第25章

1 以色列［Israel］住在什亭，百姓與摩押女子犯起［commit］淫亂。

2 她們又［And they］叫百姓來，一同給她們的眾神獻祭；百姓就吃她們的祭物，跪拜她們的眾神。

3 以色列［Israel］與巴力．毗珥連合；耶和華的怒氣就向以色列［Israel］發作。

4 耶和華對［unto］摩西說：「將百姓中所有的族長在耶和華［LORD］面前對著日頭吊掛［hang］，使耶和華［LORD］向以色列［Israel］所發的怒氣可以消了。」

5 於是摩西對［said unto］以色列的審判官說：「凡屬你們的人，有與巴力．毗珥連合的，你們各人要把他們殺了。」

6 摩西和以色列全會眾正在會幕門前哭泣的時候，誰知，有以色列中的一個人，當他們眼前，帶著一個米甸女人到他弟兄那裏去。

7 祭司亞倫的孫子，以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈看見了，就從會中起來，手裏拿著短鎗［javelin］，

8 跟隨那以色列人進亭子裏去，便將以色列人和那女人由腹中刺透。這樣，在以色列人中瘟疫就止息了。

9 那時遭瘟疫死的，有二萬四千人。

10 耶和華曉諭摩西說：

11 「祭司亞倫的孫子，以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈，使我向以色列人所發的怒消了，因他在他們中間，為我的緣故熱心［zealous for my sake］，使我不在忌邪中把以色列人［children of Israel］除滅。

12 因此，你要說：『看哪［Behold］，我將我平安的約賜給他。

13 這約要給他和他的後裔，作為永遠當祭司職任的約；因他為神有熱心［zealous］，為以色列人贖罪。』」

14 那與米甸女人一同被殺的以色列人，名叫心利，是撒路的兒子，是西緬一個宗族的首領。

15 那被殺的米甸女人，名叫哥斯比，是蘇珥的女兒；這蘇珥是米甸一個宗族的首領。

16 耶和華曉諭摩西說：

17 「你要擾害米甸人，擊殺他們；

18 因為他們用詭計擾害你們，在毗珥的事上和他們的姊妹、米甸首領的女兒哥斯比的事上，用這詭計誘騙［beguiled］了你們；這哥斯比，當瘟疫流行的日子，因毗珥的事被殺了。」

Chapter 25

1 AND Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.

2 And they invited the people to the sacrifices offered to their gods; and the people did eat, and worshipped their gods.

3 And Israel joined himself to Baal-peor; and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.

4 And the LORD said to Moses, Take all the chiefs of the people and expose them before the LORD in the daylight that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from the children of Israel.

5 And Moses said to the judges of Israel, Slay every one of you his men who have joined themselves to Baal-peor.

6 And, behold, one of the men of the children of Israel came to his brethren, and then he went in to a Midianite woman in the sight of Moses and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel while they were weeping at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

7 And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from the midst of the congregation and took a spear in his hand;

8 And he went in after the man of Israel into the private chamber and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.

9 And those that died in the plague were twenty-four thousand.

10 Then the LORD spoke to Moses and said to him.

11 Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned my wrath away from the children of Israel because he was moved with my zeal among them that I did not consume the children of Israel in my anger.

12 Therefore I said, Behold, I will give to him my covenant of peace;

13 And he shall have it and his sons after him, the covenant of an everlasting priesthood, because he was zealous for his God and made atonement for the children of Israel.

14 Now the name of the Israelite who was slain with the Midianite woman was Zimri, the son of Salu, a chief of a father's house of the tribe of Simeon.

15 And the name of the Midianite woman was Cozbi, the daughter of Zur; he was the chief of the people of his father's house in Midian.

16 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

17 Harass the Midianites and destroy them;

18 For they have distressed you with their treachery, wherewith they have plotted against you in the matter of Peor and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a prince of Midian, their sister, who was slain in the day of the plague in the matter of Peor.

16 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

17 「你要擾害米甸人，擊殺他們；

17 Harass the Midianites and destroy them;

18 因為他們用詭計擾害你們，在毗珥的事上和他們的姊妹、米甸首領的女兒哥斯比的事上，用這詭計誘騙［beguiled］了你們；這哥斯比，當瘟疫流行的日子，因毗珥的事被殺了。」

18 For they have distressed you with their treachery, wherewith they have plotted against you in the matter of Peor and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a prince of Midian, their sister, who was slain in the day of the plague in the matter of Peor.
