2 1161 He3588 answered611 and said2036 unto them,846 When it is1096 evening,3798 ye say,3004 It will be fair weather: 2105 for1063 the3588 sky3772 is red.4449

3 And2532 in the morning,4404 It will be foul weather5494 today: 4594 for1063 the3588 sky3772 is red4449 and2532 lowering.4768 O ye hypocrites,5273 ye can1097 discern1252 the3588 3303 face4383 of the3588 sky;3772 but1161 can1410 ye not3756 discern the3588 signs4592 of the3588 times?2540

4 A wicked4190 and2532 adulterous3428 generation1074 seeketh after1934 a sign;4592 and2532 there shall no3756 sign4592 be given1325 unto it,846 but1508 the3588 sign4592 of the3588 prophet4396 Jonah.2495 And2532 he left2641 them,846 and departed.565

5 And2532 when his846 disciples3101 were come2064 to1519 the3588 other side,4008 they had forgotten1950 to take2983 bread.740

6 Then1161 Jesus2424 said2036 unto them,846 Take heed3708 and2532 beware4337 of575 the3588 leaven2219 of the3588 Pharisees5330 and2532 of the Sadducees.4523

7 And1161 they3588 reasoned1260 among1722 themselves,1438 saying,3004 It is because3754 we have taken2983 no3756 bread.740

8 Which when1161 Jesus2424 perceived,1097 he said2036 unto them,846 O ye of little faith,3640 why5101 reason1260 ye among1722 yourselves,1438 because3754 ye have brought2983 no3756 bread?740

9 Do ye not yet3768 understand,3539 neither3761 remember3421 the3588 five4002 loaves740 of the3588 five thousand,4000 and2532 how many4214 baskets2894 ye took up?2983

10 Neither3761 the3588 seven2033 loaves740 of the3588 four thousand,5070 and2532 how many4214 baskets4711 ye took up?2983

11 How4459 is it that ye do not3756 understand3539 that3754 I spake2036 it not3756 to you5213 concerning4012 bread,740 that ye should beware4337 of575 the3588 leaven2219 of the3588 Pharisees5330 and2532 of the Sadducees?4523

12 Then5119 understood4920 they how3754 that he bade2036 them not3756 beware4337 of575 the3588 leaven2219 of bread,740 but235 of575 the3588 doctrine1322 of the3588 Pharisees5330 and2532 of the Sadducees.4523

13 When1161 Jesus2424 came2064 into1519 the3588 coasts3313 of Caesarea2542 Philippi,5376 he asked2065 his848 disciples,3101 saying,3004 Whom5101 do men444 say3004 that I3165 the3588 Son5207 of man444 am?1511

14 And1161 they3588 said,2036 Some3588 say3303 that thou art John2491 the3588 Baptist:910 1161 some,243 Elijah;2243 and1161 others,2087 Jeremiah,2408 or2228 one1520 of the3588 prophets.4396

15 He saith3004 unto them,846 But1161 whom5101 say3004 ye5210 that I3165 am?1511

16 And1161 Simon4613 Peter4074 answered611 and said,2036 Thou4771 art1488 the3588 Christ,5547 the3588 Son5207 of the living2198 God.2316

17 And2532 Jesus2424 answered611 and said2036 unto him,846 Blessed3107 art1488 thou, Simon4613 Bar-jona: 920 for3754 flesh4561 and2532 blood129 hath not3756 revealed601 it unto thee,4671 but235 my3450 Father3962 which3588 is in1722 heaven.3772

18 And1161 I say also2504 3004 unto thee,4671 That3754 thou4771 art1488 Peter,4074 and2532 upon1909 this5026 rock4073 I will build3618 my3450 church;1577 and2532 the gates4439 of hell86 shall not3756 prevail against2729 it.846

19 And2532 I will give1325 unto thee4671 the3588 keys2807 of the3588 kingdom932 of heaven: 3772 and2532 whatsoever3739 1437 thou shalt bind1210 on1909 earth1093 shall2071 be bound1210 in1722 heaven: 3772 and2532 whatsoever3739 1437 thou shalt loose3089 on1909 earth1093 shall be2071 loosed3089 in1722 heaven.3772

20 Then5119 charged1291 he his848 disciples3101 that2443 they should tell2036 no man3367 that3752 he846 was2076 Jesus2424 the3588 Christ.5547

21 From575 that time forth5119 began756 Jesus2424 to show1166 unto his848 disciples,3101 how that3754 he846 must1163 go565 unto1519 Jerusalem,2414 and2532 suffer3958 many things4183 of575 the3588 elders4245 and2532 chief priests749 and2532 scribes,1122 and2532 be killed,615 and2532 be raised again1453 the3588 third5154 day.2250

22 Then2532 Peter4074 took4355 him,846 and began756 to rebuke2008 him,846 saying,3004 Be it far2436 from thee,4671 Lord:2962 this5124 shall not3364 be2071 unto thee.4671

23 But1161 he3588 turned,4762 and said2036 unto Peter,4074 Get5217 thee behind3694 me,3450 Satan: 4567 thou art1488 an offense4625 unto me: 3450 for3754 thou savorest5426 not3756 the things3588 that be of God,2316 but235 those3588 that be of men.444

24 Then5119 said2036 Jesus2424 unto his848 disciples,3101 If any1536 man will2309 come2064 after3694 me,3450 let him deny533 himself,1438 and2532 take up142 his848 cross,4716 and2532 follow190 me.3427

25 For1063 whosoever3739 302 will2309 save4982 his848 life5590 shall lose622 it: 846 and1161 whosoever3739 302 will lose622 his848 life5590 for my sake1752 1700 shall find2147 it.846

Chapter 16

1 AND the Pharisees and Sadducees came up to him to tempt him; and they asked him to show them a sign from heaven.

2 But he answered and said to them, When it is evening, you say, It is clear, for the sky is red.

3 And in the morning you say, It is a winter day, for the sky is red and cloudy. O hypocrites, you know how to judge the face of the sky, but the signs of the present time you are not able to distinguish.

4 A wicked and adulterous generation wants a sign; and no sign shall be given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them and went away.

5 When his disciples came to the crossing place, they had forgotten to take bread with them.

6 He said to them, Look out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

7 And they were reasoning among themselves and saying, It is because we have not brought bread.

8 But Jesus knew it and said to them, What are you thinking among yourselves, O you of little faith; is it because you have not brought bread?

9 Do you not yet understand? Do you not remember the five loaves of bread of the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up?

10 Neither the seven loaves of bread of the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up?

11 How is it that you did not understand that I was not talking to you about the bread, but to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

12 Then they understood, that he did not say that they should beware of the leaven of the bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.

13 When Jesus came to the country of Caesarea of Philippi, he asked his disciples saying, What do the men say concerning me, that I am merely a son of man?

14 They said, There are some who say John the Baptist, others Elijah, and still others Jeremiah, or one of the prophets:

15 He said to them, Who do you say that I am?

16 Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but my Father in heaven.

18 I tell you also that you are a stone, and upon this stone I will build my church; and the doors of Sheol shall not shut in on it.

19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you release on earth shall be released in heaven.

20 Then he charged his disciples not to tell any man that he is the Christ.

21 From that time Jesus began to make known to his disciples, that he will shortly have to go to Jerusalem, and suffer a great deal from the elders, and the high priests and scribes, and be killed, and rise up on the third day.

22 So Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, and he said, Far be it from you, my Lord, that this should happen to you.

23 But he turned, and said to Peter, Get behind me, Satan, you are a stumbling-block to me; for you are not thinking of the things of God, but of men.

24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, He who wishes to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me.

25 For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake shall find it.

26 For how will a man be benefited, if he should gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27 For the Son of man will come in the glory of his Father with his holy angels; and then he will reward each man according to his works.

28 Truly I say to you, There are men who stand here, who will not taste death, until they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
