right5228 answer.1697

27 Prepare3559 thy work4399 without,2351 and make it fit6257 for thyself in the field;7704 and afterwards310 build1129 thine house.1004

28 Be1961 not408 a witness5707 against thy neighbor7453 without cause;2600 and deceive6601 not with thy lips.8193

29 Say559 not,408 I will do6213 so3651 to him as834 he hath done6213 to me: I will render7725 to the man376 according to his work.6467

30 I went5674 by5921 the field7704 of the slothful,6102 376 and by5921 the vineyard3754 of the man120 void2638 of understanding;3820

31 And, lo,2009 it was all3605 grown over5927 with thorns,7063 and nettles2738 had covered3680 the face6440 thereof, and the stone68 wall1444 thereof was broken down.2040

32 Then I595 saw,2372 and considered it well:7896 3820 I looked7200 upon it, and received3947 instruction.4148

33 Yet a little4592 sleep,8142 a little4592 slumber,8572 a little4592 folding2264 of the hands3027 to sleep: 7901

34 So shall thy poverty7389 come935 as one that traveleth;1980 and thy want4270 as an armed4043 man.376
