第7章

1 以色列族犯所獻之物而取戾、蓋猶大支派、西喇曾孫、颯底孫。迦米子亞干、取所獻之物、故耶和華怒以色列族。〇

2 約書亞自耶利哥、遣人至伯特利東、近伯亞文之埃邑、而告之曰、爾往窺察埃地、爰往窺之、

3 返見約書亞曰、往毋庸衆、欲擊埃邑、二三千人斯可矣、埃人維寡、何勞衆往。

4 於是民三千人往、爲埃人所敗而遁。

5 埃人追之、自城門至示巴林、於下坡處、擊三十六人、故民喪膽、荏弱如水。

6 約書亞裂衣、俯伏耶和華匱前、彼及以色列族、蒙灰於首、至於薄暮。

7 約書亞曰、我主耶和華歟、曷導斯民濟約但、付於亞摩哩人手、使我危亡乎。不如我仍居約但東爲幸。

8 主乎、以色列族敗北、我何言哉。

9 迦南人、與斯土居民、聞之必環而攻我、滅我名於地、然爾名維大、如何使人尊崇。

10 耶和華諭約書亞曰、爾起、曷俯伏於此。

11 以色列族犯罪、背我命約、當獻之物爲其攘竊、匿於器中、而佯循我命、

12 故以色列族服咒敗北、不得禦敵、如不以當獻之物出於爾中、我不復佑爾。

13 盍起、成聖斯民、使潔己身、以待明晨、將我命傳衆曰、以色列族歟、有獻我之物、藏於爾間、未出斯物、爾不能禦敵。

14 詰朝、必使各支派至而掣籤、其中我取一支派、必使各族至、其中我取一族、必使各家至、其中我取一家、必使各人至、

15 我取其人、旣藏所獻之物、則必爇之、與凡所有、緣背我約、行不端於以色列族中。

16 約書亞夙興、使以色列各支派至、製籤而取猶大、

17 使猶大各族至、而取西喇、使西喇各家至、而取颯底、

18 使其家各人至、而取猶大支派、西喇曾孫、颯底孫、迦米子亞干。

19 約書亞告亞干曰、吾子宜尊耶和華、以色列之上帝、任過於其前、以所行告我、勿隱。

20 亞干曰、我之所行、果犯罪耶和華、以色列之上帝。

21 我見於貨財中、自示拿至之美衣、銀百兩、金片二十五兩、則貪而取之、今在幕中、藏於地、銀置於下。

22 約書亞遣人趨幕、果在幕中、銀置於下。

23 攜至約書亞、及以色列族、置於耶和華前。

24 約書亞曁以色列族、取西喇孫亞干、與金銀衣服、及子女、牛羊、驢幕、與凡所有、至亞割谷。

25 約書亞曰、爾何貽禍於我、今日耶和華必禍爾。時以色列族擊之以石、爇之以火、

26 堆石爲岡、以掩其上、至今猶存。於是耶和華息其烈怒、人名其地亞割谷、至於今日尚有此稱。

Chapter 7

1 But the children1121 of Israel3478 committed4603 a trespass4604 in the accursed2764 thing: for Achan,5912 the son1121 of Carmi,3756 the son1121 of Zabdi,2067 the son1121 of Zerah,2226 of the tribe4294 of Judah,3063 took3947 of the accursed2764 thing: and the anger639 of the LORD3068 was kindled2734 against the children1121 of Israel.3478

2 And Joshua3091 sent7971 men582 from Jericho3405 to Ai,5857 which834 is beside5973 Bethaven,1007 on the east6924 of Bethel,1008 and spoke559 to them, saying,559 Go5927 up and view7270 the country.776 And the men582 went5927 up and viewed7270 Ai.5857

3 And they returned7725 to Joshua,3091 and said559 to him, Let not all3605 the people5971 go5927 up; but let about two or176 three7969 thousand505 men376 go5927 up and smite5217 Ai;5857 and make not all3605 the people5971 to labor3021 thither;8033 for they are but few.4592

4 So there went5927 up thither8033 of the people5971 about three7969 thousand505 men:376 and they fled5127 before6440 the men582 of Ai.5857

5 And the men582 of Ai5857 smote5221 of them about thirty7970 and six8337 men:376 for they chased7291 them from before6440 the gate8179 even to Shebarim,7671 and smote5221 them in the going4174 down:4174 why the hearts3824 of the people5971 melted,4549 and became1961 as water.4325

6 And Joshua3091 rent7167 his clothes,8071 and fell5307 to the earth776 on his face6440 before6440 the ark727 of the LORD3068 until5704 the eventide,6153 he and the elders2205 of Israel,3478 and put5927 dust6083 on their heads.7218

7 And Joshua3091 said,559 Alas,162 O LORD136 God,3069 why4100 have you at all brought5674 this2088 people5971 over5674 Jordan,3383 to deliver5414 us into the hand3027 of the Amorites,567 to destroy6 us? would3863 to God we had been content,2974 and dwelled3427 on the other5676 side5676 Jordan!3383

8 O LORD,136 what4100 shall I say,559 when6310 Israel3478 turns2015 their backs6203 before6440 their enemies!341

9 For the Canaanites3669 and all3605 the inhabitants3427 of the land776 shall hear8085 of it, and shall environ5437 us round,5921 and cut3772 off our name8034 from the earth:776 and what4100 will you do6213 to your great1419 name?8034

10 And the LORD3068 said559 to Joshua,3091 Get6965 you up; why4100 lie5307 you thus2088 on your face?6440

11 Israel3478 has sinned,2398 and they have also1571 transgressed5674 my covenant1285 which834 I commanded6680 them: for they have even1571 taken3947 of the accursed2764 thing, and have also1571 stolen,1589 and dissembled3584 also,1571 and they have put7760 it even1571 among their own stuff.3627

12 Therefore the children1121 of Israel3478 could3201 not stand6965 before6440 their enemies,341 but turned6437 their backs6203 before6440 their enemies,341 because3588 they were accursed:2764 neither3808 will I be with you any more,3254 except518 3808 you destroy8045 the accursed2764 from among7130 you.

13 Up, sanctify6942 the people,5971 and say,559 Sanctify6942 yourselves against to morrow:4279 for thus3541 said559 the LORD3068 God430 of Israel,3478 There is an accursed2764 thing in the middle7130 of you, O Israel:3478 you can3201 not stand6965 before6440 your enemies,341 until5704 you take5493 away the accursed2764 thing from among7130 you.

14 In the morning1242 therefore you shall be brought7126 according to your tribes:7626 and it shall be, that the tribe7626 which834 the LORD3068 takes3920 shall come7126 according to the families4940 thereof; and the family4940 which834 the LORD3068 shall take3920 shall come7126 by households;1004 and the household1004 which834 the LORD3068 shall take3920 shall come7126 man1397 by man.1397

15 And it shall be, that he that is taken3920 with the accursed2764 thing shall be burnt8313 with fire,784 he and all3605 that he has: because3588 he has transgressed5674 the covenant1285 of the LORD,3068 and because3588 he has worked6213 folly5039 in Israel.3478

16 So Joshua3091 rose7925 up early7925 in the morning,1242 and brought7126 Israel3478 by their tribes;7626 and the tribe7626 of Judah3063 was taken:3920

17 And he brought7126 the family4940 of Judah;3063 and he took3920 the family4940 of the Zarhites:2227 and he brought7126 the family4940 of the Zarhites2227 man1397 by man;1397 and Zabdi2067 was taken:3920

18 And he brought7126 his household1004 man1397 by man;1397 and Achan,5912 the son1121 of Carmi,3756 the son1121 of Zabdi,2067 the son1121 of Zerah,2226 of the tribe4294 of Judah,3063 was taken.3920

19 And Joshua3091 said559 to Achan,5912 My son,1121 give,7760 I pray4994 you, glory3519 to the LORD3068 God430 of Israel,3478 and make5414 confession8426 to him; and tell5046 me now4994 what4100 you have done;6213 hide3582 it not from me.

20 And Achan5912 answered6030 Joshua,3091 and said,559 Indeed546 I have sinned2398 against the LORD3068 God430 of Israel,3478 and thus2063 and thus2063 have I done:6213

21 When I saw7200 among the spoils7998 a goodly2896 Babylonish8152 garment,155 and two hundred3967 shekels8255 of silver,3701 and a wedge3956 of gold2091 of fifty2572 shekels8255 weight,4948 then I coveted2530 them, and took3947 them; and, behold,2009 they are hid2934 in the earth776 in the middle8432 of my tent,168 and the silver3701 under8478 it.

22 So Joshua3091 sent7971 messengers,4397 and they ran7323 to the tent;168 and, behold,2009 it was hid2934 in his tent,168 and the silver3701 under8478 it.

23 And they took3947 them out of the middle8432 of the tent,168 and brought935 them to Joshua,3091 and to all3605 the children1121 of Israel,3478 and laid3332 them out before6440 the LORD.3068

24 And Joshua,3091 and all3605 Israel3478 with him, took3947 Achan5912 the son1121 of Zerah,2226 and the silver,3701 and the garment,155 and the wedge3956 of gold,2091 and his sons,1121 and his daughters,1323 and his oxen,7794 and his asses,2543 and his sheep,6629 and his tent,168 and all3605 that he had: and they brought5927 them to the valley6010 of Achor.5911

25 And Joshua3091 said,559 Why4100 have you troubled5916 us? the LORD3068 shall trouble5916 you this2088 day.3117 And all3605 Israel3478 stoned5619 him with stones,68 and burned8313 them with fire,784 after they had stoned7275 them with stones.68

26 And they raised6965 over5921 him a great1419 heap1530 of stones68 to this2088 day.3117 So the LORD3068 turned7725 from the fierceness2740 of his anger.639 Why5921 3651 the name8034 of that place4725 was called,7121 The valley6010 of Achor,5911 to this2088 day.3117

2 And Joshua3091 sent7971 men582 from Jericho3405 to Ai,5857 which834 is beside5973 Bethaven,1007 on the east6924 of Bethel,1008 and spoke559 to them, saying,559 Go5927 up and view7270 the country.776 And the men582 went5927 up and viewed7270 Ai.5857

3 返見約書亞曰、往毋庸衆、欲擊埃邑、二三千人斯可矣、埃人維寡、何勞衆往。

3 And they returned7725 to Joshua,3091 and said559 to him, Let not all3605 the people5971 go5927 up; but let about two or176 three7969 thousand505 men376 go5927 up and smite5217 Ai;5857 and make not all3605 the people5971 to labor3021 thither;8033 for they are but few.4592

4 於是民三千人往、爲埃人所敗而遁。

4 So there went5927 up thither8033 of the people5971 about three7969 thousand505 men:376 and they fled5127 before6440 the men582 of Ai.5857

5 埃人追之、自城門至示巴林、於下坡處、擊三十六人、故民喪膽、荏弱如水。

8 主乎、以色列族敗北、我何言哉。

8 O LORD,136 what4100 shall I say,559 when6310 Israel3478 turns2015 their backs6203 before6440 their enemies!341

9 迦南人、與斯土居民、聞之必環而攻我、滅我名於地、然爾名維大、如何使人尊崇。

11 Israel3478 has sinned,2398 and they have also1571 transgressed5674 my covenant1285 which834 I commanded6680 them: for they have even1571 taken3947 of the accursed2764 thing, and have also1571 stolen,1589 and dissembled3584 also,1571 and they have put7760 it even1571 among their own stuff.3627

12 故以色列族服咒敗北、不得禦敵、如不以當獻之物出於爾中、我不復佑爾。

12 Therefore the children1121 of Israel3478 could3201 not stand6965 before6440 their enemies,341 but turned6437 their backs6203 before6440 their enemies,341 because3588 they were accursed:2764 neither3808 will I be with you any more,3254 except518 3808 you destroy8045 the accursed2764 from among7130 you.

13 盍起、成聖斯民、使潔己身、以待明晨、將我命傳衆曰、以色列族歟、有獻我之物、藏於爾間、未出斯物、爾不能禦敵。

13 Up, sanctify6942 the people,5971 and say,559 Sanctify6942 yourselves against to morrow:4279 for thus3541 said559 the LORD3068 God430 of Israel,3478 There is an accursed2764 thing in the middle7130 of you, O Israel:3478 you can3201 not stand6965 before6440 your enemies,341 until5704 you take5493 away the accursed2764 thing from among7130 you.

14 詰朝、必使各支派至而掣籤、其中我取一支派、必使各族至、其中我取一族、必使各家至、其中我取一家、必使各人至、

14 In the morning1242 therefore you shall be brought7126 according to your tribes:7626 and it shall be, that the tribe7626 which834 the LORD3068 takes3920 shall come7126 according to the families4940 thereof; and the family4940 which834 the LORD3068 shall take3920 shall come7126 by households;1004 and the household1004 which834 the LORD3068 shall take3920 shall come7126 man1397 by man.1397

15 我取其人、旣藏所獻之物、則必爇之、與凡所有、緣背我約、行不端於以色列族中。

15 And it shall be, that he that is taken3920 with the accursed2764 thing shall be burnt8313 with fire,784 he and all3605 that he has: because3588 he has transgressed5674 the covenant1285 of the LORD,3068 and because3588 he has worked6213 folly5039 in Israel.3478

16 約書亞夙興、使以色列各支派至、製籤而取猶大、

16 So Joshua3091 rose7925 up early7925 in the morning,1242 and brought7126 Israel3478 by their tribes;7626 and the tribe7626 of Judah3063 was taken:3920

17 使猶大各族至、而取西喇、使西喇各家至、而取颯底、

17 And he brought7126 the family4940 of Judah;3063 and he took3920 the family4940 of the Zarhites:2227 and he brought7126 the family4940 of the Zarhites2227 man1397 by man;1397 and Zabdi2067 was taken:3920

18 使其家各人至、而取猶大支派、西喇曾孫、颯底孫、迦米子亞干。

19 約書亞告亞干曰、吾子宜尊耶和華、以色列之上帝、任過於其前、以所行告我、勿隱。

19 And Joshua3091 said559 to Achan,5912 My son,1121 give,7760 I pray4994 you, glory3519 to the LORD3068 God430 of Israel,3478 and make5414 confession8426 to him; and tell5046 me now4994 what4100 you have done;6213 hide3582 it not from me.

20 亞干曰、我之所行、果犯罪耶和華、以色列之上帝。

20 And Achan5912 answered6030 Joshua,3091 and said,559 Indeed546 I have sinned2398 against the LORD3068 God430 of Israel,3478 and thus2063 and thus2063 have I done:6213

21 我見於貨財中、自示拿至之美衣、銀百兩、金片二十五兩、則貪而取之、今在幕中、藏於地、銀置於下。

23 攜至約書亞、及以色列族、置於耶和華前。

23 And they took3947 them out of the middle8432 of the tent,168 and brought935 them to Joshua,3091 and to all3605 the children1121 of Israel,3478 and laid3332 them out before6440 the LORD.3068

24 約書亞曁以色列族、取西喇孫亞干、與金銀衣服、及子女、牛羊、驢幕、與凡所有、至亞割谷。

24 And Joshua,3091 and all3605 Israel3478 with him, took3947 Achan5912 the son1121 of Zerah,2226 and the silver,3701 and the garment,155 and the wedge3956 of gold,2091 and his sons,1121 and his daughters,1323 and his oxen,7794 and his asses,2543 and his sheep,6629 and his tent,168 and all3605 that he had: and they brought5927 them to the valley6010 of Achor.5911

25 約書亞曰、爾何貽禍於我、今日耶和華必禍爾。時以色列族擊之以石、爇之以火、

25 And Joshua3091 said,559 Why4100 have you troubled5916 us? the LORD3068 shall trouble5916 you this2088 day.3117 And all3605 Israel3478 stoned5619 him with stones,68 and burned8313 them with fire,784 after they had stoned7275 them with stones.68

26 堆石爲岡、以掩其上、至今猶存。於是耶和華息其烈怒、人名其地亞割谷、至於今日尚有此稱。
