馬太福音

第2章

1 當希律王的時候，耶穌生在猶太的伯利恆，恰巧［behold］有幾個智［wise］士從東方來到耶路撒冷，

2 說［Saying］：「那生下來作猶太人之王的在哪裏？我們在東方看見他的星，特來敬拜［worship］他。」

3 希律王聽見了這些事［these things］，就心裏不安，耶路撒冷合城的人也都不安。

4 他就召齊了祭司長和民間的文士，問他們基督當生在何處。

5 他們回答他［him］說：「在猶太的伯利恆；因為有先知這樣［thus］說：

6 『猶大地的伯利恆啊，你在猶大諸城中並不是最小的；因為將來有一位掌權者［Governor］要從你那裏出來，治理［rule］我以色列民。』」

7 當下，希律暗暗的召了智［wise］士來，細問他們［them］那星是甚麼時候出現的。

8 他［he］就差他們往伯利恆去，說：「你們去仔細尋訪那小孩子；尋到了他［him］，就來報信，我也好去敬拜［worship］他。」

9 他們聽見王的話就離開［departed］了；在東方所看見的那星忽然在他們前頭行，直行到小孩子的地方，就在上頭停住了。

10 他們看見那星，就大大的歡喜。

11 智士［they］進了房子，看見小孩子和他母親馬利亞，就俯伏敬拜［worshipped］那小孩子；他們開了［they had opened］寶盒，拿黃金、乳香、沒藥為禮物獻給他。

12 他們［they］在夢中又被神警戒［And being warned of God］不要回去見希律，就從別的路回本地去了。

13 他們去後，忽［behold］有主的天使［angel］向約瑟夢中顯現，說：「起來，帶著小孩子同他母親逃往埃及，住在那裏，等我報信給你［bring thee word］；因為希律必尋找小孩子，要除滅他。」

14 那時約瑟［When he］起來，夜間帶著小孩子和他母親往埃及去；

15 住在那裏，直到希律死了；這是要應驗主藉先知所說的話，說：「我從埃及召出我的兒子來。」

16 希律見自己被智［wise］士愚弄，就大大發怒，差人將伯利恆城裏並四境所有的嬰孩［children］，照著他向智［wise］士仔細查問的時候，凡兩歲以內的，都殺盡了。

17 這就應了先知耶利米的話，說：

18 在拉瑪聽見哀號［lamentation］、號咷大哭的聲音，是拉結哭她兒女，不肯受安慰，因為他們都不在了。

19 希律死了以後，忽［behold］有主的天使［angel］在埃及向約瑟夢中顯現，

20 說［Saying］：「起來，帶著小孩子和他母親往以色列地去；因為那些［they］要害小孩子性命的人已經死了。」

21 約瑟就起來，把小孩子和他母親帶到以色列地去。

22 只是當他［But when he］聽見亞基老接著他父親希律作了猶太王，就怕往那裏去；然而［notwithstanding］在夢中被神警戒［warned of God］，他便轉［he turned aside］往加利利境內去了；

23 他［he］到了一座城，名叫拿撒勒，就住在那裏；這是要應驗先知所說：「他要稱為拿撒勒人」。

Chapter 2

1 WHEN Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judah, in the days of Herod the king, there came Magi from the East to Jerusalem.

2 And they were saying, Where is the King of the Jews, who has been born? For we have seen his star in the East, so we have come to worship him.

3 But when Herod the king heard it, he trembled, and all Jerusalem with him.

4 So he gathered together all the high priests and the scribes of the people, and he kept asking them, where the Christ would be born?

5 They said, In Bethlehem of Judah, for thus it is written in the book of the prophet:

6 Even you, Bethlehem of Judah, you are not insignificant in the eyes of the kings of Judah, for from you shall come out a king, who will shepherd my people Israel.

7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly, and he learned from them at what time the star appeared to them.

8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said to them, Go and enquire very carefully concerning the boy, and when you have found him, come back and let me know, so that I also may go and worship him.

9 When they had heard from the king, they went away; and behold, the same star that they had seen in the east was going before them, until it came and stood just above the place where the infant boy was.

10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly.

11 And they entered the house, and they saw the infant boy with Mary, his mother; and they threw themselves down and worshipped him; and they opened their treasures and offered to him gifts - gold and frankincense, and myrrh.

12 And they saw in a dream not to return to Herod, so they departed to their own country by another way.

13 When they had gone, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, and said to him, Arise, take the infant boy and his mother, and escape to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod is ready to demand the child so as to destroy him.

14 Then Joseph rose up, took the infant boy and his mother in the night, and escaped to Egypt.

15 And he remained there until the death of Herod, so that what was said from the Lord by the prophet, might be fulfilled, I have called my son from Egypt.

16 When Herod saw that he was insulted by the Magi, he was greatly enraged, so he sent forth and had all the infant boys in Bethlehem and in its suburbs killed, from two years old and down, according to the time that he had enquired from the Magi.

17 Then was fulfilled what was said by the prophet Jeremiah who said,

18 A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and wailing exceedingly, Rachel weeping for her sons, and she would not be comforted, because they could not be brought back.

19 When King Herod died, the angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt.

20 And he said to him, Arise, take the boy and his mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who were seeking the boy's life are dead.

21 So Joseph rose up, took the boy and his mother, and he came to the land of Israel.

22 But when he heard that Archelaus had become king over Judaea, in the place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there; and it was revealed to him in a dream to go to the land of Galilee.

23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, so that what was said by the prophet, might be fulfilled, He shall be called a Nazarene.

1 當希律王的時候，耶穌生在猶太的伯利恆，恰巧［behold］有幾個智［wise］士從東方來到耶路撒冷，	1 WHEN Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judah, in the days of Herod the king, there came Magi from the East to Jerusalem.
2 說［Saying］：「那生下來作猶太人之王的在哪裏？我們在東方看見他的星，特來敬拜［worship］他。」	2 And they were saying, Where is the King of the Jews, who has been born? For we have seen his star in the East, so we have come to worship him.
3 希律王聽見了這些事［these things］，就心裏不安，耶路撒冷合城的人也都不安。	3 But when Herod the king heard it, he trembled, and all Jerusalem with him.
4 他就召齊了祭司長和民間的文士，問他們基督當生在何處。	4 So he gathered together all the high priests and the scribes of the people, and he kept asking them, where the Christ would be born?
5 他們回答他［him］說：「在猶太的伯利恆；因為有先知這樣［thus］說：	5 They said, In Bethlehem of Judah, for thus it is written in the book of the prophet:
6 『猶大地的伯利恆啊，你在猶大諸城中並不是最小的；因為將來有一位掌權者［Governor］要從你那裏出來，治理［rule］我以色列民。』」	6 Even you, Bethlehem of Judah, you are not insignificant in the eyes of the kings of Judah, for from you shall come out a king, who will shepherd my people Israel.

8 他［he］就差他們往伯利恆去，說：「你們去仔細尋訪那小孩子；尋到了他［him］，就來報信，我也好去敬拜［worship］他。」	8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said to them, Go and enquire very carefully concerning the boy, and when you have found him, come back and let me know, so that I also may go and worship him.
9 他們聽見王的話就離開［departed］了；在東方所看見的那星忽然在他們前頭行，直行到小孩子的地方，就在上頭停住了。	9 When they had heard from the king, they went away; and behold, the same star that they had seen in the east was going before them, until it came and stood just above the place where the infant boy was.
10 他們看見那星，就大大的歡喜。	10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly.

15 住在那裏，直到希律死了；這是要應驗主藉先知所說的話，說：「我從埃及召出我的兒子來。」	15 And he remained there until the death of Herod, so that what was said from the Lord by the prophet, might be fulfilled, I have called my son from Egypt.
16 希律見自己被智［wise］士愚弄，就大大發怒，差人將伯利恆城裏並四境所有的嬰孩［children］，照著他向智［wise］士仔細查問的時候，凡兩歲以內的，都殺盡了。	16 When Herod saw that he was insulted by the Magi, he was greatly enraged, so he sent forth and had all the infant boys in Bethlehem and in its suburbs killed, from two years old and down, according to the time that he had enquired from the Magi.
17 這就應了先知耶利米的話，說：	17 Then was fulfilled what was said by the prophet Jeremiah who said,
18 在拉瑪聽見哀號［lamentation］、號咷大哭的聲音，是拉結哭她兒女，不肯受安慰，因為他們都不在了。	18 A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and wailing exceedingly, Rachel weeping for her sons, and she would not be comforted, because they could not be brought back.

20 說［Saying］：「起來，帶著小孩子和他母親往以色列地去；因為那些［they］要害小孩子性命的人已經死了。」	20 And he said to him, Arise, take the boy and his mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who were seeking the boy's life are dead.
21 約瑟就起來，把小孩子和他母親帶到以色列地去。	21 So Joseph rose up, took the boy and his mother, and he came to the land of Israel.
22 只是當他［But when he］聽見亞基老接著他父親希律作了猶太王，就怕往那裏去；然而［notwithstanding］在夢中被神警戒［warned of God］，他便轉［he turned aside］往加利利境內去了；	22 But when he heard that Archelaus had become king over Judaea, in the place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there; and it was revealed to him in a dream to go to the land of Galilee.
