1 Если ты думаешь, что победишь Левиафана, забудь, нет шансов у тебя! При одном его виде ты от страха онемеешь.

2 Ни в ком нет смелости такой, чтоб разбудить его и рассердить, как и никто против Меня восстать не может.

3 Я ничего не должен никому, под небом всё лишь Мне принадлежит.

4 Я о ногах Левиафана скажу тебе, Иов, о силе их и красоте.

5 Никто пробить его не может шкуру — она как щит.

6 Никто его не в состоянии заставить рот отворить, людей пугают его зубы.

7 Щитки рядами на его спине друг к другу припечатаны надёжно.

8 Они плотны настолько, что и воздух между ними не проходит.

9 Они друг с другом соединены так крепко, что никто не может их разъединить.

10 Сверкают молнии, когда чихает он, глаза его как свет зари.

11 Из его пасти рвётся пламя и сыплются искры.

12 Дым из ноздрей его валит, как будто из-под кипящего котла.

13 Его дыхание разжигает угли, и пламя рвётся изо рта.

14 Могуча его шея, люди бегут в испуге от него.

15 На его коже нет нежных мест, она железа твёрже.

16 Сердце его твёрже, чем мельничный жёрнов, он незнаком со страхом.

17 Когда Левиафан встаёт и бьёт хвостом, бегут все храбрецы.

18 Отскакивают от него мечи, отскакивают дротики и копья. Оружие ему вреда не причиняет.

19 Железо он разрывает как солому, и бронза для него некрепче дерева.

20 От стрел не убегает он, и камни, брошенные в него, как соломинки, вреда не причиняют.

21 Удар булавы для него — прикосновение травинки; он смеётся, когда в него копья летят.

22 Кожа на его брюхе словно острые черепки; он следы оставляет в земле подобно плугу.

23 Он перемешивает воду словно кипящий котёл, он пузыри пускает словно масло в котле кипит.

24 Когда плывёт он, оставляет за собой седую пену.

25 Нет на земле зверя подобного Левиафану, он единственный, кто сотворён без страха.
