2 Die Jungfrau1330 Israel3478 ist5307 gefallen, daß sie nicht3254 wieder aufstehen wird; sie ist6965 zu Boden127 gestoßen5203, und ist6965 niemand, der ihr aufhelfe.

3 Denn so spricht559 der HErr136 GOtt: Die Stadt5892, da tausend505 ausgehen3318, soll nur hundert3967 übrig7604 behalten; und da hundert3967 ausgehen3318, soll nur zehn6235 übrig7604 behalten im Hause1004 Israel3478.

4 Darum so spricht559 der HErr3068 zum Hause1004 Israel3478: Suchet1875 mich2421, so werdet ihr leben!

5 Suchet1875 nicht Bethel und935 kommet nicht gen Gilgal1537 und gehet5674 nicht gen Berseba. Denn Gilgal1537 wird gefangen weggeführet werden1540, und Bethel wird Beth-Aven205 werden1540.

6 Suchet1875 den HErrn3068, so werdet ihr leben, daß nicht6743 ein Feuer784 im Hause1004 Josephs3130 überhandnehme, das da verzehre398, und niemand löschen möge zu2421 Bethel,

7 die ihr3240 das776 Recht4941 in Wermut3939 verkehret und die Gerechtigkeit6666 zu Boden stoßet.

8 Er7121 macht2015 die8034 Glucke und6213 Orion3685; der aus8210 der Finsternis6757 den Morgen1242 und776 aus dem Tage3117 die finstere2821 Nacht3915 macht; der dem Wasser4325 im Meer3220 ruft und schüttet es auf6440 den Erdboden: er heißet HErr3068,

9 der über den Starken5794 eine Verstörung7701 anrichtet1082 und bringet935 eine Verstörung7701 über die feste4013 Stadt.

10 Aber sie sind8549 dem gram8130, der sie im Tor8179 straft3198, und haben den für einen8581 Greuel, der heilsam lehret.

11 Darum, weil3282 ihr3427 die Armen1800 unterdrücket und nehmet das Korn1250 mit großen Lasten4864 von ihnen, so sollt ihr in den Häusern1004 nicht3947 wohnen, die ihr von Werkstücken1496 gebauet habt1129, und den Wein3196 nicht trinken8354, den ihr in den feinen2531 Weinbergen3754 gepflanzet habt5193.

12 Denn ich3724 weiß3045 euer Übertreten6588, des viel7227 ist3947, und eure Sünden2403, die stark6099 sind, wie ihr die Gerechten6662 dränget und Blutgeld nehmet und die Armen34 im Tor8179 unterdrücket.

13 Darum muß der Kluge7919 zur selbigen Zeit6256 schweigen1826; denn es ist eine böse7451 Zeit6256.

14 Suchet1875 das Gute2896 und559 nicht das Böse7451, auf daß ihr leben2421 möget, so wird der HErr3068, der GOtt430 Zebaoth6635, bei euch sein, wie ihr rühmet.

15 Hasset8130 das Böse7451 und liebet157 das Gute2896, bestellet das Recht4941 im Tor8179, so wird der HErr3068, der GOtt430 Zebaoth6635, den übrigen7611 in Joseph3130 gnädig2603 sein.

16 Darum so spricht der HErr3068, der GOtt430 Zebaoth6635, der HErr136: Es wird3045 in allen Gassen7339 Wehklagen4553 sein, und auf allen Straßen2351 wird man559 sagen: Wehe! wehe! Und man559 wird den Ackermann406 zum Trauern60 rufen7121 und zum Wehklagen4553, wer da weinen5092 kann.

17 In5674 allen Weinbergen3754 wird Wehklagen4553 sein; denn ich will unter7130 euch fahren, spricht559 der HErr3068.

18 Wehe1945 denen, die des HErrn3068 Tag3117 begehren183! Was4100 soll er euch? Denn des HErrn3068 Tag3117 ist eine Finsternis2822 und nicht ein Licht216.

19 Gleich als wenn jemand vor6440 dem Löwen738 flöhe5127 und ein376 Bär1677 begegnete ihm, und als wenn jemand in ein Haus1004 käme935 und lehnete sich5564 mit der Hand3027 an6293 die Wand7023 und eine Schlange5175 stäche5391 ihn.

20 Denn des HErr3068 Tag3117 wird ja finster2822 und nicht licht216 sein, dunkel651 und nicht hell.

21 Ich bin8130 euren Feiertagen2282 gram und verachte sie3988 und mag nicht riechen7306 in eure Versammlung6116.

22 Und ob ihr mir gleich Brandopfer5930 und Speisopfer4503 opfert, so hab ich keinen Gefallen7521 daran; so mag ich auch eure feisten4806 Dankopfer8002 nicht5927 ansehen5027.

23 Tu nur weg von mir das Geplärr1995 deiner Lieder7892; denn ich mag deines Psalterspieles nicht5493 hören8085!

24 Es soll aber das Recht4941 offenbaret werden1556 wie Wasser4325 und5158 die Gerechtigkeit6666 wie ein starker Strom386.

25 Habt ihr vom Hause1004 Israel3478 mir in der Wüste4057 die vierzig705 Jahre8141 lang Schlachtopfer2077 und Speisopfer4503 geopfert5066? Jawohl!

26 Ihr truget5375 den Sichuth, euren König4428, und Chiun3594, euer Bild6754, den Stern3556 eurer Götter430, welche ihr euch selbst gemacht6213 hattet.

27 So will ich euch von hinnen jenseit1973 Damaskus1834 wegführen1540 lassen, spricht559 der HErr3068, der GOtt430 Zebaoth6635 heißt8034.

Chapter 5

1 HEAR this word which I take up concerning you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel:

2 The virgin of Israel is fallen, she shall no more rise; she is left lying on the ground, there is none to raise her up.

3 For thus says the LORD God: The city out of which went forth a thousand men, there shall be left in it a hundred men; and that out of which went forth a hundred men, there shall be left in it ten men to the house of Israel.

4 For thus says the LORD to the house of Israel: Seek me and you shall live;

5 But do not seek Beth-el, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba; for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity and Beth-el shall come to nought.

6 Seek the LORD and you shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph and devour Beth-el, and there will be none to quench it.

7 You who turn justice into bitterness, and lower righteousness to the ground,

8 They have forsaken him who made Pleiades and Orion, and who turns the shadow of death into the morning, and makes the day dark into night; who calls the waters of the sea, and pours them out upon the face of the earth; the LORD is his name;

9 Who makes the weak to rule over the mighty, and exalts the meek over the proud.

10 They hate the poor at the gates, and they abhor him who speaks uprightly.

11 Therefore because you have beaten on the head of the poor and have taken from him the choicest gifts; the houses of hewn stone which you have built, you shall not dwell in; and from the pleasant vineyards which you have planted, you shall not drink wine.

12 For I know your transgressions are many and your sins are great; you oppress the just, you take a bribe, and you turn aside the cause of the poor in the gate from their right.

13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.

14 Seek good and not evil that you may live; and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as you have spoken.

15 Hate the evil and love the good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

16 Therefore thus says the LORD, the God of hosts: In all streets there shall be wailing; and in all broad places they shall say, Alas! alas! and they shall call the farmers to mourning, and those who are skillful in lamentation to wailing.

17 And in all vineyards shall be wailing; for I will pass through the midst of you, says the LORD.

18 Woe to you who desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? The day of the LORD? For it is a day of darkness and not light.

19 As when a man fled from a lion and a bear met him; or went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall and a serpent bit him.

20 Such is the day of the LORD; it is darkness and not light; yea, it is a day of thick darkness and no brightness is in it.

21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell the savor of your solemn assemblies.

22 Though you offer me your burnt offerings and your meal offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.

23 Take away from me the noise of your songs; for I will not hear the melody of your harps.

24 But let justice run down like waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

25 Did you offer to me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness for forty years, O house of Israel?

26 But you carried the tabernacle of Malcom and Chiun your idol, the star which you made a god to yourselves.

27 Therefore I will cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, says the LORD whose name is the God of hosts.
