1 У вавилонских рек сидели мы и плакали, вспоминая Сион.

2 На ивы арфы мы повесили свои.

3 Пленившие нас требовали песен от нас, счастливых песен о Сионе.

4 Но можно ли нам петь Господние песни, когда в неволе мы в чужой земле.

5 Пусть руки мои больше никогда играть не смогут, если тебя, Иерусалим, забуду я.

6 Да прилипнет к нёбу мой язык, если тебя, Иерусалим, забуду. Иерусалим навеки будет самым великим наслаждением для меня.

7 Вспомни, что народ едомский сделал, когда разрушен был Иерусалим. Вспомни, как он сказал: «Разрушь Иерусалим! Разрушь его до основания!»

8 Ты будешь уничтожен, Вавилон. И будет тот благословен, кто на тебя наложит заслуженное наказание, кто отплатит тебе всем тем, что ты нам причинил.

9 Благословен, кто разобьёт о скалы твоих младенцев.
