Chapter 15

1 Then5119 came4334 to Jesus2424 scribes1122 and2532 Pharisees,5330 which3588 were of575 Jerusalem,2414 saying,3004

2 Why1302 do thy4675 disciples3101 transgress3845 the3588 tradition3862 of the3588 elders?4245 for1063 they wash3538 not3756 their848 hands5495 when3752 they eat2068 bread.740

3 But1161 he3588 answered611 and said2036 unto them,846 Why1302 do ye5210 also2532 transgress3845 the3588 commandment1785 of God2316 by1223 your5216 tradition?3862

4 For1063 God2316 commanded,1781 saying,3004 Honor5091 thy4675 father3962 and2532 mother: 3384 and,2532 He that curseth2551 father3962 or2228 mother,3384 let him die5053 the death.2288

5 But1161 ye5210 say,3004 Whosoever3739 302 shall say2036 to his father3962 or2228 his mother,3384 It is a gift,1435 by whatsoever3739 1437 thou mightest be profited5623 by1537 me;1700

6 And2532 honor5091 not3364 his848 father3962 or2228 his848 mother,3384 he shall be free. Thus2532 have ye made the commandment of God of none effect208 3588 1785 2316 by1223 your5216 tradition.3862

7 Ye hypocrites,5273 well2573 did Isaiah2268 prophesy4395 of4012 you,5216 saying,3004

8 This3778 people2992 draweth nigh1448 unto me3427 with their848 mouth,4750 and2532 honoreth5091 me3165 with their lips;5491 but1161 their846 heart2588 is568 far4206 from575 me.1700

9 But1161 in vain3155 they do worship4576 me,3165 teaching1321 for doctrines1319 the commandments1778 of men.444

10 And2532 he called4341 the3588 multitude,3793 and said2036 unto them,846 Hear,191 and2532 understand: 4920

11 Not3756 that which goeth1525 into1519 the3588 mouth4750 defileth2840 a man;444 but235 that which cometh1607 out1537 of the3588 mouth,4750 this5124 defileth2840 a man.444

12 Then5119 came4334 his846 disciples,3101 and said2036 unto him,846 Knowest1492 thou that3754 the3588 Pharisees5330 were offended,4624 after they heard191 this saying?3056

13 But1161 he3588 answered611 and said,2036 Every3956 plant,5451 which3739 my3450 heavenly3770 Father3962 hath not3756 planted,5452 shall be rooted up.1610

14 Let them alone: 863 846 they be1526 blind5185 leaders3595 of the blind.5185 And1161 if1437 the blind5185 lead3594 the blind,5185 both297 shall fall4098 into1519 the ditch.999

15 Then1161 answered611 Peter4074 and said2036 unto him,846 Declare5419 unto us2254 this5026 parable.3850

16 And1161 Jesus2424 said,2036 Are2075 ye5210 also2532 yet188 without understanding?801

17 Do not ye yet3768 understand,3539 that3754 whatsoever3956 entereth1531 in1519 at the3588 mouth4750 goeth5562 into1519 the3588 belly,2836 and2532 is cast out1544 into1519 the draught?856

18 But1161 those things which proceed1607 out of1537 the3588 mouth4750 come forth1831 from1537 the3588 heart;2588 and they2548 defile2840 the3588 man.444

19 For1063 out1537 of the3588 heart2588 proceed1831 evil4190 thoughts,1261 murders,5408 adulteries,3430 fornications,4202 thefts,2829 false witness,5577 blasphemies: 988

20 These5023 are2076 the things which defile2840 a man: 444 but1161 to eat5315 with unwashen449 hands5495 defileth2840 not3756 a man.444

21 Then2532 Jesus2424 went1831 thence,1564 and departed402 into1519 the3588 coasts3313 of Tyre5184 and2532 Sidon.4605

22 And,2532 behold,2400 a woman1135 of Canaan5478 came1831 out of575 the3588 same1565 coasts,3725 and cried2905 unto him,846 saying,3004 Have mercy1653 on me,3165 O Lord,2962 thou son5207 of David;1138 my3450 daughter2364 is grievously2560 vexed with a devil.1139

23 But1161 he3588 answered611 her846 not3756 a word.3056 And2532 his846 disciples3101 came4334 and besought2065 him,846 saying,3004 Send her away;630 846 for3754 she crieth2896 after3693 us.2257

24 But1161 he3588 answered611 and said,2036 I am not3756 sent649 but1508 unto1519 the lost622 sheep4263 of the house3624 of Israel.2474

25 Then1161 came2064 she3588 and worshiped4352 him,846 saying,3004 Lord,2962 help997 me.3427

26 But1161 he3588 answered611 and said,2036 It is2076 not3756 meet2570 to take2983 the3588 children's5043 bread,740 and2532 to cast906 it to dogs.2952

27 And1161 she3588 said,2036 Truth,3483 Lord:2962 yet1063 the3588 dogs2952 eat2068 of575 the3588 crumbs5589 which fall4098 from575 their848 masters'2962 table.5132

28 Then5119 Jesus2424 answered611 and said2036 unto her,846 O5599 woman,1135 great3173 is thy4675 faith: 4102 be1096 it unto thee4671 even as5613 thou wilt. And2309 2532 her846 daughter2364 was made whole2390 from575 that very1565 hour.5610

29 And2532 Jesus2424 departed3327 from thence,1564 and came2064 nigh unto3844 the3588 sea2281 of Galilee;1056 and2532 went up305 into1519 a mountain,3735 and sat down2521 there.1563

30 And2532 great4183 multitudes3793 came4334 unto him,846 having2192 with3326 them1438 those that were lame,5560 blind,5185 dumb,2974 maimed,2948 and2532 many4183 others,2087 and2532 cast them down4496 846 at3844 Jesus'2424 feet;4228 and2532 he healed2323 them: 846

31 Insomuch that5620 the3588 multitude3793 wondered,2296 when they saw991 the dumb2974 to speak,2980 the maimed2948 to be whole,5199 the lame5560 to walk,4043 and2532 the blind5185 to see:991 and2532 they glorified1392 the3588 God2316 of Israel.2474

32 Then1161 Jesus2424 called4341 his848 disciples3101 unto him, and said,2036 I have compassion4697 on1909 the3588 multitude,3793 because3754 they continue with4357 me3427 now2235 three5140 days,2250 and2532 have2192 nothing5101 3756 to eat: 5315 and2532 I will2309 not3756 send them away630 846 fasting,3523 lest3379 they faint1590 in1722 the3588 way.3598

33 And2532 his846 disciples3101 say3004 unto him,846 Whence4159 should we2254 have so much5118 bread740 in1722 the wilderness,2047 as5620 to fill5526 so great5118 a multitude?3793

34 And2532 Jesus2424 saith3004 unto them,846 How many4214 loaves740 have2192 ye? And1161 they3588 said,2036 Seven,2033 and2532 a few3641 little fishes.2485

35 And2532 he commanded2753 the3588 multitude3793 to sit down377 on1909 the3588 ground.1093

36 And2532 he took2983 the3588 seven2033 loaves740 and2532 the3588 fishes,2486 and2532 gave thanks,2168 and broke2806 them, and2532 gave1325 to his848 disciples,3101 and1161 the3588 disciples3101 to the3588 multitude.3793

37 And2532 they did all3956 eat,5315 and2532 were filled:5526 and2532 they took up142 of the3588 broken2801 meat that was left4052 seven2033 baskets4711 full.4134

38 And1161 they that did eat2068 were2258 four thousand5070 men,435 beside5565 women1135 and2532 children.3813

39 And2532 he sent away630 the3588 multitude,3793 and took ship,1684 1519 4143 and2532 came2064 into1519 the3588 coasts3725 of Magdala.3093

Chapter 15

1 THEN Pharisees and scribes from Jerusalem came up to Jesus, saying,

2 Why do your disciples disregard the tradition of the elders, and they do not wash their hands when they eat food?

3 Jesus answered and said to them, Why do you also disregard the commandment of God on account of your tradition.

4 For God said, Honor your father and your mother, and whoever curses his father and his mother, let him be put to death.

5 But you say, Whoever says to a father or to a mother, Whatever you may be benefited from me is Corban (my offering), he need not honor his father or his mother.

6 So you have rendered useless the word of God for the sake of your tradition.

7 O you hypocrites, the prophet Isaiah well prophesied concerning you and said,

8 This people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far away from me.

9 And they worship me in vain, when they teach the doctrines of the commandments of men.

10 Then he called the people and said to them, Listen and understand.

11 It is not what enters into the mouth which defiles man; but what goes out of the mouth, that is what defiles man.

12 Then his disciples came up and said to him, Do you know that the Pharisees who heard this saying were offended?

13 But he answered and said to them, Every plant that my heavenly Father did not plant, shall be uprooted.

14 Leave them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if the blind lead around the blind, both will fall into a pit.

15 And Simon Peter answered and said to him, My Lord, explain this parable to us.

16 And he said to them, Even yet do you not understand?

17 Do you not know that what enters into the mouth goes into the stomach, and thence, through the intestines, is cast out?

18 But what comes out of the mouth comes out from the heart; and that is what defiles man.

19 For from the heart come out evil thoughts, such as fornication, murder, adultery, theft, false witness, blasphemy.

20 It is these that defile man; but if a man should eat when his hands are unwashed, he will not be defiled.

21 And Jesus went out from thence, and he came to the border of Tyre and Sidon.

22 And behold, a Canaanite woman from these borders, came out crying aloud, and saying, Have mercy on me, O my Lord, son of David; my daughter is seriously afflicted with insanity.

23 But he did not answer her. And his disciples came up to him and urged him, saying, Dismiss her, for she keeps crying aloud after us.

24 And he answered and said to them, I am not sent, except to the sheep which went astray from the house of Israel.

25 But she came and worshipped him, and said, My Lord, help me.

26 Jesus said to her, It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.

27 But she said Yes, my Lord, even the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from the master's tray, and they live.

28 Then Jesus said to her, O woman, your faith is great; let it be to you as you wish; and her daughter was healed from that very hour.

29 And Jesus departed from thence, and he came toward the sea of Galilee; and he went up to a mountain and sat down there.

30 And a great many people came to him, who had with them the lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at the feet of Jesus, and he healed them.

31 So that the people wondered, to see the dumb speaking, and the maimed healed, and the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they praised the God of Israel.

32 Jesus then called his disciples and said to them, I have compassion for this people, for they have remained with me three days, and they have nothing to eat; and if I dismiss them fasting, they might faint on the way; but this I do not wish to do.

33 His disciples said to him, Where can we get bread in this desolate place to feed all this people?

34 Jesus said to them, How many loaves of bread have you? They said to him, Seven, and a few small fish.

35 So he ordered the people to sit on the ground.

36 Then he took the seven loaves of bread and the fish, and gave thanks, and he broke them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.

37 And all of them did eat and were satisfied; and they took up of the fragments that were left over, seven full baskets.

38 And those who did eat were four thousand men, besides women and children.

39 And when he had dismissed the people, he went up to the boat and came to the border of Magadan.

Chapter 15

1 Then5119 came4334 to Jesus2424 scribes1122 and2532 Pharisees,5330 which3588 were of575 Jerusalem,2414 saying,3004

1 THEN Pharisees and scribes from Jerusalem came up to Jesus, saying,

2 Why1302 do thy4675 disciples3101 transgress3845 the3588 tradition3862 of the3588 elders?4245 for1063 they wash3538 not3756 their848 hands5495 when3752 they eat2068 bread.740

2 Why do your disciples disregard the tradition of the elders, and they do not wash their hands when they eat food?

3 But1161 he3588 answered611 and said2036 unto them,846 Why1302 do ye5210 also2532 transgress3845 the3588 commandment1785 of God2316 by1223 your5216 tradition?3862

3 Jesus answered and said to them, Why do you also disregard the commandment of God on account of your tradition.

4 For1063 God2316 commanded,1781 saying,3004 Honor5091 thy4675 father3962 and2532 mother: 3384 and,2532 He that curseth2551 father3962 or2228 mother,3384 let him die5053 the death.2288

4 For God said, Honor your father and your mother, and whoever curses his father and his mother, let him be put to death.

5 But1161 ye5210 say,3004 Whosoever3739 302 shall say2036 to his father3962 or2228 his mother,3384 It is a gift,1435 by whatsoever3739 1437 thou mightest be profited5623 by1537 me;1700

5 But you say, Whoever says to a father or to a mother, Whatever you may be benefited from me is Corban (my offering), he need not honor his father or his mother.

6 And2532 honor5091 not3364 his848 father3962 or2228 his848 mother,3384 he shall be free. Thus2532 have ye made the commandment of God of none effect208 3588 1785 2316 by1223 your5216 tradition.3862

6 So you have rendered useless the word of God for the sake of your tradition.

7 Ye hypocrites,5273 well2573 did Isaiah2268 prophesy4395 of4012 you,5216 saying,3004

7 O you hypocrites, the prophet Isaiah well prophesied concerning you and said,

8 This3778 people2992 draweth nigh1448 unto me3427 with their848 mouth,4750 and2532 honoreth5091 me3165 with their lips;5491 but1161 their846 heart2588 is568 far4206 from575 me.1700

8 This people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far away from me.

9 But1161 in vain3155 they do worship4576 me,3165 teaching1321 for doctrines1319 the commandments1778 of men.444

9 And they worship me in vain, when they teach the doctrines of the commandments of men.

10 And2532 he called4341 the3588 multitude,3793 and said2036 unto them,846 Hear,191 and2532 understand: 4920

10 Then he called the people and said to them, Listen and understand.

11 Not3756 that which goeth1525 into1519 the3588 mouth4750 defileth2840 a man;444 but235 that which cometh1607 out1537 of the3588 mouth,4750 this5124 defileth2840 a man.444

11 It is not what enters into the mouth which defiles man; but what goes out of the mouth, that is what defiles man.

12 Then5119 came4334 his846 disciples,3101 and said2036 unto him,846 Knowest1492 thou that3754 the3588 Pharisees5330 were offended,4624 after they heard191 this saying?3056

12 Then his disciples came up and said to him, Do you know that the Pharisees who heard this saying were offended?

13 But1161 he3588 answered611 and said,2036 Every3956 plant,5451 which3739 my3450 heavenly3770 Father3962 hath not3756 planted,5452 shall be rooted up.1610

13 But he answered and said to them, Every plant that my heavenly Father did not plant, shall be uprooted.

14 Let them alone: 863 846 they be1526 blind5185 leaders3595 of the blind.5185 And1161 if1437 the blind5185 lead3594 the blind,5185 both297 shall fall4098 into1519 the ditch.999

14 Leave them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if the blind lead around the blind, both will fall into a pit.

15 Then1161 answered611 Peter4074 and said2036 unto him,846 Declare5419 unto us2254 this5026 parable.3850

15 And Simon Peter answered and said to him, My Lord, explain this parable to us.

16 And1161 Jesus2424 said,2036 Are2075 ye5210 also2532 yet188 without understanding?801

16 And he said to them, Even yet do you not understand?

17 Do not ye yet3768 understand,3539 that3754 whatsoever3956 entereth1531 in1519 at the3588 mouth4750 goeth5562 into1519 the3588 belly,2836 and2532 is cast out1544 into1519 the draught?856

17 Do you not know that what enters into the mouth goes into the stomach, and thence, through the intestines, is cast out?

18 But1161 those things which proceed1607 out of1537 the3588 mouth4750 come forth1831 from1537 the3588 heart;2588 and they2548 defile2840 the3588 man.444

18 But what comes out of the mouth comes out from the heart; and that is what defiles man.

19 For1063 out1537 of the3588 heart2588 proceed1831 evil4190 thoughts,1261 murders,5408 adulteries,3430 fornications,4202 thefts,2829 false witness,5577 blasphemies: 988

19 For from the heart come out evil thoughts, such as fornication, murder, adultery, theft, false witness, blasphemy.

20 These5023 are2076 the things which defile2840 a man: 444 but1161 to eat5315 with unwashen449 hands5495 defileth2840 not3756 a man.444

20 It is these that defile man; but if a man should eat when his hands are unwashed, he will not be defiled.

21 Then2532 Jesus2424 went1831 thence,1564 and departed402 into1519 the3588 coasts3313 of Tyre5184 and2532 Sidon.4605

21 And Jesus went out from thence, and he came to the border of Tyre and Sidon.

22 And behold, a Canaanite woman from these borders, came out crying aloud, and saying, Have mercy on me, O my Lord, son of David; my daughter is seriously afflicted with insanity.

23 But1161 he3588 answered611 her846 not3756 a word.3056 And2532 his846 disciples3101 came4334 and besought2065 him,846 saying,3004 Send her away;630 846 for3754 she crieth2896 after3693 us.2257

23 But he did not answer her. And his disciples came up to him and urged him, saying, Dismiss her, for she keeps crying aloud after us.

24 But1161 he3588 answered611 and said,2036 I am not3756 sent649 but1508 unto1519 the lost622 sheep4263 of the house3624 of Israel.2474

24 And he answered and said to them, I am not sent, except to the sheep which went astray from the house of Israel.

25 Then1161 came2064 she3588 and worshiped4352 him,846 saying,3004 Lord,2962 help997 me.3427

25 But she came and worshipped him, and said, My Lord, help me.

26 But1161 he3588 answered611 and said,2036 It is2076 not3756 meet2570 to take2983 the3588 children's5043 bread,740 and2532 to cast906 it to dogs.2952

26 Jesus said to her, It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.

27 And1161 she3588 said,2036 Truth,3483 Lord:2962 yet1063 the3588 dogs2952 eat2068 of575 the3588 crumbs5589 which fall4098 from575 their848 masters'2962 table.5132

27 But she said Yes, my Lord, even the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from the master's tray, and they live.

28 Then Jesus said to her, O woman, your faith is great; let it be to you as you wish; and her daughter was healed from that very hour.

29 And2532 Jesus2424 departed3327 from thence,1564 and came2064 nigh unto3844 the3588 sea2281 of Galilee;1056 and2532 went up305 into1519 a mountain,3735 and sat down2521 there.1563

29 And Jesus departed from thence, and he came toward the sea of Galilee; and he went up to a mountain and sat down there.

30 And a great many people came to him, who had with them the lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at the feet of Jesus, and he healed them.

31 So that the people wondered, to see the dumb speaking, and the maimed healed, and the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they praised the God of Israel.

32 Jesus then called his disciples and said to them, I have compassion for this people, for they have remained with me three days, and they have nothing to eat; and if I dismiss them fasting, they might faint on the way; but this I do not wish to do.

33 And2532 his846 disciples3101 say3004 unto him,846 Whence4159 should we2254 have so much5118 bread740 in1722 the wilderness,2047 as5620 to fill5526 so great5118 a multitude?3793

33 His disciples said to him, Where can we get bread in this desolate place to feed all this people?

34 And2532 Jesus2424 saith3004 unto them,846 How many4214 loaves740 have2192 ye? And1161 they3588 said,2036 Seven,2033 and2532 a few3641 little fishes.2485

34 Jesus said to them, How many loaves of bread have you? They said to him, Seven, and a few small fish.

35 And2532 he commanded2753 the3588 multitude3793 to sit down377 on1909 the3588 ground.1093

35 So he ordered the people to sit on the ground.

36 Then he took the seven loaves of bread and the fish, and gave thanks, and he broke them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.

37 And2532 they did all3956 eat,5315 and2532 were filled:5526 and2532 they took up142 of the3588 broken2801 meat that was left4052 seven2033 baskets4711 full.4134

37 And all of them did eat and were satisfied; and they took up of the fragments that were left over, seven full baskets.

38 And1161 they that did eat2068 were2258 four thousand5070 men,435 beside5565 women1135 and2532 children.3813

38 And those who did eat were four thousand men, besides women and children.

39 And2532 he sent away630 the3588 multitude,3793 and took ship,1684 1519 4143 and2532 came2064 into1519 the3588 coasts3725 of Magdala.3093

39 And when he had dismissed the people, he went up to the boat and came to the border of Magadan.
