1 Молитва пророка Аввакума.
2 Господи, услышал я весть о Тебе, и я изумлён великими делами, которые Ты в прошлом совершил! Теперь же я молю, чтобы Ты сотворил великие дела и в наше время. Дай деяниям этим случиться в дни нашей жизни, но в гневе Своём вспомни и к нам милость прояви. Селах
3 Бог идёт из Фемана. Святой идёт от горы Фаран. Селах Величие Господа покрыло небеса! Славой Его наполнилась земля!
4 От руки Его исходят лучи света, она как яркий свет. В руке Его скрыта такая великая сила!
5 Впереди Него шли болезни, а по Его стопам разрушение шло.
6 Господь стоял и судил землю, и под Его взглядом в страхе затрепетали народы всех стран, обрушились вековые горы, и осели древние холмы. Испокон веков Господь совершал эти дела!
7 Я видел, что в беде города Кушана, а дома земли Мадиамской дрожали от страха.
8 Господи, разве гневался Ты на реки? Разве гневался Ты на потоки? Разве гневался Ты на море, когда скакали Твои кони и победоносные колесницы?
9 И даже тогда Ты показал радугу в доказательство Твоего соглашения с народами земли. Селах Ты рассёк землю реками.
10 Увидев Тебя, сотрясались вершины. Воды отступили от суши; вода морская взревела, потому что потеряла она власть над землёй.
11 Луна и солнце потеряли свой блеск и перестали светить, видя яркие вспышки Твоих молний. Эти молнии были подобны копьям и стрелам, летящим в небесах.
12 В гневе Ты проходил по земле, и, негодуя, Ты карал народы.
13 Ты пришёл, чтобы спасти Свой народ, чтобы вести к победе Тобою избранного царя. Ты убил главу каждой бесчестной семьи, от самых малых до самых великих в стране. Селах
14 Посохом Моисея Ты остановил солдат врага, которые, грозе подобно, пришли сражаться против нас. Они думали, что нас победить так же легко, как тайно ограбить бедняка.
15 Своих коней Ты провёл через море, от них всколыхнулись великие воды.
16 Всё моё тело сотряслось, когда я услышал рассказ, и губы задрожали мелкой дрожью. Ослабели кости мои, и я стоял содрогаясь. Но я терпеливо буду ждать тот день, когда гибель нагрянет на наших врагов.
17 Даже если фиговые деревья перестанут плодоносить и виноград не созреет на лозе, даже если оливы не принесут плодов и поля не дадут урожая, даже если не останется в загоне овец и не будет скота в стойлах,
18 я всё же буду радоваться в Господе и ликовать в Спасителе моём.
19 Господь Всемогущий даёт мне силу, Он помогает мне бежать как быстроногому оленю, и бережно в горы меня ведёт. Дирижёру хора. Для струнных инструментов.

17 Даже если фиговые деревья перестанут плодоносить и виноград не созреет на лозе, даже если оливы не принесут плодов и поля не дадут урожая, даже если не останется в загоне овец и не будет скота в стойлах,

18 я всё же буду радоваться в Господе и ликовать в Спасителе моём.
