Chapter 18

1 And1161 he spake3004 a2532 parable3850 unto them846 to this end, that men ought1163 always3842 to pray,4336 and2532 not3361 to faint;1573

2 saying,3004 There was2258 in1722 a5100 city4172 a5100 judge,2923 which feared5399 not3361 God,2316 neither2532 3361 regarded1788 man: 444

3 And1161 there was2258 a widow5503 in1722 that1565 city;4172 and2532 she came2064 unto4314 him,846 saying,3004 Avenge1556 me3165 of575 mine3450 adversary.476

4 And2532 he would2309 not3756 for a while: 1909 5550 but1161 afterward3326 5023 he said2036 within1722 himself,1438 Though1499 I fear5399 not3756 God,2316 nor2532 3756 regard1788 man;444

5 Yet1065 because this5026 widow5503 troubleth3930 2873 me,3427 I will avenge1556 her,846 lest3363 by her continual1519 5056 coming2064 she weary5299 me.3165

6 And1161 the3588 Lord2962 said,2036 Hear191 what5101 the3588 unjust93 judge2923 saith.3004

7 And1161 shall not3364 God2316 avenge4160 1557 his own848 elect,1588 which cry994 day2250 and2532 night3571 unto4314 him,846 though2532 he bear long3114 with1909 them?846

8 I tell3004 you5213 that3754 he will avenge4160 1557 them846 speedily.1722 5034 Nevertheless4133 when the3588 Son5207 of man444 cometh,2064 shall687 he find2147 faith4102 on1909 the3588 earth?1093

9 And1161 he spake2036 2532 this5026 parable3850 unto4314 certain5100 which trusted3982 in1909 themselves1438 that3754 they were1526 righteous,1342 and2532 despised1848 others: 3062

10 Two1417 men444 went up305 into1519 the3588 temple2411 to pray;4336 the3588 one1520 a Pharisee,5330 and2532 the3588 other2087 a publican.5057

11 The3588 Pharisee5330 stood2476 and prayed4336 thus5023 with4314 himself,1438 God,2316 I thank2168 thee,4671 that3754 I am1510 not3756 as5618 other3062 men444 are, extortioners,727 unjust,94 adulterers,3432 or2228 even2532 as5613 this3778 publican.5057

12 I fast3522 twice1364 in the3588 week,4521 I give tithes586 of all3956 that3745 I possess.2932

13 And2532 the3588 publican,5057 standing2476 afar off,3113 would2309 not3756 lift up1869 so much as3761 his eyes3788 unto1519 heaven,3772 but235 smote5180 upon1519 his848 breast,4738 saying,3004 God2316 be merciful2433 to me3427 a sinner.268

14 I tell3004 you,5213 this man3778 went down2597 to1519 his848 house3624 justified1344 rather than2228 the other: 1565 for3754 every one3956 that exalteth5312 himself1438 shall be abased;5013 and1161 he that humbleth5013 himself1438 shall be exalted.5312

15 And1161 they brought4374 unto him846 also2532 infants,1025 that2443 he would touch680 them:846 but1161 when his disciples3101 saw1492 it, they rebuked2008 them.846

16 But1161 Jesus2424 called4341 them846 unto him, and said,2036 Suffer863 little children3813 to come2064 unto4314 me,3165 and2532 forbid2967 them846 not: 3361 for1063 of such5108 is2076 the3588 kingdom932 of God.2316

17 Verily281 I say3004 unto you,5213 Whosoever3739 1437 shall not3361 receive1209 the3588 kingdom932 of God2316 as5613 a little child3813 shall in no wise3364 enter1525 therein.1519 846

18 And2532 a certain5100 ruler758 asked1905 him,846 saying,3004 Good18 Master,1320 what5101 shall I do4160 to inherit2816 eternal166 life?2222

19 And1161 Jesus2424 said2036 unto him,846 Why5101 callest3004 thou me3165 good?18 none3762 is good,18 save1508 one,1520 that is, God.2316

20 Thou knowest1492 the3588 commandments,1785 Do not3361 commit adultery,3431 Do not3361 kill,5407 Do not3361 steal,2813 Do not3361 bear false witness,5576 Honor5091 thy4675 father3962 and2532 thy4675 mother.3384

21 And1161 he3588 said,2036 All3956 these5023 have I kept5442 from1537 my3450 youth3503 up.

22 Now1161 when Jesus2424 heard191 these things,5023 he said2036 unto him,846 Yet2089 lackest3007 thou4671 one thing: 1520 sell4453 all3956 that3745 thou hast,2192 and2532 distribute1239 unto the poor,4434 and2532 thou shalt have2192 treasure2344 in1722 heaven: 3772 and2532 come,1204 follow190 me.3427

23 And1161 when he3588 heard191 this,5023 he was1096 very sorrowful:4036 for1063 he was2258 very4970 rich.4145

24 And1161 when Jesus2424 saw1492 that he846 was1096 very sorrowful,4036 he said,2036 How4459 hardly1423 shall they that have2192 riches5536 enter1525 into1519 the3588 kingdom932 of God!2316

25 For1063 it is2076 easier2123 for a camel2574 to go1525 through1223 a needle's4476 eye,5168 than2228 for a rich man4145 to enter1525 into1519 the3588 kingdom932 of God.2316

26 And1161 they that heard191 it said,2036 Who5101 then2532 can1410 be saved?4982

27 And1161 he3588 said,2036 The things which are impossible102 with3844 men444 are2076 possible1415 with3844 God.2316

28 Then1161 Peter4074 said,2036 Lo,2400 we2249 have left863 all,3956 and2532 followed190 thee,4671

29 And1161 he3588 said2036 unto them,846 Verily281 I say3004 unto you,5213 There is2076 no man3762 that3739 hath left863 house,3614 or2228 parents,1118 or2228 brethren,80 or2228 wife,1135 or2228 children,5043 for the kingdom of God's sake,1752 3588 932 2316

30 Who3739 shall not3364 receive618 manifold more4179 in1722 this5129 present time,2540 and2532 in1722 the3588 world165 to come2064 life2222 everlasting.166

31 Then1161 he took3880 unto him the3588 twelve,1427 and said2036 unto4314 them,846 Behold,2400 we go up305 to1519 Jerusalem,2414 and2532 all things3956 that are written1125 by1223 the3588 prophets4396 concerning the3588 Son5207 of man444 shall be accomplished.5055

32 For1063 he shall be delivered3860 unto the3588 Gentiles,1484 and2532 shall be mocked,1702 and2532 spitefully entreated,5195 and2532 spitted on: 1716

33 And2532 they shall scourge3146 him, and put him to death: 615 846 and2532 the3588 third5154 day2250 he shall rise again.450

34 And2532 they846 understood4920 none3762 of these things:5130 and2532 this5124 saying4487 was2258 hid2928 from575 them,846 neither2532 3756 knew1097 they the things which were spoken.3004

35 And1161 it came to pass,1096 that as he846 was come nigh1448 unto1519 Jericho,2410 a certain5100 blind man5185 sat2521 by3844 the3588 way side3598 begging: 4319

36 And1161 hearing191 the multitude3793 pass by,1279 he asked4441 what5101 it5124 meant.1498

37 And1161 they told518 him,846 that3754 Jesus2424 of Nazareth3480 passeth by.3928

38 And2532 he cried,994 saying,3004 Jesus,2424 thou son5207 of David,1138 have mercy1653 on me.3165

39 And2532 they which went before4254 rebuked2008 him,846 that2443 he should hold his peace:4623 but1161 he846 cried2896 so much4183 the more,3123 Thou son5207 of David,1138 have mercy1653 on me.3165

40 And1161 Jesus2424 stood,2476 and commanded2753 him846 to be brought71 unto4314 him:846 and1161 when he846 was come near,1448 he asked1905 him,846

41 saying,3004 What5101 wilt2309 thou that I shall do4160 unto thee?4671 And1161 he3588 said,2036 Lord,2962 that2443 I may receive my sight.308

42 And2532 Jesus2424 said2036 unto him,846 Receive thy sight: 308 thy4675 faith4102 hath saved4982 thee.4571

43 And2532 immediately3916 he received his sight,308 and2532 followed190 him,846 glorifying1392 God:2316 and2532 all3956 the3588 people,2992 when they saw1492 it, gave1325 praise136 unto God.2316

Luke

Chapter 18

1 HE also spake to them a parable, that they should pray always and not get weary.

2 There was a judge in a city, who did not fear God, and had no regard for men.

3 There was a widow in that city, and she used to come to him, saying, Avenge me of my accuser.

4 And he would not for a long time; but afterwards he said within himself, Though I am not afraid of God, and have no regard for men;

5 Yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, so that she may not keep coming and annoy me.

6 Then our Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge said.

7 Would not God avenge his chosen ones much more, who call upon him day and night, though he has patience with them?

8 I say to you, he will avenge them promptly. But when the Son of man comes, will he find faith on the earth?

9 And he said this parable against the men who relied upon themselves that they were righteous, and despised every man.

10 Two men went up to the temple to pray; one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

11 And the Pharisee stood by himself, and prayed thus: O God, I thank thee, that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, grafters, adulterers, and not like this publican.

12 But I fast twice a week, and I give tithes on everything I earn.

13 But the publican stood afar off, and he would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote his breast, saying, O God, be merciful to me, I am a sinner.

14 I say to you, that this man went down to his house more righteous than the Pharisee. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled; and everyone who humbles himself will be exalted.

15 They brought to him also little boys, that he might touch them; and his disciples saw them and rebuked them.

16 But Jesus called them, and said to them, Permit the children to come to me, and do not stop them; for the kingdom of heaven is for those who are like these.

17 Truly I say to you, He who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little boy will never enter into it.

18 A nd one of the leaders asked him and said to him, O good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit life everlasting?

19 Jesus said to him, Why do you call me good? there is no one good, except one, that is God.

20 You know the commandments: You shall not kill; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; Honor your father and your mother.

21 He said to him, All these I have obeyed from my boyhood.

22 When Jesus heard it, he said to him, You lack one thing; go, sell everything you have, and give it to the poor, and you will have a treasure in heaven; and come and follow me.

23 But when he heard these things, he felt sad, because he was very rich.

24 And when Jesus saw that he felt sad, he said, How difficult it is for those who have wealth to enter into the kingdom of God!

25 It is easier for a rope to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

26 Those who heard it said to him, Who then can be saved?

27 But Jesus said, Those things which are impossible to men are possible to God.

28 Simon Peter said to him, Behold we have left everything and followed you.

29 Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you, that there is no man who leaves houses, or parents, or brothers, or wife, or children for the sake of the kingdom of God,

30 Who will not receive many times more at this time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

31 Then Jesus took the twelve and said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things which are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man will be fulfilled.

32 For he will be delivered to the Gentiles, and they will mock him, and spit in his face.

33 And they will scourge him, and curse him, and kill him; and on the third day he will rise again.

34 But they understood not one of these things; and this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know these things which were spoken to them.

35 And when he drew near Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside and begging.

36 And he heard the voice of the people passing, and asked, Who is this?

37 They said to him, Jesus the Nazarene is passing.

38 And he cried and said, O Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me.

39 And those who were going before Jesus rebuked him, to keep quiet; but he cried the more, O son of David, have mercy on me.

40 So Jesus stood still, and commanded to call him to him; and as he came near him he asked him,

41 And said to him, What do you wish me to do for you? He answered and said, My Lord, that I may see.

42 And Jesus said to him, See; your faith has healed you.

43 And he saw immediately, and followed him, and praised God; and all the people who saw it, gave praise to God.

1 And1161 he spake3004 a2532 parable3850 unto them846 to this end, that men ought1163 always3842 to pray,4336 and2532 not3361 to faint;1573

1 HE also spake to them a parable, that they should pray always and not get weary.

2 saying,3004 There was2258 in1722 a5100 city4172 a5100 judge,2923 which feared5399 not3361 God,2316 neither2532 3361 regarded1788 man: 444

2 There was a judge in a city, who did not fear God, and had no regard for men.

3 And1161 there was2258 a widow5503 in1722 that1565 city;4172 and2532 she came2064 unto4314 him,846 saying,3004 Avenge1556 me3165 of575 mine3450 adversary.476

3 There was a widow in that city, and she used to come to him, saying, Avenge me of my accuser.

4 And2532 he would2309 not3756 for a while: 1909 5550 but1161 afterward3326 5023 he said2036 within1722 himself,1438 Though1499 I fear5399 not3756 God,2316 nor2532 3756 regard1788 man;444

4 And he would not for a long time; but afterwards he said within himself, Though I am not afraid of God, and have no regard for men;

5 Yet1065 because this5026 widow5503 troubleth3930 2873 me,3427 I will avenge1556 her,846 lest3363 by her continual1519 5056 coming2064 she weary5299 me.3165

5 Yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, so that she may not keep coming and annoy me.

6 And1161 the3588 Lord2962 said,2036 Hear191 what5101 the3588 unjust93 judge2923 saith.3004

6 Then our Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge said.

7 And1161 shall not3364 God2316 avenge4160 1557 his own848 elect,1588 which cry994 day2250 and2532 night3571 unto4314 him,846 though2532 he bear long3114 with1909 them?846

7 Would not God avenge his chosen ones much more, who call upon him day and night, though he has patience with them?

8 I tell3004 you5213 that3754 he will avenge4160 1557 them846 speedily.1722 5034 Nevertheless4133 when the3588 Son5207 of man444 cometh,2064 shall687 he find2147 faith4102 on1909 the3588 earth?1093

8 I say to you, he will avenge them promptly. But when the Son of man comes, will he find faith on the earth?

9 And1161 he spake2036 2532 this5026 parable3850 unto4314 certain5100 which trusted3982 in1909 themselves1438 that3754 they were1526 righteous,1342 and2532 despised1848 others: 3062

9 And he said this parable against the men who relied upon themselves that they were righteous, and despised every man.

10 Two1417 men444 went up305 into1519 the3588 temple2411 to pray;4336 the3588 one1520 a Pharisee,5330 and2532 the3588 other2087 a publican.5057

10 Two men went up to the temple to pray; one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

11 And the Pharisee stood by himself, and prayed thus: O God, I thank thee, that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, grafters, adulterers, and not like this publican.

12 I fast3522 twice1364 in the3588 week,4521 I give tithes586 of all3956 that3745 I possess.2932

12 But I fast twice a week, and I give tithes on everything I earn.

13 But the publican stood afar off, and he would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote his breast, saying, O God, be merciful to me, I am a sinner.

14 I say to you, that this man went down to his house more righteous than the Pharisee. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled; and everyone who humbles himself will be exalted.

15 And1161 they brought4374 unto him846 also2532 infants,1025 that2443 he would touch680 them:846 but1161 when his disciples3101 saw1492 it, they rebuked2008 them.846

15 They brought to him also little boys, that he might touch them; and his disciples saw them and rebuked them.

16 But Jesus called them, and said to them, Permit the children to come to me, and do not stop them; for the kingdom of heaven is for those who are like these.

17 Verily281 I say3004 unto you,5213 Whosoever3739 1437 shall not3361 receive1209 the3588 kingdom932 of God2316 as5613 a little child3813 shall in no wise3364 enter1525 therein.1519 846

17 Truly I say to you, He who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little boy will never enter into it.

18 And2532 a certain5100 ruler758 asked1905 him,846 saying,3004 Good18 Master,1320 what5101 shall I do4160 to inherit2816 eternal166 life?2222

18 A nd one of the leaders asked him and said to him, O good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit life everlasting?

19 And1161 Jesus2424 said2036 unto him,846 Why5101 callest3004 thou me3165 good?18 none3762 is good,18 save1508 one,1520 that is, God.2316

19 Jesus said to him, Why do you call me good? there is no one good, except one, that is God.

20 You know the commandments: You shall not kill; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; Honor your father and your mother.

21 And1161 he3588 said,2036 All3956 these5023 have I kept5442 from1537 my3450 youth3503 up.

21 He said to him, All these I have obeyed from my boyhood.

22 When Jesus heard it, he said to him, You lack one thing; go, sell everything you have, and give it to the poor, and you will have a treasure in heaven; and come and follow me.

23 And1161 when he3588 heard191 this,5023 he was1096 very sorrowful:4036 for1063 he was2258 very4970 rich.4145

23 But when he heard these things, he felt sad, because he was very rich.

24 And1161 when Jesus2424 saw1492 that he846 was1096 very sorrowful,4036 he said,2036 How4459 hardly1423 shall they that have2192 riches5536 enter1525 into1519 the3588 kingdom932 of God!2316

24 And when Jesus saw that he felt sad, he said, How difficult it is for those who have wealth to enter into the kingdom of God!

25 For1063 it is2076 easier2123 for a camel2574 to go1525 through1223 a needle's4476 eye,5168 than2228 for a rich man4145 to enter1525 into1519 the3588 kingdom932 of God.2316

25 It is easier for a rope to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

26 And1161 they that heard191 it said,2036 Who5101 then2532 can1410 be saved?4982

26 Those who heard it said to him, Who then can be saved?

27 And1161 he3588 said,2036 The things which are impossible102 with3844 men444 are2076 possible1415 with3844 God.2316

27 But Jesus said, Those things which are impossible to men are possible to God.

28 Then1161 Peter4074 said,2036 Lo,2400 we2249 have left863 all,3956 and2532 followed190 thee,4671

28 Simon Peter said to him, Behold we have left everything and followed you.

29 Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you, that there is no man who leaves houses, or parents, or brothers, or wife, or children for the sake of the kingdom of God,

30 Who3739 shall not3364 receive618 manifold more4179 in1722 this5129 present time,2540 and2532 in1722 the3588 world165 to come2064 life2222 everlasting.166

30 Who will not receive many times more at this time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

31 Then Jesus took the twelve and said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things which are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man will be fulfilled.

32 For1063 he shall be delivered3860 unto the3588 Gentiles,1484 and2532 shall be mocked,1702 and2532 spitefully entreated,5195 and2532 spitted on: 1716

32 For he will be delivered to the Gentiles, and they will mock him, and spit in his face.

33 And2532 they shall scourge3146 him, and put him to death: 615 846 and2532 the3588 third5154 day2250 he shall rise again.450

33 And they will scourge him, and curse him, and kill him; and on the third day he will rise again.

34 And2532 they846 understood4920 none3762 of these things:5130 and2532 this5124 saying4487 was2258 hid2928 from575 them,846 neither2532 3756 knew1097 they the things which were spoken.3004

34 But they understood not one of these things; and this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know these things which were spoken to them.

35 And1161 it came to pass,1096 that as he846 was come nigh1448 unto1519 Jericho,2410 a certain5100 blind man5185 sat2521 by3844 the3588 way side3598 begging: 4319

35 And when he drew near Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside and begging.

36 And1161 hearing191 the multitude3793 pass by,1279 he asked4441 what5101 it5124 meant.1498

36 And he heard the voice of the people passing, and asked, Who is this?

37 And1161 they told518 him,846 that3754 Jesus2424 of Nazareth3480 passeth by.3928

37 They said to him, Jesus the Nazarene is passing.

38 And2532 he cried,994 saying,3004 Jesus,2424 thou son5207 of David,1138 have mercy1653 on me.3165

38 And he cried and said, O Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me.

39 And2532 they which went before4254 rebuked2008 him,846 that2443 he should hold his peace:4623 but1161 he846 cried2896 so much4183 the more,3123 Thou son5207 of David,1138 have mercy1653 on me.3165

39 And those who were going before Jesus rebuked him, to keep quiet; but he cried the more, O son of David, have mercy on me.

40 And1161 Jesus2424 stood,2476 and commanded2753 him846 to be brought71 unto4314 him:846 and1161 when he846 was come near,1448 he asked1905 him,846

40 So Jesus stood still, and commanded to call him to him; and as he came near him he asked him,

41 saying,3004 What5101 wilt2309 thou that I shall do4160 unto thee?4671 And1161 he3588 said,2036 Lord,2962 that2443 I may receive my sight.308

41 And said to him, What do you wish me to do for you? He answered and said, My Lord, that I may see.

42 And2532 Jesus2424 said2036 unto him,846 Receive thy sight: 308 thy4675 faith4102 hath saved4982 thee.4571

42 And Jesus said to him, See; your faith has healed you.

43 And2532 immediately3916 he received his sight,308 and2532 followed190 him,846 glorifying1392 God:2316 and2532 all3956 the3588 people,2992 when they saw1492 it, gave1325 praise136 unto God.2316

43 And he saw immediately, and followed him, and praised God; and all the people who saw it, gave praise to God.
