撒母耳記上

第8章

1 撒母耳年邁、使其子爲以色列族士師、

2 長名約珥、次名亞比亞、俱在別是巴爲士師、

3 其子不肖、惟利是視、受賄反正。

4 以色列長老咸集、詣拉瑪見撒母耳、

5 曰、爾年已邁、爾子不肖、請爾簡立一王、以治理我、無異他國。

6 撒母耳聞民欲立王、以治其事、意甚不悅、禱於耶和華、

7 耶和華諭之曰、可從民言、彼不第棄爾、乃亦棄我、不欲我治理之。

8 越在疇昔、我導斯民出於埃及、迄於今日、彼常棄我、服事他上帝、彼之待爾亦若是、

9 可從其言、加以訓誨、示以王之常例。

10 撒母耳以耶和華之言、普告於眾。

11 曰、既欲立王、治理爾曹、試陳其例。王必取爾子、使御車服馬、趨承於前者有之、

12 或立爲千夫長、五十夫長者有之、使耕田畝、穫其所產、作戰具、製車器者、亦有之。

13 王必取爾女、或為製餅餌、或爲廚婢、或爲膳女、

14 又

15 必取爾田畝、葡萄園、橄欖囿之嘉者。爾田所出、葡萄園所產、十取其一、供其宦豎、給其賤役。

16 必取爾驢及爾僕婢、丁男之壯者、使之工作。

17 爾之羊羣、什取其一、以爾為其服役。

18 越至後日、是時爾必因所簡之王而呼籲於上、惟耶和華不俯聞焉、

19 民不聽從撒母耳言、曰、不然、我欲得王、

20 為我治理、導我戰鬪、無異他國。

21 撒母耳以民言告耶和華。

22 耶和華諭之曰、可從民言、爲民立王、撒母耳使以色列族各歸其邑。

1 Samuel

Chapter 8

1 And it came1961 to pass, when834 Samuel8050 was old,2204 that he made7760 his sons1121 judges8199 over Israel.3478

2 Now the name8034 of his firstborn1060 was Joel;3100 and the name8034 of his second,4932 Abiah:29 they were judges8199 in Beersheba.884

3 And his sons1121 walked1980 not in his ways,1870 but turned5186 aside5186 after310 lucre,1215 and took3947 bribes,7810 and perverted5186 judgment.4941

4 Then all3605 the elders2205 of Israel3478 gathered6908 themselves together, and came935 to Samuel8050 to Ramah,7414

5 And said559 to him, Behold,2009 you are old,2204 and your sons1121 walk1980 not in your ways:1870 now6258 make7760 us a king4428 to judge8199 us like all3605 the nations.1471

6 But the thing1697 displeased7489 5869 Samuel,8050 when834 they said,559 Give5414 us a king4428 to judge8199 us. And Samuel8050 prayed6419 to the LORD.3068

7 And the LORD3068 said559 to Samuel,8050 Listen8085 to the voice6963 of the people5971 in all3605 that they say559 to you: for they have not rejected3988 you, but they have rejected3988 me, that I should not reign4427 over5921 them.

8 According to all3605 the works4639 which834 they have done6213 since the day3117 that I brought5927 them up out of Egypt4714 even to this2088 day,3117 with which they have forsaken5800 me, and served5647 other312 gods,430 so3651 do6213 they also1571 to you.

9 Now6258 therefore listen8085 to their voice:6963 however,389 yet3588 protest5749 solemnly5749 to them, and show5046 them the manner4941 of the king4428 that shall reign4427 over5921 them.

10 And Samuel8050 told559 all3605 the words1697 of the LORD3068 to the people5971 that asked7592 of him a king.4428

11 And he said,559 This2088 will be the manner4941 of the king4428 that shall reign4427 over you: He will take3947 your sons,1121 and appoint7760 them for himself, for his chariots,4818 and to be his horsemen;6571 and some shall run7323 before6440 his chariots.4818

12 And he will appoint7760 him captains8269 over thousands,505 and captains8269 over fifties;2572 and will set them to ear2790 his ground,2758 and to reap7114 his harvest,7105 and to make6213 his instruments3627 of war,4421 and instruments3627 of his chariots.7393

13 And he will take3947 your daughters1323 to be confectionaries,7543 and to be cooks,2876 and to be bakers.644

14 And he will take3947 your fields,7704 and your vineyards,3754 and your olive groves,2132 even the best2896 of them, and give5414 them to his servants.5650

15 And he will take the tenth6237 of your seed,2233 and of your vineyards,3754 and give5414 to his officers,5631 and to his servants.5650

19 Nevertheless the people5971 refused3985 to obey8085 the voice6963 of Samuel;8050 and they said,559 No;3808 but we will have1961 a king4428 over5921 us;

20 That we also1571 may be like all3605 the nations;1471 and that our king4428 may judge8199 us, and go3318 out before6440 us, and fight3898 our battles.4421

21 And Samuel8050 heard8085 all3605 the words1697 of the people,5971 and he rehearsed1696 them in the ears241 of the LORD.3068

22 And the LORD3068 said559 to Samuel,8050 Listen8085 to their voice,6963 and make them a king.4428 And Samuel8050 said559 to the men582 of Israel,3478 Go3212 you every man376 to his city.5892

8 越在疇昔、我導斯民出於埃及、迄於今日、彼常棄我、服事他上帝、彼之待爾亦若是、

9 可從其言、加以訓誨、示以王之常例。

11 And he said,559 This2088 will be the manner4941 of the king4428 that shall reign4427 over you: He will take3947 your sons,1121 and appoint7760 them for himself, for his chariots,4818 and to be his horsemen;6571 and some shall run7323 before6440 his chariots.4818

12 或立爲千夫長、五十夫長者有之、使耕田畝、穫其所產、作戰具、製車器者、亦有之。

12 And he will appoint7760 him captains8269 over thousands,505 and captains8269 over fifties;2572 and will set them to ear2790 his ground,2758 and to reap7114 his harvest,7105 and to make6213 his instruments3627 of war,4421 and instruments3627 of his chariots.7393

13 王必取爾女、或為製餅餌、或爲廚婢、或爲膳女、

13 And he will take3947 your daughters1323 to be confectionaries,7543 and to be cooks,2876 and to be bakers.644

14 又

14 And he will take3947 your fields,7704 and your vineyards,3754 and your olive groves,2132 even the best2896 of them, and give5414 them to his servants.5650

15 必取爾田畝、葡萄園、橄欖囿之嘉者。爾田所出、葡萄園所產、十取其一、供其宦豎、給其賤役。

15 And he will take the tenth6237 of your seed,2233 and of your vineyards,3754 and give5414 to his officers,5631 and to his servants.5650

16 必取爾驢及爾僕婢、丁男之壯者、使之工作。

16 And he will take3947 your menservants,5650 and your maidservants,8198 and your best2896 young970 men, and your asses,2543 and put6213 them to his work.4399

17 爾之羊羣、什取其一、以爾為其服役。

17 He will take the tenth6237 of your sheep:6629 and you shall be his servants.5650

18 越至後日、是時爾必因所簡之王而呼籲於上、惟耶和華不俯聞焉、

18 And you shall cry2199 out in that day3117 because6440 of your king4428 which834 you shall have chosen977 you; and the LORD3068 will not hear6030 you in that day.3117

19 民不聽從撒母耳言、曰、不然、我欲得王、

19 Nevertheless the people5971 refused3985 to obey8085 the voice6963 of Samuel;8050 and they said,559 No;3808 but we will have1961 a king4428 over5921 us;

20 為我治理、導我戰鬪、無異他國。

20 That we also1571 may be like all3605 the nations;1471 and that our king4428 may judge8199 us, and go3318 out before6440 us, and fight3898 our battles.4421

21 撒母耳以民言告耶和華。

21 And Samuel8050 heard8085 all3605 the words1697 of the people,5971 and he rehearsed1696 them in the ears241 of the LORD.3068

22 耶和華諭之曰、可從民言、爲民立王、撒母耳使以色列族各歸其邑。
