4 Where375 were1961 you when I laid the foundations3245 of the earth?776 declare,5046 if you have understanding.998

2 孰以愚昧之詞、使道不明乎。

3 當鼓爾氣、勿愧丈夫、我問爾答可乎。

4 我肇基大地之時、汝安在、知則告我。

5 誰爲量度、誰爲準繩、

6 何地築址基、何人立四隅、

7 當時星使欣咏、天神謳歌、

8 海水初生、孰提防之、若閉其門、

9 其蔽以密雲、遮以靉靆、

10 定其界址、設其門楗、

11 語之曰、至此則可、不得越其防、爾之洪濤澎湃、至此而止者、非我乎。

12 爾誕生以來、亦亦曾命旭日升、黎明至乎。

13 地之四極、輝光旣布、宵小匿跡、

14 宇宙一新、如印印泥、如人衣衣、

15 作惡者流、不以光爲光、光天之下、不敢作爲。

16 海之泉源、爾豈能窮、淵之深處、爾豈能及。

17 爾豈能啟陰司之戶、窺暗府之門、

18 大地之長廣、爾豈能測、如知之、試言之。

19 光在何方、暗在何所、

20 爾豈識其途、能導人造其境乎。

21 爾壽豈高、爾年豈永、而能識此理哉。

22 雪雹藏諸府庫、爾豈見之、

23 患難之時、以殛斯民。

24 輝光何以四射、東風何以孔布、

25 誰沛霖雨、誰發雷電。

26 使空曠之野、無人之所、亦被膏澤、

27 荒土草木、甲坼芽萌乎。

28 誰致雨露、

29 誰降冰霜、

30 水變爲石、淵面凝結乎。

31 誰繫昴結、解參帶、

32 引十二宮、躔度不差、轉斗柄、旋衆星乎、爾豈能爲之乎、

33 爾能運行天道、使地歸其統轄乎、

34 爾能呼雲、使洪水淹爾乎、

35 爾能掣電、電之現伏、皆從爾命乎。

36 誰使兆民心明意慧乎、
