Luke

Chapter 18

1 HE also spake to them a parable, that they should pray always and not get weary.

2 There was a judge in a city, who did not fear God, and had no regard for men.

3 There was a widow in that city, and she used to come to him, saying, Avenge me of my accuser.

4 And he would not for a long time; but afterwards he said within himself, Though I am not afraid of God, and have no regard for men;

5 Yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, so that she may not keep coming and annoy me.

6 Then our Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge said.

7 Would not God avenge his chosen ones much more, who call upon him day and night, though he has patience with them?

8 I say to you, he will avenge them promptly. But when the Son of man comes, will he find faith on the earth?

9 And he said this parable against the men who relied upon themselves that they were righteous, and despised every man.

10 Two men went up to the temple to pray; one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

11 And the Pharisee stood by himself, and prayed thus: O God, I thank thee, that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, grafters, adulterers, and not like this publican.

12 But I fast twice a week, and I give tithes on everything I earn.

13 But the publican stood afar off, and he would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote his breast, saying, O God, be merciful to me, I am a sinner.

14 I say to you, that this man went down to his house more righteous than the Pharisee. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled; and everyone who humbles himself will be exalted.

15 They brought to him also little boys, that he might touch them; and his disciples saw them and rebuked them.

16 But Jesus called them, and said to them, Permit the children to come to me, and do not stop them; for the kingdom of heaven is for those who are like these.

17 Truly I say to you, He who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little boy will never enter into it.

18 A nd one of the leaders asked him and said to him, O good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit life everlasting?

19 Jesus said to him, Why do you call me good? there is no one good, except one, that is God.

20 You know the commandments: You shall not kill; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; Honor your father and your mother.

21 He said to him, All these I have obeyed from my boyhood.

22 When Jesus heard it, he said to him, You lack one thing; go, sell everything you have, and give it to the poor, and you will have a treasure in heaven; and come and follow me.

23 But when he heard these things, he felt sad, because he was very rich.

24 And when Jesus saw that he felt sad, he said, How difficult it is for those who have wealth to enter into the kingdom of God!

25 It is easier for a rope to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

26 Those who heard it said to him, Who then can be saved?

27 But Jesus said, Those things which are impossible to men are possible to God.

28 Simon Peter said to him, Behold we have left everything and followed you.

29 Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you, that there is no man who leaves houses, or parents, or brothers, or wife, or children for the sake of the kingdom of God,

30 Who will not receive many times more at this time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

31 Then Jesus took the twelve and said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things which are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man will be fulfilled.

32 For he will be delivered to the Gentiles, and they will mock him, and spit in his face.

33 And they will scourge him, and curse him, and kill him; and on the third day he will rise again.

34 But they understood not one of these things; and this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know these things which were spoken to them.

35 And when he drew near Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside and begging.

36 And he heard the voice of the people passing, and asked, Who is this?

37 They said to him, Jesus the Nazarene is passing.

38 And he cried and said, O Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me.

39 And those who were going before Jesus rebuked him, to keep quiet; but he cried the more, O son of David, have mercy on me.

40 So Jesus stood still, and commanded to call him to him; and as he came near him he asked him,

41 And said to him, What do you wish me to do for you? He answered and said, My Lord, that I may see.

42 And Jesus said to him, See; your faith has healed you.

43 And he saw immediately, and followed him, and praised God; and all the people who saw it, gave praise to God.

Kapitel 18

1 Er sagte3004 ihnen aber1161 ein Gleichnis3850 davon, daß4314 man1163 allezeit3842 beten4336 und2532 nicht2532 laß werden1573 sollte,

2 und sprach3004: Es war2258 ein5100 Richter2923 in1722 einer5100 Stadt4172, der fürchtete sich5399 nicht3361 vor GOtt2316 und scheuete sich vor keinem Menschen444.

3 Es war2258 aber1161 eine Witwe5503 in1722 derselbigen Stadt4172, die1565 kam2064 zu4314 ihm846 und2532 sprach3004: Rette1556 mich3165 von575 meinem3450 Widersacher476!

4 Und2532 er2036 wollte2309 lange5550 nicht3756. Danach aber1161 dachte er bei3326 sich selbst1438: Ob ich mich1722 schon2532 vor1909 GOtt2316 nicht3756 fürchte5399, noch vor keinem3756 Menschen444 scheue1788,

5 dieweil1065 aber1223 mir3165 diese5026 Witwe5503 so viel Mühe macht3930, will ich sie846 retten1556, auf1519 daß3363 sie nicht zuletzt5056 komme2064 und übertäube mich3427.

6 Da1161 sprach2036 der HErr2962: Höret191 her, was5101 der ungerechte93 Richter2923 sagt3004!

7 Sollte aber1161 GOtt2316 nicht3364 auch retten1557 seine846 Auserwählten, die3588 zu4314 ihm846 Tag2250 und2532 Nacht3571 rufen994, und2532 sollte Geduld3114 darüber1909 haben4160?

8 Ich sage3004 euch5213: Er846 wird4160 sie erretten1557 in1722 einer Kürze. Doch4133 wenn des Menschen444 Sohn kommen2064 wird, meinest du, daß3754 er auch werde Glauben4102 finden2147 auf1909 Erden1093?

9 Er2532 sagte2036 aber1161 zu4314 etlichen, die5026 sich1909 selbst1438 vermaßen3982, daß3754 sie fromm1342 wären1526, und2532 verachteten1848 die3588 andern3062, ein5100 solch Gleichnis3850:

10 Es gingen zwei1417 Menschen hinauf305 in1519 den444 Tempel2411, zu beten4336, einer ein Pharisäer5330, der1520 andere2087 ein Zöllner5057.

11 Der3778 Pharisäer5330 stund und3754 betete4336 bei ich selbst1438 also: Ich danke2168 dir4671, GOtt2316, daß4314 ich nicht3756 bin1510 wie5618 die5023 andern3062 Leute444: Räuber727, Ungerechte94, Ehebrecher3432 oder2228 auch2532 wie5613 dieser Zöllner5057.

12 Ich faste3522 zweimal1364 in der Woche4521 und gebe den Zehnten586 von allem3956, was3745 ich habe2932.

13 Und2532 der Zöllner5057 stund von ferne3113, wollte2309 auch3761 seine Augen3788 nicht3756 aufheben1869 gen1519 Himmel3772 sondern235 schlug5180 an1519 seine Brust4738 und sprach3004: GOtt2316, sei mir3427 Sünder268 gnädig2433

14 Ich sage3004 euch5213: Dieser ging2597 hinab gerechtfertiget in1519 sein5013 Haus3624 vor jenem. Denn2228 wer3956 sich848 selbst1438 erhöhet, der3778 wird erniedriget werden1344; und3754 wer sich selbst1438 erniedriget, der1565 wird erhöhet werden5312.

15 Sie846 brachten4374 auch2532 junge Kindlein1025 zu ihm daß2443 er846 sie1161 sollte anrühren680. Da es aber1161 die Jünger3101 sahen1492, bedräueten sie846 die.

16 Aber1161 JEsus2424 rief sie846 zu4314 sich4341 und2532 sprach2036: Lasset863 die Kindlein3813 zu mir3165 kommen2064 und wehret2967 ihnen846 nicht3361; denn1063 solcher5108 ist2076 das932 Reich Gottes2316.

17 Wahrlich281, ich sage3004 euch5213, wer nicht3362 das3739 Reich932 Gottes2316 nimmt als5613 ein1525 Kind3813, der846 wird1209 nicht3364 hineinkommen1525.

18 Und2532 es fragte1905 ihn846 ein5100 Oberster758 und sprach3004: Guter18 Meister1320, was5101 muß ich tun4160, daß ich das ewige166 Leben2222 ererbe2816?

19 JEsus2424 aber1161 sprach2036 zu ihm846: Was5101 heißest3004 du mich3165 gut18? Niemand3762 ist gut18 denn1508 der1520 einige GOtt2316.

20 Du1492 weißt die Gebote1785 wohl: Du sollst3431 nicht3361 ehebrechen3431. Du sollst5407 nicht3361 töten5407. Du sollst2813 nicht3361 stehlen2813. Du sollst nicht3361 falsch Zeugnis5576 reden5576. Du sollst deinen4675 Vater3962 und2532 deine4675 Mutter3384 ehren5091.

21 Er aber1161 sprach2036: Das3956 habe ich alles5023 gehalten5442 von1537 meiner3450 Jugend3503 auf.

22 Da JEsus2424 das3956 hörete, sprach2036 er846 zu1722 ihm: Es fehlt3007 dir4671 noch2089 eins1520. Verkaufe4453 alles5023, was3745 du191 hast2192, und1161 gib‘s den Armen4434, so2532 wirst du einen Schatz2344 im Himmel3772 haben2192; und2532 komm1204 und2532 folge mir3427 nach190

23 Da1161 er2258 das5023 hörete ward er traurig4036; denn1063 er war1096 sehr4970 reich4145.

24 Da aber1161 JEsus2424 sah, daß er846 traurig4036 war2192 worden, sprach2036 er: Wie4459 schwerlich werden1096 die Reichen5536 in1519 das1492 Reich932 Gottes2316 kommen1525!

25 Es ist2076 leichter2123, daß ein1525 Kamel2574 gehe1525 durch1223 ein Nadelöhr4476, denn1063 daß ein Reicher in1519 das932 Reich4145 Gottes2316 komme.

26 Da1161 sprachen2036, die191 das höreten: Wer5101 kann1410 denn2532 selig4982 werden?

27 Er aber1161 sprach2036: Was bei3844 den444 Menschen unmöglich102 ist2076, das ist bei3844 GOtt2316 möglich1415.

28 Da2532 sprach2036 Petrus4074: Siehe2400, wir2249 haben alles3956 verlassen863 und1161 sind dir4671 nachgefolget.

29 Er846 sprach2036 zu863 ihnen: Wahrlich281 ich sage3004 euch es ist2076 niemand3762, der3739 ein Haus3614 verlässet oder2228 Eltern1118 oder2228 Brüder80 oder2228 Weib1135 oder2228 Kinder5043 um1752 des Reichs932 Gottes2316 willen,

30 der es nicht3364 vielfältig4179 wieder empfange618 in1722 dieser5129 Zeit2540 und2532 in1722 der zukünftigen2064 Welt165 das3739 ewige166 Leben2222.

31 Er846 nahm3880 aber1161 zu4314 sich die Zwölfe und2532 sprach2036 zu1519 ihnen: Sehet2400, wir gehen hinauf305 gen Jerusalem2414, und es wird alles3956 vollendet werden5055, was geschrieben1125 ist durch1223 die Propheten4396 von des Menschen444 Sohn.

32 Denn1063 er wird überantwortet werden3860 den Heiden1484; und2532 er wird verspottet1702 und2532 geschmähet5195 und2532 verspeiet werden;

33 und2532 sie werden ihn geißeln3146 und2532 töten615. Und am dritten5154 Tage2250 wird er846 wieder auferstehen450.

34 Sie4920 aber vernahmen der keines3756, und2532 die5130 Rede4487 war2258 ihnen verborgen2928, und2532 wußten1097 nicht3762, was das5124 gesagt3004 war.

35 Es geschah1096 aber1161, da1448 er846 nahe zu1722 Jericho2410 kam, saß2521 ein1519 Blinder5185 am3844 Wege3598 und bettelte4319.

36 Da er4441 aber1161 hörete das5124 Volk3793, das1498 hindurchging1279, forschete er, was5101 das wäre.

37 Da verkündigten518 sie1161 ihm846, JEsus2424 von Nazareth3480 ginge vorüber3928.

38 Und2532 er rief994 und sprach3004: JEsu2424, du Sohn Davids1138, erbarme dich1653 mein3165!

39 Die aber2532 vorne an2008 gingen4254, bedräueten ihn, er846 sollte schweigen4623. Er846 aber2443 schrie2896 viel4183 mehr3123: Du Sohn Davids1138, erbarme dich1653 mein3165!

40 JEsus2424 aber1161 stund stille und hieß2753 ihn846 zu4314 sich848 führen71. Da1448 sie2476 ihn aber1161 nahe zu ihm846 brachten, fragte1905 er846 ihn

41 und1161 sprach3004: Was5101 willst2309 du, daß2443 ich dir4671 tun4160 soll? Er sprach2036: HErr2962, daß ich sehen308 möge.

42 Und2532 JEsus2424 sprach2036 zu ihm846: Sei sehend308! Dein4675 Glaube4102 hat dir4571 geholfen4982.

43 Und2532 alsbald3916 ward1392 er846 sehend308 und2532 folgete ihm nach190 und2532 preisete GOtt2316. Und alles Volk2992, das3956 solches sah1492, lobete GOtt2316.

29 Er846 sprach2036 zu863 ihnen: Wahrlich281 ich sage3004 euch es ist2076 niemand3762, der3739 ein Haus3614 verlässet oder2228 Eltern1118 oder2228 Brüder80 oder2228 Weib1135 oder2228 Kinder5043 um1752 des Reichs932 Gottes2316 willen,

31 Then Jesus took the twelve and said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things which are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man will be fulfilled.

33 And they will scourge him, and curse him, and kill him; and on the third day he will rise again.

33 und2532 sie werden ihn geißeln3146 und2532 töten615. Und am dritten5154 Tage2250 wird er846 wieder auferstehen450.

34 But they understood not one of these things; and this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know these things which were spoken to them.

34 Sie4920 aber vernahmen der keines3756, und2532 die5130 Rede4487 war2258 ihnen verborgen2928, und2532 wußten1097 nicht3762, was das5124 gesagt3004 war.

35 And when he drew near Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside and begging.

40 So Jesus stood still, and commanded to call him to him; and as he came near him he asked him,
