Глава 28

1 – Есть рудник для серебра, и для золота есть горн плавильный.

2 Из земли добывают железо, и плавят медь из руды.

3 Рудокоп освещает тьму, ищет он в отдалённых пределах руду в непроглядной мгле.

4 Далеко от жилья он роет колодец, в местах, позабытых человеком; вдали от всех висит он, покачиваясь.

5 Земля, которая произращает хлеб, изнутри изрыта, будто огнём.

6 Сапфиров россыпь в её камнях, и в ней – золотой песок.

7 Пути к ним не знает хищная птица, соколиный глаз их не видел.

8 Дикие звери их не топтали, и лев по ним не ходил.

9 Человек на гранит поднимает руку и с корнем вырывает горы.

10 Он прорубает проходы в скалах, и глаза его видят все их сокровища.

11 Он ищет истоки рек и сокровенное выносит на свет.

12 Но где можно найти мудрость? Где обитает разум?

13 Не знает смертный её дома; . на земле живых её не найти.

14 Пучина скажет: «Во мне её нет», и молвит море: «Не у меня она».

15 Её не купить за червонное золото, не отвесить цену её серебром.

16 Не купить её ни за золото из Офира, ни за драгоценный оникс или сапфир.

17 Не сравнить её с золотом и кристаллом, на утварь из чистого золота не обменять.

18 А о кораллах и яшме нечего и говорить; стоит мудрость дороже рубинов.

19 Не сравнить с ней топазы из Эфиопии, не купить её за отменное золото.

20 Откуда приходит мудрость? Где обитает разум?

21 Скрыта она от глаз всех живущих и от птиц небесных утаена.

22 Мир мёртвых и царство смерти говорят: «Мы слышали только слух о ней».

23 Только Всевышнему ведом к ней путь, Он знает её жилище,

24 ведь Он озирает края земли и видит всё, что под небесами.

25 Когда Он давал ветру силу и водам ставил пределы,

26 когда Он дождю предписал устав и путь проложил для молний,

27 Он увидел мудрость и восхвалил её, утвердил её, испытал

28 и сказал человеку: «Воистину, страх перед Владыкой – вот мудрость, сторониться зла – это разум».

1 Surely3588 there is a vein4161 for the silver,3701 and a place4725 for gold2091 where they fine2212 it.

2 Iron1270 is taken3947 out of the earth,6083 and brass5154 is molten6694 out of the stone.68

3 He sets7760 an end7093 to darkness,2822 and searches2713 out all3605 perfection:8503 the stones68 of darkness,652 and the shadow6757 of death.6757

4 The flood5158 breaks6555 out from the inhabitant;1481 even the waters forgotten7911 of the foot:7272 they are dried1809 up, they are gone5128 away from men.582

5 As for the earth,776 out of it comes3318 bread:3899 and under8478 it is turned2015 up as it were fire.784

6 The stones68 of it are the place4725 of sapphires:5601 and it has dust6083 of gold.2091

7 There is a path5410 which no3808 fowl5861 knows,3045 and which the vulture's344 eye5869 has not seen:7805

8 The lion's7830 whelps1121 have not trodden1869 it, nor3808 the fierce7826 lion7826 passed5710 by it.

9 He puts7971 forth7971 his hand3027 on the rock;2496 he overturns2015 the mountains2022 by the roots.8328

10 He cuts1234 out rivers2975 among the rocks;6697 and his eye5869 sees7200 every3605 precious3366 thing.

11 He binds2280 the floods5104 from overflowing;1065 and the thing that is hid8587 brings3318 he forth3318 to light.216

12 But where370 shall wisdom2451 be found?4672 and where335 2088 is the place4725 of understanding?998

13 Man582 knows3045 not the price6187 thereof; neither3808 is it found4672 in the land776 of the living.2416

14 The depth8415 said,559 It is not in me: and the sea3220 said,559 It is not with me.

15 It cannot3808 be gotten5414 for gold,5458 neither3808 shall silver3701 be weighed8254 for the price4242 thereof.

16 It cannot3808 be valued5541 with the gold3800 of Ophir,211 with the precious3368 onyx,7718 or the sapphire.5601

17 The gold2091 and the crystal2137 cannot3808 equal6186 it: and the exchange8545 of it shall not be for jewels3627 of fine gold.6337

18 No3808 mention2142 shall be made of coral,7215 or of pearls:1378 for the price4901 of wisdom2451 is above rubies.6443

19 The topaz6357 of Ethiopia3568 shall not equal6186 it, neither3808 shall it be valued5541 with pure2889 gold.3800

20 From where370 then comes935 wisdom?2451 and where335 is the place4725 of understanding?998

21 Seeing it is hid5956 from the eyes5869 of all3605 living,2416 and kept5641 close5641 from the fowls5775 of the air.8064

22 Destruction11 and death4194 say,559 We have heard8085 the fame8088 thereof with our ears.241

23 God430 understands995 the way1870 thereof, and he knows3045 the place4725 thereof.

24 For he looks5027 to the ends7098 of the earth,776 and sees7200 under8478 the whole3605 heaven;8064

25 To make6213 the weight4948 for the winds;7307 and he weighs8505 the waters4325 by measure.4060

26 When he made6213 a decree2706 for the rain,4306 and a way1870 for the lightning2385 of the thunder:6963
