Chapter 7

1 WHEN he had finished all of these words, in the hearing of the people, Jesus entered Capernaum.

2 Now the servant of a centurion was seriously sick, one who was very dear to him; and he was near death.

3 And when he heard about Jesus, he sent to him Jewish elders, and besought him to come and heal his servant.

4 When they came to Jesus, they begged him earnestly, saying, He is worthy to have this done for him;

5 For he loves our people, and has even built us a synagogue.

6 Jesus went with them. And when he was not far from the house, the centurion sent some of his friends to him, and said, My Lord, do not trouble yourself; for I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof;

7 That is why I was not worthy to come to you; but just say a word and my boy will be healed.

8 For I am also a man in government service, and there are soldiers under my command; and I say to this one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.

9 When Jesus heard these things, he was amazed at him, and he turned and said to the people who followed him, I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such faith as this.

10 So those who were sent returned to the house, and found the servant who was sick, healed.

11 And it came to pass on the next day, he was going to a city called Nain; and his disciples were with him, and many people.

12 And when they came near the gate of the city, he saw a dead man being carried out, who was the only son of his mother, and his mother was a widow; and many people of the city were with her.

13 When Jesus saw her, he had compassion on her, and said to her, Weep not.

14 Then he went and touched the bier, and those who carried it stood still. And he said, Young man, I tell you, Arise.

15 And the dead man sat up, and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother.

16 And all men were seized with fear; and they praised God, saying, A great prophet is risen among us; and, God has visited his people.

17 And this word about him went out through all Judaea, and through the country around them.

18 And John's disciples told him all these things.

19 So John called two of his disciples, and sent them to Jesus, and said, Are you the one who is to come? or are we to expect another one?

20 And they came to Jesus and said to him, John the Baptist has sent us to you, saying, Are you the one who is to come? or are we to expect another one?

21 In that very hour, he healed a great many of their diseases and plagues, and of evil spirits; and he gave sight to many blind men.

22 So Jesus answered and said to them, Go and tell John everything that you have seen and heard; that the blind see, and the lame walk, and the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead rise up, and the poor are given hope.

23 And blessed is he, who does not stumble on account of me.

24 When John's disciples had gone, Jesus began to speak to the people concerning John, What did you go out to the wilderness to see? A reed which is shaken by the wind?

25 If not so, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Behold, those who wear fine clothes and live delicately are in kings' houses.

26 And if not so, what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and much more than a prophet.

27 This is he of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, to prepare the way before you.

28 I say to you that there is no prophet among those who are born of women, who is greater than John the Baptist; and yet even the least person in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

29 And all the people who heard it, even the publicans, justified themselves before God, for they were baptized with the baptism of John.

30 But the Pharisees and the scribes suppressed the will of God in themselves, because they were not baptized by him.

31 To whom, therefore, shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?

32 They are like boys who sit in the street, and call to their friends and say, We have sung to you but you did not dance; and we have wailed to you and you did not weep.

33 For John the Baptist came, neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and you say, He is insane.

34 The Son of man came, eating and drinking; and you say, Behold, a glutton and a winebibber, and a friend of publicans and sinners!

35 And yet wisdom is justified by all its works.

36 Then one of the Pharisees came and asked him to eat with him. And he entered the house of that Pharisee and reclined as a guest.

37 Now there was in that city a woman who was a sinner; and when she knew that he was a guest in the Pharisee's house, she took an alabaster cruse of perfume,

38 And she stood behind him at his feet, weeping, and she began to wet his feet with her tears, and to wipe them with the hair of her head, and she kissed his feet, and anointed them with perfume.

39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he reasoned in himself and said, If this man were a prophet, he would have known who she was and her reputation; for the woman who has touched him is a sinner.

40 Jesus answered and said to him, Simon, I have something to tell you. He said to him, Say it, teacher. Jesus said to him,

41 There were two men who were debtors to a creditor; one of them owed him five hundred pence, and the other one fifty pence.

42 And because they had nothing to pay, he forgave them both. Which one of them will love him more?

43 Simon answered and said, I think the one to whom he forgave more. Jesus said to him, You have judged truly.

44 And he turned to the woman, and said to Simon, Do you see this woman? I entered your house, you did not give me even water for my feet; but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with her hair.

45 You did not kiss me; but she, since she entered, has not ceased to kiss my feet.

46 You did not anoint my head with oil; but she has anointed my feet with perfume.

47 For this reason, I say to you, Her many sins are forgiven, because she loved much; but he to whom little is forgiven, loves little.

48 And he said to the woman, Your sins are forgiven.

49 Then the guests began to say within themselves, Who is this man, who forgives even sins?

50 Jesus said to the woman, Your faith has saved you; go in peace.

1 Окончив Свою речь, Иисус вошёл в Капернаум.

2 Там находился один центурион, чей слуга был так болен, что находился при смерти. Этот слуга был очень дорог центуриону.

3 Услышав об Иисусе, он послал к Нему иудейских старейшин с просьбой прийти и спасти его слугу.

4 Они пришли к Иисусу и стали умолять Его: «Этот центурион достоин Твоей помощи.

5 Он любит наш народ и даже построил для нас синагогу».

6 Иисус пошёл с ними, но, когда Он был уже недалеко от дома, центурион послал друзей передать Ему: «Не утруждай Себя, Господи! Я недостоин, чтобы Ты вошёл под мой кров,

7 потому я и сам не счёл себя достойным прийти к Тебе. Но стоит только Тебе приказать, и мой слуга будет исцелён.

8 Я подвластный человек, и в моём подчинении находятся солдаты. Я говорю одному: „Иди!” — и он идёт, другому: „Приди!” — и он приходит, говорю слуге: „Сделай это!” — и он делает».

9 Иисус услышал и поразился и, повернувшись к толпе, шедшей за Ним, сказал: «Говорю вам, что не встречал Я такой веры даже в Израиле».

10 Вернувшись домой, посыльные нашли слугу исцелённым.

11 На следующий день Иисус пошёл в город Наин, сопровождаемый учениками и большой толпой народа.

12 Когда Он подходил к городским воротам, люди выносили умершего, единственного сына вдовы. С ней было много народа.

13 Увидев её, Господь исполнился жалости к ней и сказал: «Не плачь».

14 Он подошёл и дотронулся до гроба. Люди, которые несли гроб, остановились, и Иисус сказал: «Юноша, говорю тебе, встань!»

15 Сразу же он сел и стал говорить. Так Иисус вернул юношу его матери.

16 Всех охватил страх, и все славили Бога: «Великий пророк появился среди нас». И ещё: «Бог заботится о Своём народе».

17 Весть об Иисусе распространилась по всей Иудее и окрестным местам.

18 Ученики Иоанна рассказали ему обо всём, что совершил Иисус.

19 Позвав двух учеников, Иоанн послал их к Господу спросить: «Ты ли Тот, Кто должен прийти, или ждать нам другого?»

20 Придя к Иисусу, они сказали: «Иоанн Креститель послал нас к Тебе спросить: Ты ли Тот, Кто должен прийти, или ждать нам другого?»

21 В то время Иисус исцелил многих людей от болезней, недугов, нечистых духов и многим слепым даровал зрение.

22 Он же ответил ученикам: «Идите и расскажите Иоанну о том, что видели и слышали: слепые прозревают, хромые начинают ходить, прокажённые очищаются, к глухим возвращается слух, мёртвые воскресают, нищие слышат Благую Весть.

23 Блажен тот, кто принимает Меня».

24 Когда же посыльные Иоанна ушли, Иисус стал говорить народу об Иоанне: «На что вы ходили смотреть в пустыне? На тростник, раскачиваемый ветром?

25 На что же вы ходили смотреть? На человека, одетого в роскошные одежды? Но люди, одевающиеся в роскошные одежды и живущие в роскоши, живут в царских дворцах.

26 На что же вы ходили смотреть? На пророка? Да, Я говорю вам, что Иоанн больше, чем пророк.

27 Это тот, о котором сказано: „Смотри! Я посылаю перед Тобой вестника Своего. Он подготовит Тебе путь”.

28 Я говорю вам, что среди всех людей, когда-либо родившихся, нет человека, который бы превосходил Иоанна в величии, но самый малый в Царстве Божьем превосходит его в величии».

29 И весь народ, слушавший Иисуса, даже сборщики налогов, признали правду Божью, приняв крещение Иоанна.

30 Но фарисеи и законоучители отвергли волю Божью о себе, отказавшись креститься у Иоанна.

31 Иисус продолжил: «С кем Мне сравнить людей этого поколения? Кому подобны они?

32 Они подобны детям, сидящим на рыночной площади и говорящим друг другу: „Мы играли для вас на свирели, но вы не плясали. Мы пели печальную песню, но вы не печалились”.

33 Пришёл Иоанн Креститель. Он не ест хлеба, не пьёт вина, и вы говорите: „В нём сидит бес”.

34 Пришёл Сын Человеческий. Он ест и пьёт, и вы говорите: „Посмотрите на Этого Человека! Он слишком много ест и пьёт слишком много вина, Он друг сборщиков налогов и грешников”.

35 Мудрость же доказывается поступками».

36 Один фарисей пригласил Иисуса поесть с ним. Иисус вошёл в дом фарисея и занял место за столом.

37 В то время в городе жила одна грешница. Узнав, что Иисус ест в доме фарисея, она принесла алебастровый сосуд с благовонным маслом.

38 Стоя у ног Иисуса и плача, она обливала Его ноги слезами и вытирала их своими волосами, целовала Его ноги и мазала их благовониями.

39 Видя это, фарисей, пригласивший Иисуса, сказал про себя: «Если бы Этот Человек был пророком, Он бы знал, что женщина, прикасающаяся к Нему, — грешница».

40 Иисус обратился к нему с такими словами: «Симон, Я хочу сказать тебе кое-что». Симон ответил: «Скажи, Учитель».

41 Тогда Иисус спросил: «У ростовщика было два должника: один должен был ему пятьсот серебряных монет, а другой пятьдесят.

42 Но так как им было нечем заплатить, то он простил им долг. Который из двоих будет больше любить ростовщика?»

43 Симон ответил: «Я думаю тот, которому он простил больше денег». «Ты рассудил правильно, — сказал Иисус

44 и, повернувшись к женщине, продолжал, — ты видишь эту женщину? Я пришёл в твой дом, но ты не дал Мне воды омыть ноги, а она омыла Мои ноги слезами и осушила их своими волосами.

45 Ты Меня не поцеловал, а она, с тех пор как Я вошёл, не перестаёт целовать Мои ноги.

46 Ты мне голову не помазал маслом, а она помазала Мои ноги благовонным маслом.

47 И поэтому Я говорю тебе, что у этой женщины было много грехов, но они прощаются ей. Вот почему она любит сильно. А тот, кому мало прощается, и любит мало».

48 И сказал Иисус женщине: «Твои грехи прощаются тебе».

49 Все гости стали говорить между собой: «Кто же Это Такой, что даже грехи может отпускать?»

50 Иисус же сказал женщине: «Твоя вера спасла тебя. Иди с миром».

2 Now the servant of a centurion was seriously sick, one who was very dear to him; and he was near death.	2 Там находился один центурион, чей слуга был так болен, что находился при смерти. Этот слуга был очень дорог центуриону.
3 And when he heard about Jesus, he sent to him Jewish elders, and besought him to come and heal his servant.	3 Услышав об Иисусе, он послал к Нему иудейских старейшин с просьбой прийти и спасти его слугу.
4 When they came to Jesus, they begged him earnestly, saying, He is worthy to have this done for him;	4 Они пришли к Иисусу и стали умолять Его: «Этот центурион достоин Твоей помощи.
5 For he loves our people, and has even built us a synagogue.	5 Он любит наш народ и даже построил для нас синагогу».
6 Jesus went with them. And when he was not far from the house, the centurion sent some of his friends to him, and said, My Lord, do not trouble yourself; for I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof;	6 Иисус пошёл с ними, но, когда Он был уже недалеко от дома, центурион послал друзей передать Ему: «Не утруждай Себя, Господи! Я говорю одному: „Иди!” — и он идёт, другому: „Приди!” — и он приходит, говорю слуге: „Сделай это!” — и он делает».
9 When Jesus heard these things, he was amazed at him, and he turned and said to the people who followed him, I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such faith as this.	9 Иисус услышал и поразился и, повернувшись к толпе, шедшей за Ним, сказал: «Говорю вам, что не встречал Я такой веры даже в Израиле».
10 So those who were sent returned to the house, and found the servant who was sick, healed.	10 Вернувшись домой, посыльные нашли слугу исцелённым.
11 And it came to pass on the next day, he was going to a city called Nain; and his disciples were with him, and many people.	11 На следующий день Иисус пошёл в город Наин, сопровождаемый учениками и большой толпой народа.

15 And the dead man sat up, and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother.	15 Сразу же он сел и стал говорить. Так Иисус вернул юношу его матери.
16 And all men were seized with fear; and they praised God, saying, A great prophet is risen among us; and, God has visited his people.	16 Всех охватил страх, и все славили Бога: «Великий пророк появился среди нас». И ещё: «Бог заботится о Своём народе».
17 And this word about him went out through all Judaea, and through the country around them.	17 Весть об Иисусе распространилась по всей Иудее и окрестным местам.
18 And John's disciples told him all these things.	18 Ученики Иоанна рассказали ему обо всём, что совершил Иисус.
19 So John called two of his disciples, and sent them to Jesus, and said, Are you the one who is to come? or are we to expect another one?	19 Позвав двух учеников, Иоанн послал их к Господу спросить: «Ты ли Тот, Кто должен прийти, или ждать нам другого?»
20 And they came to Jesus and said to him, John the Baptist has sent us to you, saying, Are you the one who is to come? or are we to expect another one?	20 Придя к Иисусу, они сказали: «Иоанн Креститель послал нас к Тебе спросить: Ты ли Тот, Кто должен прийти, или ждать нам другого?»

28 I say to you that there is no prophet among those who are born of women, who is greater than John the Baptist; and yet even the least person in the kingdom of God is greater than he.	28 Я говорю вам, что среди всех людей, когда-либо родившихся, нет человека, который бы превосходил Иоанна в величии, но самый малый в Царстве Божьем превосходит его в величии».
29 And all the people who heard it, even the publicans, justified themselves before God, for they were baptized with the baptism of John.	29 И весь народ, слушавший Иисуса, даже сборщики налогов, признали правду Божью, приняв крещение Иоанна.
30 But the Pharisees and the scribes suppressed the will of God in themselves, because they were not baptized by him.	30 Но фарисеи и законоучители отвергли волю Божью о себе, отказавшись креститься у Иоанна.
31 To whom, therefore, shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?	31 Иисус продолжил: «С кем Мне сравнить людей этого поколения? Кому подобны они?
32 They are like boys who sit in the street, and call to their friends and say, We have sung to you but you did not dance; and we have wailed to you and you did not weep.	32 Они подобны детям, сидящим на рыночной площади и говорящим друг другу: „Мы играли для вас на свирели, но вы не плясали. Мы пели печальную песню, но вы не печалились”.
33 For John the Baptist came, neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and you say, He is insane.	33 Пришёл Иоанн Креститель. Он не ест хлеба, не пьёт вина, и вы говорите: „В нём сидит бес”.
34 The Son of man came, eating and drinking; and you say, Behold, a glutton and a winebibber, and a friend of publicans and sinners!	34 Пришёл Сын Человеческий. Он ест и пьёт, и вы говорите: „Посмотрите на Этого Человека! Он слишком много ест и пьёт слишком много вина, Он друг сборщиков налогов и грешников”.
35 And yet wisdom is justified by all its works.	35 Мудрость же доказывается поступками».
36 Then one of the Pharisees came and asked him to eat with him. And he entered the house of that Pharisee and reclined as a guest.	36 Один фарисей пригласил Иисуса поесть с ним. Иисус вошёл в дом фарисея и занял место за столом.
37 Now there was in that city a woman who was a sinner; and when she knew that he was a guest in the Pharisee's house, she took an alabaster cruse of perfume,	37 В то время в городе жила одна грешница. Узнав, что Иисус ест в доме фарисея, она принесла алебастровый сосуд с благовонным маслом.
38 And she stood behind him at his feet, weeping, and she began to wet his feet with her tears, and to wipe them with the hair of her head, and she kissed his feet, and anointed them with perfume.	38 Стоя у ног Иисуса и плача, она обливала Его ноги слезами и вытирала их своими волосами, целовала Его ноги и мазала их благовониями.
39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he reasoned in himself and said, If this man were a prophet, he would have known who she was and her reputation; for the woman who has touched him is a sinner.	39 Видя это, фарисей, пригласивший Иисуса, сказал про себя: «Если бы Этот Человек был пророком, Он бы знал, что женщина, прикасающаяся к Нему, — грешница».
40 Jesus answered and said to him, Simon, I have something to tell you. He said to him, Say it, teacher. Jesus said to him,	40 Иисус обратился к нему с такими словами: «Симон, Я хочу сказать тебе кое-что». Симон ответил: «Скажи, Учитель».

44 And he turned to the woman, and said to Simon, Do you see this woman? Я пришёл в твой дом, но ты не дал Мне воды омыть ноги, а она омыла Мои ноги слезами и осушила их своими волосами.
45 You did not kiss me; but she, since she entered, has not ceased to kiss my feet.	45 Ты Меня не поцеловал, а она, с тех пор как Я вошёл, не перестаёт целовать Мои ноги.
46 You did not anoint my head with oil; but she has anointed my feet with perfume.	46 Ты мне голову не помазал маслом, а она помазала Мои ноги благовонным маслом.

48 And he said to the woman, Your sins are forgiven.	48 И сказал Иисус женщине: «Твои грехи прощаются тебе».
49 Then the guests began to say within themselves, Who is this man, who forgives even sins?	49 Все гости стали говорить между собой: «Кто же Это Такой, что даже грехи может отпускать?»
50 Jesus said to the woman, Your faith has saved you; go in peace.	50 Иисус же сказал женщине: «Твоя вера спасла тебя. Иди с миром».
