Chapter 2

1 And Joshua3091 the son1121 of Nun5126 sent7971 out of4480 Shittim7851 two8147 men376 to spy7270 secretly,2791 saying,559 Go1980 view7200 853 the land,776 even Jericho.3405 And they went,1980 and came into935 a harlot's802 2181 house,1004 named8034 Rahab,7343 and lodged7901 there.8033

2 And it was told559 the king4428 of Jericho,3405 saying,559 Behold,2009 there came935 men376 in hither2008 tonight3915 of the children4480 1121 of Israel3478 to search out2658 853 the country.776

3 And the king4428 of Jericho3405 sent7971 unto413 Rahab,7343 saying,559 Bring forth3318 the men376 that are come935 to413 thee, which834 are entered935 into thine house:1004 for3588 they be come935 to search out2658 853 all3605 the country.776

4 And the woman802 took3947 853 the two8147 men,376 and hid6845 them, and said559 thus,3651 There came935 men376 unto413 me, but I knew3045 not3808 whence4480 370 they1992 were:

5 And it came to pass1961 about the time of shutting5462 of the gate,8179 when it was dark,2822 that the men376 went out:3318 whither575 the men376 went1980 I know3045 not:3808 pursue7291 after310 them quickly;4118 for3588 ye shall overtake5381 them.

6 But she1931 had brought them up5927 to the roof1406 of the house, and hid2934 them with the stalks6086 of flax,6593 which she had laid in order6186 upon5921 the roof.1406

7 And the men376 pursued7291 after310 them the way1870 to Jordan3383 unto5921 the fords:4569 and as soon as310 834 they which pursued7291 after310 them were gone out,3318 they shut5462 the gate.8179

8 And before2962 they1992 were laid down,7901 she1931 came up5927 unto5921 them upon5921 the roof;1406

9 And she said559 unto413 the men,376 I know3045 that3588 the LORD3068 hath given5414 you853 the land,776 and that3588 your terror367 is fallen5307 upon5921 us, and that3588 all3605 the inhabitants3427 of the land776 faint4127 because of4480 6440 you.

10 For3588 we have heard8085 853 how834 the LORD3068 dried up3001 853 the water4325 of the Red5488 sea3220 for4480 6440 you, when ye came out3318 of Egypt;4480 4714 and what834 ye did6213 unto the two8147 kings4428 of the Amorites,567 that834 were on the other side5676 Jordan,3383 Sihon5511 and Og,5747 whom834 ye utterly destroyed.2763 853

11 And as soon as we had heard8085 these things, our hearts3824 did melt,4549 neither3808 did there remain6965 any more5750 courage7307 in any man376 because of4480 6440 you: for3588 the LORD3068 your God,430 he1931 is God430 in heaven8064 above,4480 4605 and in5921 earth776 beneath.4480 8478

12 Now6258 therefore, I pray4994 you, swear7650 unto me by the LORD,3068 since3588 I have showed you kindness,6213 5973 2617 that ye859 will also1571 show6213 kindness2617 unto5973 my father's1 house,1004 and give5414 me a true571 token: 226

13 And that ye will save alive2421 853 my father,1 and my mother,517 and my brethren,251 and my sisters,269 and all3605 that834 they have, and deliver5337 853 our lives5315 from death.4480 4194

14 And the men376 answered559 her, Our life5315 for8478 yours, if518 ye utter5046 not3808 853 this2088 our business.1697 And it shall be,1961 when the LORD3068 hath given5414 us853 the land,776 that we will deal6213 kindly2617 and truly571 with5973 thee.

15 Then she let them down3381 by a cord2256 through1157 the window:2474 for3588 her house1004 was upon the town2346 wall,7023 and she1931 dwelt3427 upon the wall.2346

16 And she said559 unto them, Get1980 you to the mountain,2022 lest6435 the pursuers7291 meet6293 you; and hide yourselves2247 there8033 three7969 days,3117 until5704 the pursuers7291 be returned:7725 and afterward310 may ye go1980 your way.1870

17 And the men376 said559 unto413 her, We587 will be blameless5355 of this thine oath4480 7621 2088 which834 thou hast made us swear.7650

18 Behold,2009 when we587 come935 into the land,776 thou shalt bind7194 853 this2088 line8615 of scarlet8144 thread2339 in the window2474 which834 thou didst let us down3381 by: and thou shalt bring622 thy father,1 and thy mother,517 and thy brethren,251 and all3605 thy father's1 household,1004 home1004 unto413 thee.

19 And it shall be,1961 that whosoever3605 834 shall go out3318 of the doors4480 1817 of thy house1004 into the street,2351 his blood1818 shall be upon his head,7218 and we587 will be guiltless:5355 and whosoever3605 834 shall be1961 with854 thee in the house,1004 his blood1818 shall be on our head,7218 if518 any hand3027 be1961 upon him.

20 And if518 thou utter5046 853 this2088 our business,1697 then we will be1961 quit5355 of thine oath4480 7621 which834 thou hast made us to swear.7650

21 And she said,559 According unto your words,1697 so3651 be it.1931 And she sent them away,7971 and they departed:1980 and she bound7194 853 the scarlet8144 line8615 in the window.2474

22 And they went,1980 and came935 unto the mountain,2022 and abode3427 there8033 three7969 days,3117 until5704 the pursuers7291 were returned:7725 and the pursuers7291 sought1245 them throughout all3605 the way,1870 but found4672 them not.3808

23 So the two8147 men376 returned,7725 and descended3381 from the mountain,4480 2022 and passed over,5674 and came935 to413 Joshua3091 the son1121 of Nun,5126 and told5608 him853 all3605 things that befell4672 them:

24 And they said559 unto413 Joshua,3091 Truly3588 the LORD3068 hath delivered5414 into our hands3027 853 all3605 the land;776 for even1571 all3605 the inhabitants3427 of the country776 do faint4127 because of4480 6440 us.

1 Тогда Иисус, сын Навин, послал из Ситтима двух соглядатаев тайно, и сказал: пойдите, осмотрите землю, и Иерихон. [Два юноши] пошли и пришли [в Иерихон и зашли] в дом блудницы, коей имя Рахавь, и остались ночевать там.

2 И сказано царю Иерихонскому: вот, какие-то люди из сынов Израилевых пришли сюда ночью, чтобы высмотреть землю.

3 Царь Иерихонский послал [и велел] сказать Рахави: выдай людей, пришедших к тебе, которые пришли в твой дом [ночью]; ибо они пришли высмотреть всю землю.

4 Но женщина взяла двух человек тех и скрыла их, и сказала [оным] посланным : точно приходили ко мне люди, но я не знала, откуда они.

5 Когда же в сумерки надлежало затворять ворота, тогда они ушли; не знаю, куда они пошли. Гонитесь скорее за ними; может быть, вы догоните их.

6 А она отвела их на кровлю, и скрыла их в снопах льна, разложенных у ней на кровле.

7 Посланные гнались за ними по дороге к Иордану до самой переправы чрез него ; а ворота между тем затворили, после того как вышли погнавшиеся за ними.

8 Прежде нежели они легли спать, она взошла к ним на кровлю,

9 И сказала им: я знаю, что Господь отдал землю сию вам, и что вы навели на нас ужас, и что все жители земли сей пришли от вас в робость.

10 Ибо мы слышали, как Иегова [Бог] иссушил для вас воду Чермного моря, когда вы шли из Египта, и как поступили вы с двумя царями Аморрейскими за Иорданом, с Сигоном и Огом, которых вы предали заклятию.

11 От сего слуха ослабело сердце наше, и ни в ком [из нас] уже не осталось духа против вас; ибо Иегова, Бог ваш, есть Бог на небе вверху, и на земле внизу.

12 И так поклянитесь мне Иеговою, [Богом вашим,] что, как я сделала вам милость, так и вы сделаете милость дому отца моего. Дайте мне верный знак,

13 Что вы сохраните в живых отца моего и матерь мою, и братьев моих и сестер моих, и всех, кто есть у них, и избавите души наши от смерти.

14 Они сказали ей: душа наша вместо вас да будет предана смерти! Если вы [ныне] не откроете сего дела нашего, то, когда Господь предаст нам землю, мы окажем тебе милость и благодеяние.

15 И спустила она их по веревке в окно; ибо дом ее был в городской стене, и она жила в стене,

16 Сказав им: идите на гору, чтобы не встретили вас преследующие, и скрывайтесь там три дня, пока не возвратятся погнавшиеся [за вами]; а после пойдете в путь свой.

17 Они сказали ей: мы свободны будем от твоей клятвы, которою ты нас закляла, если не сделаешь сего :

18 Вот, когда мы придем в землю, ты веревку из червленых нитей, по которой ты нас спустила, привяжи к окну, а отца твоего и матерь твою и братьев твоих, все семейство отца твоего собери к себе в [свой] дом.

19 Тогда если кто-нибудь выйдет из дверей твоего дома вон, того кровь на голове его, а мы свободны [будем от сей клятвы твоей]; а кто будет с тобою в [твоем] доме, того кровь на голове нашей, если чья рука коснется его.

20 Если же [кто нас обидит, или] ты откроешь сие наше дело; то мы также свободны будем от клятвы твоей [сей], которою ты нас закляла.

21 Она сказала: да будет по словам вашим! И отпустила их, и они пошли, а она привязала к окну червленую веревку.

22 Они пошли и пришли в гору, и пробыли там три дня, пока не возвратились гнавшиеся за ними . Гнавшиеся искали их по всей дороге, и не нашли.

23 Таким образом два сии человека пошли назад, сошли с горы, перешли [Иордан] и пришли к Иисусу, сыну Навину, и пересказали ему все, что с ними случилось.

24 И сказали Иисусу: Иегова [Бог наш] предал всю землю сию в руки наши, и все жители земли от нас пришли в робость.

2 И сказано царю Иерихонскому: вот, какие-то люди из сынов Израилевых пришли сюда ночью, чтобы высмотреть землю.

3 Царь Иерихонский послал [и велел] сказать Рахави: выдай людей, пришедших к тебе, которые пришли в твой дом [ночью]; ибо они пришли высмотреть всю землю.

4 Но женщина взяла двух человек тех и скрыла их, и сказала [оным] посланным : точно приходили ко мне люди, но я не знала, откуда они.

5 Когда же в сумерки надлежало затворять ворота, тогда они ушли; не знаю, куда они пошли. Гонитесь скорее за ними; может быть, вы догоните их.

7 Посланные гнались за ними по дороге к Иордану до самой переправы чрез него ; а ворота между тем затворили, после того как вышли погнавшиеся за ними.

8 Прежде нежели они легли спать, она взошла к ним на кровлю,

11 От сего слуха ослабело сердце наше, и ни в ком [из нас] уже не осталось духа против вас; ибо Иегова, Бог ваш, есть Бог на небе вверху, и на земле внизу.

12 И так поклянитесь мне Иеговою, [Богом вашим,] что, как я сделала вам милость, так и вы сделаете милость дому отца моего. Дайте мне верный знак,

14 Они сказали ей: душа наша вместо вас да будет предана смерти! Если вы [ныне] не откроете сего дела нашего, то, когда Господь предаст нам землю, мы окажем тебе милость и благодеяние.

15 Then she let them down3381 by a cord2256 through1157 the window:2474 for3588 her house1004 was upon the town2346 wall,7023 and she1931 dwelt3427 upon the wall.2346

15 И спустила она их по веревке в окно; ибо дом ее был в городской стене, и она жила в стене,

17 Они сказали ей: мы свободны будем от твоей клятвы, которою ты нас закляла, если не сделаешь сего :

18 Вот, когда мы придем в землю, ты веревку из червленых нитей, по которой ты нас спустила, привяжи к окну, а отца твоего и матерь твою и братьев твоих, все семейство отца твоего собери к себе в [свой] дом.

19 And it shall be,1961 that whosoever3605 834 shall go out3318 of the doors4480 1817 of thy house1004 into the street,2351 his blood1818 shall be upon his head,7218 and we587 will be guiltless:5355 and whosoever3605 834 shall be1961 with854 thee in the house,1004 his blood1818 shall be on our head,7218 if518 any hand3027 be1961 upon him.

19 Тогда если кто-нибудь выйдет из дверей твоего дома вон, того кровь на голове его, а мы свободны [будем от сей клятвы твоей]; а кто будет с тобою в [твоем] доме, того кровь на голове нашей, если чья рука коснется его.

20 And if518 thou utter5046 853 this2088 our business,1697 then we will be1961 quit5355 of thine oath4480 7621 which834 thou hast made us to swear.7650

20 Если же [кто нас обидит, или] ты откроешь сие наше дело; то мы также свободны будем от клятвы твоей [сей], которою ты нас закляла.

21 And she said,559 According unto your words,1697 so3651 be it.1931 And she sent them away,7971 and they departed:1980 and she bound7194 853 the scarlet8144 line8615 in the window.2474

21 Она сказала: да будет по словам вашим! И отпустила их, и они пошли, а она привязала к окну червленую веревку.

22 And they went,1980 and came935 unto the mountain,2022 and abode3427 there8033 three7969 days,3117 until5704 the pursuers7291 were returned:7725 and the pursuers7291 sought1245 them throughout all3605 the way,1870 but found4672 them not.3808

22 Они пошли и пришли в гору, и пробыли там три дня, пока не возвратились гнавшиеся за ними . Гнавшиеся искали их по всей дороге, и не нашли.

23 So the two8147 men376 returned,7725 and descended3381 from the mountain,4480 2022 and passed over,5674 and came935 to413 Joshua3091 the son1121 of Nun,5126 and told5608 him853 all3605 things that befell4672 them:

23 Таким образом два сии человека пошли назад, сошли с горы, перешли [Иордан] и пришли к Иисусу, сыну Навину, и пересказали ему все, что с ними случилось.

24 And they said559 unto413 Joshua,3091 Truly3588 the LORD3068 hath delivered5414 into our hands3027 853 all3605 the land;776 for even1571 all3605 the inhabitants3427 of the country776 do faint4127 because of4480 6440 us.

24 И сказали Иисусу: Иегова [Бог наш] предал всю землю сию в руки наши, и все жители земли от нас пришли в робость.
