Chapter 26

1 THEN Job answered and said,

2 Why do you try to help him who is powerless? Why do you try to save the arm that has no strength?

3 How have you counselled him who has no wisdom? And how have you expounded so many doctrines?

4 To whom have you uttered words? And whose soul has come forth from you?

5 Behold, the mighty men shall be slain, and they shall lie down quieter than still waters.

6 Sheol is naked before him, and destruction has no covering.

7 He stretches out the north from the empty place, and hangs the earth upon nothing.

8 He binds up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.

9 He holds fast the covering of the firmament, and spreads his cloud upon it.

10 He has circled the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.

11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.

12 He rebukes the sea with his power, and by his wisdom he saves many.

13 By his spirit he manages the heavens; his hand slew the fleeing serpent.

14 Lo, these are merely parts of his ways; and what evil thing have we heard against him? And the greatness of his might who can understand?

1 Тогда Аюб ответил:

2 – О, как бессильному ты помог! Как дух слабого поддержал!

3 Как посоветовал ты немудрому! И как во всей полноте явил знание!

4 Кто помог тебе сказать эти слова? Чей дух говорил твоими устами?

5 Духов умерших охватила дрожь, трепещут подземные воды и их обитатели.

6 Мир мёртвых обнажён перед Всевышним, и покрова нет царству смерти.

7 Распростёр Он север над пустотой, ни на чём Он подвесил землю.

8 Заключает Он воду в тучи Свои, но тучи под её весом не рвутся.

9 Он закрывает престол Свой, застлав его облаком Своим.

10 Начертил Он горизонт над гладью вод, как границу света и тьмы.

11 Столпы небес дрожат, они в ужасе перед Его грозой.

12 Силой Своей Он волнует море, разумом Своим Он разит Рахава. .

13 От Его дыхания ясны небеса, и скользящую змею пронзает Его рука.

14 И это лишь часть Его дел; только слабый шёпот о Нём мы слышим! А гром Его мощи кто уяснит?
