1 當時、門徒加多、有言希利尼方言之猶太人、怨希伯來人、以日施濟、弗及其嫠也、

2 十二使徒、呼衆門徒、曰、我儕不傳上帝道、而几筵是司、非所宜也、

3 兄弟宜於爾中、擇有衆望、感聖神、具智慧者七人、使司此事、

4 我儕專務祈禱傳道、〇

5 衆然其言、遂選士提反〔編者注：和合本中卽爲司提反〕、其爲人也篤信、感於聖神者也、又選腓力、伯羅哥羅、尼迦挪、提門、巴米拿、安提阿進教之尼哥拉、

6 此數人立使徒前、使徒祈禱、手按之、

7 上帝之道漸長、耶路撒冷門徒增廣矣、祭司多順信焉、

8 士提反篤信多能、大建奇事異蹟於民間、〇

9 時有屬利百地哪、古利奈、亞力山太、基利家、及亞西亞會堂者、起與士提反詰問、

10 士提反慧心銳志而言、衆不能勝、

11 乃賄人使流言曰、我聞此人、僭妄摩西及上帝、

12 百姓聳動與長老士子、突至執之、曳至公會、

13 設證誣之曰、此人僭妄聖所律法不已、

14 我儕曾聞其言曰、拿撒勒耶穌將毀此所、改摩西所授之例也、

15 於是公會中坐者、皆目注士提反、見其容若天使然、

Chapter 6

1 And in those5025 days,2250 when the number of the disciples3101 was multiplied,4129 there arose1096 a murmuring1112 of the Grecians1675 against4314 the Hebrews,1445 because3754 their widows5503 were neglected3865 in the daily2522 ministration.1248

2 Then1161 the twelve1427 called4341 the multitude4128 of the disciples3101 to them, and said,2036 It is not reason701 that we should leave2641 the word3056 of God,2316 and serve1247 tables.5132

3 Why,3767 brothers,80 look1980 you out among1537 you seven2033 men435 of honest report,3140 full4134 of the Holy40 Ghost4151 and wisdom,4678 whom3739 we may appoint2525 over1909 this5026 business.5532

4 But we will give4342 ourselves continually4342 to prayer,4335 and to the ministry1248 of the word.3056

5 And the saying3056 pleased700 the whole3956 multitude:4128 and they chose1586 Stephen,4736 a man435 full4134 of faith4102 and of the Holy40 Ghost,4151 and Philip,5376 and Prochorus,4402 and Nicanor,3527 and Timon,5096 and Parmenas,3937 and Nicolas3532 a proselyte4339 of Antioch:491

6 Whom3739 they set2476 before1799 the apostles:652 and when they had prayed,4336 they laid2007 their hands5495 on2007 them.

7 And the word3056 of God2316 increased;837 and the number706 of the disciples3101 multiplied4129 in Jerusalem2419 greatly;4970 and a great4183 company3793 of the priests2409 were obedient5219 to the faith.4102

8 And Stephen,4736 full4134 of faith4102 and power,1411 did4160 great3173 wonders5059 and miracles4592 among1722 the people.2992

9 Then1161 there arose450 certain5100 of the synagogue,4864 which3588 is called3004 the synagogue4864 of the Libertines,3032 and Cyrenians,2956 and Alexandrians,221 and of them of Cilicia2791 and of Asia,773 disputing4802 with Stephen.4736

10 And they were not able2480 to resist436 the wisdom4678 and the spirit4151 by which3739 he spoke.2980

11 Then5119 they suborned5260 men,435 which said,3004 We have heard191 him speak2980 blasphemous989 words4487 against1519 Moses,3475 and against God.2316

12 And they stirred4787 up the people,2992 and the elders,4245 and the scribes,1122 and came2186 on him, and caught4884 him, and brought71 him to the council,4892

13 And set2476 up false5571 witnesses,3144 which said,3004 This5127 man444 ceases3973 not to speak2980 blasphemous989 words4487 against2596 this3778 holy40 place,5117 and the law:3551

14 For we have heard191 him say,3004 that this5126 Jesus2424 of Nazareth3478 shall destroy2647 this3778 place,5117 and shall change236 the customs1485 which3739 Moses3475 delivered3860 us.

15 And all537 that sat2516 in the council,4892 looking816 steadfastly816 on1519 him, saw1492 his face4383 as it had been the face4383 of an angel.32
