1 Then answered6030 Zophar6691 the Naamathite,5284 and said,559

2 Should not the multitude7230 of words1697 be answered?6030 and should a man376 full of talk8193 be justified?6663

3 Should your lies907 make men4962 hold2790 their peace?2790 and when you mock,3932 shall no369 man make you ashamed?3637

4 For you have said,559 My doctrine3948 is pure,2134 and I am clean1249 in your eyes.5869

5 But oh that God433 would speak,1696 and open6605 his lips8193 against5973 you;

6 And that he would show5046 you the secrets8587 of wisdom,2451 that they are double3718 to that which is! Know3045 therefore that God433 exacts5382 of you less than your iniquity5771 deserves.

2 這許多的言語豈不該回答嗎？多嘴多舌的人豈可稱為義嗎？

3 你的謊話［lies］豈能使人不作聲嗎？你戲笑的時候豈沒有人叫你慚愧［ashamed］嗎？

4 你說：我的道理純全；我在你眼前潔淨。

5 唯願神說話；願他張嘴［open his lips］攻擊你，

6 並將智慧的奧秘指示你，就是智慧是有兩面的［that they are double to that which is］。所以當知道神追討你比你罪孽該得的還少。

7 你考察就能測透神嗎？你豈能盡情測透全能者嗎？

8 他的智慧高於天，你還能做甚麼？深於地獄［hell］，你還能知道甚麼？

9 其量比地長，比海寬。

10 他若剪除［cut off］，將人拘禁，或是招聚［or gather together］，誰能阻擋他呢？

11 他本知道虛妄的人；人的罪惡［wickedness］，他既是［also］無所不見，豈不留意嗎［not then consider it］？

12 人生在世雖［though］像野驢的駒子，空虛的人卻願得智慧［would be wise］。

13 你若預備己心［prepare thine heart］，又向主舉手；

14 你手裏若有罪孽，就當遠遠地除掉，也不容罪惡［wickedness］住在你帳棚之中。

15 那時，你必仰起臉來毫無斑點；你也必堅固，無所懼怕。

16 因［Because］你必忘記你的苦楚，就是想起也如流過去的水一樣。

17 你的年歲［age］要比正午更明；你必發出光來，如同早晨［thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning］。

18 你因有盼望［hope］，就必穩固；你［thou］必四圍掘開地土［dig］，坦然安息。

19 你躺臥，無人驚嚇，且有許多人向你求恩。

20 但惡人的眼目必要失明，他們不得逃脫［shall not escape］，他們的盼望［hope］就像［as］是氣絕。
