羅馬書

第3章

1 這樣說來,猶太人有甚麼長處?割禮有甚麼益處呢?

2 凡事大有好處;第一要緊的[chiefly],是因為[because]神的聖言交託他們。

3 即便有不信的,這有何妨呢?難道他們的不信就廢掉神的信嗎?

4 [God]斷乎不能。不如說,神是真實的,人都是虛謊的。如經上所記:你責備人的時候,顯為公義;被人議論的時候,可以得勝。

5 (我且照著人的常話說)我們的不義若顯出神的義來,我們可以怎麼說呢?神施行報應[taketh vengeance],是他不義嗎?

6 [God]斷乎不是。若是這樣,神怎能審判世界呢?

7 若神的真理[the truth],因我的虛謊越發顯出他的榮耀,為甚麼我還受審判,好像罪人呢?

8 為甚麼不說,我們可以作惡以成善呢?(這是毀謗我們的人說我們有這話。)這等人受咒詛[damnation]是該當的。

9 這卻怎麼樣呢?我們比他們強麼?決不是的。因我們已經證明,猶太人和外邦人[Gentiles]都在罪惡之下。

10 就如經上所記:沒有義人,連一個也沒有。

11 沒有明白的;沒有尋求神的;

12 都是偏離正路,一同變為無用。沒有行善的,連一個也沒有。

13 他們的喉嚨是敞開的墳墓;他們用舌頭弄詭詐,嘴唇裏有毒蛇的毒液[poison of asps]

14 滿口是咒罵苦毒。

15 殺人流血,他們的腳飛跑,

16 他們[their]所經過的路便行毀滅和苦難[Destruction and misery]的事。

17 平安的路,他們未曾知道;

18 他們眼中不怕神。

19 我們曉得律法上的話都是對律法以下之人說的,好塞住各人的口,叫普世的人都在神面前顯為有罪[become guilty before God]

20 所以凡有血氣的,沒有一個因行律法能在神[sight]前稱義,因為律法本是叫人知罪。

21 但如今,神的義在律法以外已經顯明出來,有律法和先知為證:

22 就是神的義,因信耶穌基督加給一切相信的人,並沒有分別。

23 因為世人都犯了罪,虧缺了神的榮耀;

24 如今卻蒙神的恩典,因基督耶穌的救贖,就白白的稱義。

25 神設立耶穌作挽回祭,是憑著耶穌的血,藉著人的信,要顯明神的義;因為他用忍耐的心赦免[remission]人先時所犯的罪,

26 好在今時顯明他的義,使人知道他自己為義,也稱信耶穌的人為義。

27 既是這樣,哪裏能誇口呢?沒有可誇的了。用何法沒有的呢?是用立功之法嗎?不是,乃用信主之法。

28 所以[Therefore]我們看定了:人稱義是因著信,不在乎遵行律法。

29 難道神只作猶太人的神嗎?不也是作外邦人的神嗎?是的,也作外邦人的神。

30 神既是一位,他就要因信稱那受割禮的為義,也要因信稱那未受割禮的為義。

31 這樣,我們因信廢了律法嗎?[God]斷乎不是。更是堅固律法。

Romans

Chapter 3

1 WHAT then is the superiority of the Jew? or what is the importance of circumcision?

2 Much in every way: because the Jews were the first to believe in the words of God.

3 For what if some had not believed, could their unbelief nullify the faith of God?

4 Far be it: only God is true and no man is wholly perfect; as it is written, That you may be justified by your words, and triumph when you are judged.

5 Now if our iniquity serves to establish the righteousness of God, what then shall we say? Is God unjust when he inflicts his anger? I speak as a man.

6 Far be it: for then how could God judge the world?

7 For if the truth of God is made abundant through my falsehood to his glory, why then am I to be judged as a sinner?

8 As for those who blaspheme against us, saying that we say, Let us do evil that good may come, their condemnation is reserved for eternal justice.

9 What then do we uphold that is superior? We have already decided concerning both Jews and Syrians, for they are all under sin.

10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

11 There are none who understand, there are none who seek after God.

12 They are all gone astray and they have been rejected: there are none who do good, no, not one.

13 Their throats are like open sepulchres; their tongues are deceitful; the venom of asps is under their lips.

14 Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.

15 They are over-quick to shed blood.

16 Destruction and misery are in their ways.

17 They have not known the way of peace.

18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.

19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it is said to those who are under the law: so that every mouth may be shut, and all the world may become guilty before God.

20 For by the deeds of the law, no flesh shall be justified before his presence: for by means of the law, sin is known.

21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, and the very law and prophets testify to it;

22 But the righteousness of God is by the faith of Jesus Christ to every one, also to every man who believes in him, for there is no discrimination:

23 For all have sinned and are short of the glory of God:

24 For they are freely bestowed righteousness by the grace of God through the salvation which is in Jesus Christ, *

25 Whom God has foreordained to be a propitiation through faith in his blood for the remission of our sins that are past;

26 By the opportunity which God has given us through his forbearance, for the manifestation of his righteousness at the present time, that he might be declared righteous; and for the justification of righteousness to him who is in the faith of our LORD Jesus Christ.

27 Where is boasting then? It is worthless. By what law? of works? No: but by the law of faith.

28 Therefore we conclude that it is by faith a man is justified and not by the works of the law.

29 Why? Is he the God of the Jews only? Is he not also God of the Gentiles? Yes, he is God of the Gentiles also;

30 Because it is one God, who justifies the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision by the same faith.

31 Why, then? Do we nullify the law through faith? Far be it: on the contrary, we uphold the law.

10 就如經上所記:沒有義人,連一個也沒有。

10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

11 沒有明白的;沒有尋求神的;

11 There are none who understand, there are none who seek after God.

12 都是偏離正路,一同變為無用。沒有行善的,連一個也沒有。

12 They are all gone astray and they have been rejected: there are none who do good, no, not one.

13 他們的喉嚨是敞開的墳墓;他們用舌頭弄詭詐,嘴唇裏有毒蛇的毒液[poison of asps]

13 Their throats are like open sepulchres; their tongues are deceitful; the venom of asps is under their lips.

14 滿口是咒罵苦毒。

14 Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.

15 殺人流血,他們的腳飛跑,

15 They are over-quick to shed blood.

16 他們[their]所經過的路便行毀滅和苦難[Destruction and misery]的事。

16 Destruction and misery are in their ways.

17 平安的路,他們未曾知道;

17 They have not known the way of peace.

18 他們眼中不怕神。

18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.

19 我們曉得律法上的話都是對律法以下之人說的,好塞住各人的口,叫普世的人都在神面前顯為有罪[become guilty before God]

19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it is said to those who are under the law: so that every mouth may be shut, and all the world may become guilty before God.

20 所以凡有血氣的,沒有一個因行律法能在神[sight]前稱義,因為律法本是叫人知罪。

20 For by the deeds of the law, no flesh shall be justified before his presence: for by means of the law, sin is known.

21 但如今,神的義在律法以外已經顯明出來,有律法和先知為證:

21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, and the very law and prophets testify to it;

22 就是神的義,因信耶穌基督加給一切相信的人,並沒有分別。

22 But the righteousness of God is by the faith of Jesus Christ to every one, also to every man who believes in him, for there is no discrimination:

23 因為世人都犯了罪,虧缺了神的榮耀;

23 For all have sinned and are short of the glory of God:

24 如今卻蒙神的恩典,因基督耶穌的救贖,就白白的稱義。

24 For they are freely bestowed righteousness by the grace of God through the salvation which is in Jesus Christ, *

25 神設立耶穌作挽回祭,是憑著耶穌的血,藉著人的信,要顯明神的義;因為他用忍耐的心赦免[remission]人先時所犯的罪,

25 Whom God has foreordained to be a propitiation through faith in his blood for the remission of our sins that are past;

26 好在今時顯明他的義,使人知道他自己為義,也稱信耶穌的人為義。

26 By the opportunity which God has given us through his forbearance, for the manifestation of his righteousness at the present time, that he might be declared righteous; and for the justification of righteousness to him who is in the faith of our LORD Jesus Christ.

27 既是這樣,哪裏能誇口呢?沒有可誇的了。用何法沒有的呢?是用立功之法嗎?不是,乃用信主之法。

27 Where is boasting then? It is worthless. By what law? of works? No: but by the law of faith.

28 所以[Therefore]我們看定了:人稱義是因著信,不在乎遵行律法。

28 Therefore we conclude that it is by faith a man is justified and not by the works of the law.

29 難道神只作猶太人的神嗎?不也是作外邦人的神嗎?是的,也作外邦人的神。

29 Why? Is he the God of the Jews only? Is he not also God of the Gentiles? Yes, he is God of the Gentiles also;

30 神既是一位,他就要因信稱那受割禮的為義,也要因信稱那未受割禮的為義。

30 Because it is one God, who justifies the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision by the same faith.

31 這樣,我們因信廢了律法嗎?[God]斷乎不是。更是堅固律法。

31 Why, then? Do we nullify the law through faith? Far be it: on the contrary, we uphold the law.
