Chapter 18

After3326 these5023 things Paul3972 departed5563 from Athens,116 and came2064 to Corinth;2882

And found2147 a certain5100 Jew2453 named3686 Aquila,207 born1085 in Pontus,4195 lately4373 come2064 from Italy,2482 with his wife1135 Priscilla;4252 (because1223 that Claudius2804 had commanded1299 all3956 Jews2453 to depart5562 from Rome:4516) and came4334 to them.

And because1223 he was of the same3673 craft,3673 he stayed3306 with them, and worked:2038 for by their occupation5078 they were tentmakers.4635

And he reasoned1256 in the synagogue4864 every3956 sabbath,4521 and persuaded3982 the Jews2453 and the Greeks.1672

And when5613 Silas4609 and Timotheus5095 were come2718 from Macedonia,3109 Paul3972 was pressed4912 in the spirit,4151 and testified1263 to the Jews2453 that Jesus2424 was Christ.5547

And when they opposed498 themselves, and blasphemed,987 he shook1621 his raiment,2440 and said2036 to them, Your5216 blood129 be on your5216 own heads;2776 I am clean;2513 from now on3568 I will go4198 to the Gentiles.1484

And he departed1831 there,1564 and entered2064 into1519 a certain5100 man's house,3614 named3686 Justus,2459 one that worshipped4576 God,2316 whose3739 house3614 joined4927 hard4927 to the synagogue.4864

And Crispus,2921 the chief752 ruler752 of the synagogue,752 believed4100 on the Lord2962 with all3650 his house;3624 and many4183 of the Corinthians2881 hearing191 believed,4100 and were baptized.907

Then1161 spoke2036 the Lord2962 to Paul3972 in the night3571 by a vision,3705 Be not afraid,5399 but speak,2980 and hold4623 not your peace:4623

For I am1510 with you, and no3762 man3762 shall set2007 on2007 you to hurt2559 you: for I have2076 much4183 people2992 in this5026 city.4172

And he continued2523 there a year1763 and six1803 months,3376 teaching1321 the word3056 of God2316 among1722 them.

And when Gallio1058 was the deputy446 of Achaia,882 the Jews2453 made2721 insurrection2721 with one3361 accord3661 against Paul,3972 and brought71 him to the judgment968 seat,968

Saying,3004 This3778 fellow persuades374 men444 to worship4576 God2316 contrary3844 to the law.3551

And when Paul3972 was now1161 about3195 to open455 his mouth,4750 Gallio1058 said2036 to the Jews,2453 If1487 it were a matter of wrong92 or2228 wicked4190 lewdness,4467 O you Jews,2453 reason3056 would that I should bear430 with you:

But if1487 it be a question2213 of words3056 and names,3686 and of your2596 5209 law,3551 look3700 you to it; for I will1014 be no3756 judge2923 of such5130 matters.

And he drove556 them from the judgment968 seat.968

Then1161 all3956 the Greeks1672 took1949 Sosthenes,4988 the chief752 ruler752 of the synagogue,752 and beat5180 him before1715 the judgment968 seat.968 And Gallio1058 cared3199 for none3762 of those5130 things.

And Paul3972 after this tarried4357 there yet2089 a good2425 while,2250 and then took657 his leave657 of the brothers,80 and sailed1602 there into1519 Syria,4947 and with him Priscilla4252 and Aquila;207 having shorn2751 his head2776 in Cenchrea:2747 for he had2192 a vow.2171

And he came2658 to Ephesus,2181 and left2641 them there:847 but he himself846 entered1525 into1519 the synagogue,4864 and reasoned1256 with the Jews.2453

When they desired2065 him to tarry3306 longer4119 time5550 with them, he consented1962 not;

But bade657 them farewell,657 saying,2036 I must1163 by all3843 means3843 keep4160 this3588 feast1859 that comes2064 in Jerusalem:2414 but I will return344 again3825 to you, if God2316 will.2309 And he sailed321 from Ephesus.2181

And when he had landed2718 at1519 Caesarea,2542 and gone305 up, and saluted782 the church,1577 he went2597 down2597 to Antioch.490

And after he had spent4160 some5100 time5550 there, he departed,1831 and went1330 over1330 all the country5561 of Galatia1054 and Phrygia5435 in order,2517 strengthening1991 all3956 the disciples.3101

And a certain5100 Jew2453 named3686 Apollos,625 born1085 at Alexandria,221 an eloquent3052 man,435 and mighty1415 in the scriptures,1124 came2658 to Ephesus.2181

This3778 man was instructed2727 in the way3598 of the Lord;2962 and being fervent2204 in the spirit,4151 he spoke2980 and taught1321 diligently199 the things of the Lord,2962 knowing1987 only3440 the baptism908 of John.2491

And he began756 to speak boldly3955 in the synagogue:4864 whom846 when Aquila207 and Priscilla4252 had heard,191 they took4355 him to them, and expounded1620 to him the way3598 of God2316 more197 perfectly.197

And when he was disposed1014 to pass1330 into1519 Achaia,882 the brothers80 wrote,1125 exhorting4389 the disciples3101 to receive588 him: who,3739 when he was come,3854 helped4820 them much4183 which had believed4100 through1223 grace:5485

For he mightily2159 convinced1246 the Jews,2453 and that publicly,1219 showing1925 by the scriptures1124 that Jesus2424 was Christ.5547
