Chapter 7

1 Is there not3808 an appointed time6635 to man582 upon5921 earth?776 are not his days3117 also like the days3117 of a hireling?7916

2 As a servant5650 earnestly desireth7602 the shadow,6738 and as a hireling7916 looketh for6960 the reward of his work: 6467

3 So3651 am I made to possess5157 months3391 of vanity,7723 and wearisome5999 nights3915 are appointed4487 to me.

4 When518 I lie down,7901 I say,559 When4970 shall I arise,6965 and the night6153 be gone?4059 and I am full7646 of tossings to and fro5076 unto5704 the dawning of the day.5399

5 My flesh1320 is clothed3847 with worms7415 and clods1487 of dust;6083 my skin5785 is broken,7280 and become loathsome.3988

6 My days3117 are swifter7043 than4480 a weaver's shuttle,708 and are spent3615 without657 hope.8615

7 O remember2142 that3588 my life2416 is wind:7307 mine eye5869 shall no3808 more7725 see7200 good.2896

8 The eye5869 of him that hath seen7210 me shall see7789 me no3808 more: thine eyes5869 are upon me, and I am not.369

1 Не тяжкий ли труд уготовлен на земле человеку? Дни его – не дни ли батрака?

2 Как раб, который жаждет вечерней тени, как батрак, который ожидает платы за свой труд,

3 так и я провёл месяцы в суете, и горькие ночи отпущены мне.

4 Ложась, размышляю: «Когда я встану?» – но тянется ночь, и я ворочаюсь до зари.

5 Червями и язвами плоть покрыта, кожа потрескалась и гноится.

6 Бегут мои дни быстрее ткацкого челнока и устремляются к концу без надежды. .

7 Вспомни, о Всевышний, что жизнь моя – лишь дуновение; уже не увидеть счастья моим глазам.

8 Кто видит меня теперь, не увидит вскоре; будешь искать меня, но меня не будет.

9 Как редеет облако и исчезает, так сошедший в мир мёртвых не вернётся.

10 Не возвратится он больше в свой дом, и не вспомнит о нём его земля.

11 Поэтому я не стану молчать, выговорюсь в скорби духа, в муке души пожалуюсь.

12 Разве я море или чудовище морское, что Ты окружил меня стражей?

13 Как подумаю: «Утешит меня постель, печаль мою ложе развеет»,

14 так Ты страшными снами меня пугаешь и ужасаешь видениями.

15 Лучше бы оборвалось моё дыхание и я умер, чем пребывать в этом теле.

16 Я презираю жизнь – всё равно мне не жить вечно. Отступи от меня – мои дни суета.

17 Кто такой человек, что Ты так его возвеличил, что обращаешь на него внимание,

18 что каждое утро посещаешь его и поминутно испытываешь?

19 Неужели не отступишь Ты от меня, не дашь даже сглотнуть слюну?

20 Если я согрешил, что Тебе я сделал, Тебе, о Страж людей?За что Ты поставил меня Своей мишенью? За что я стал Тебе в тягость?

21 Почему не простишь моих проступков и не отпустишь грехов?Скоро, скоро я лягу в землю; будешь искать меня, но меня уже не будет.
