3 Suchet1245 den HErrn3068, alle ihr Elenden6035 im Lande776, die ihr seine Rechte4941 haltet! Suchet1245 Gerechtigkeit6664, suchet1245 Demut6038, auf daß194 ihr am Tage3117 des HErrn3068 Zorns639 möget verborgen5641 werden6466.

4 Denn Gasa muß verlassen5800 werden6131 und Askalon831 wüst8077 werden; Asdod795 soll im Mittag6672 vertrieben1644 werden und Akaron ausgewurzelt werden.

5 Wehe1945 denen, so am2256 Meer3220 hinab wohnen3427, den Kriegern! Des HErrn3068 Wort1697 wird über euch kommen. Du, Kanaan3667, der Philister6430 Land776, ich will, dich3427 umbringen6, daß niemand mehr da wohnen soll.

6 Es sollen am2256 Meer3220 hinab eitel Hirtenhäuser und6629 Schafhürden5116 sein.

7 Und dasselbe2256 soll den übrigen7611 vom Hause1004 Juda3063 zuteil werden, daß sie darauf weiden7462 sollen. Des Abends6153 sollen sie sich in den Häusern1004 Askalons831 lagern7257, wenn sie nun der HErr3068, ihr GOtt430, wiederum7725 heimgesucht6485 und ihr Gefängnis7622 gewendet hat.

8 Ich habe1431 die Schmach2781 Moabs4124 und das Lästern1421 der Kinder1121 Ammon5983 gehöret, damit sie mein Volk5971 geschmähet und auf desselbigen Grenzen1366 sich gerühmet haben8085.

9 Wohlan, so wahr ich lebe2416, spricht5002 der8077 HErr3068 Zebaoth6635, der GOtt430 Israels3478: Moab4124 soll wie Sodom5467 und3499 die Kinder1121 Ammon5983 wie Gomorrha werden, ja, wie ein Nesselstrauch4476 und Salzgrube und eine ewige5769 Wüstnis. Die übrigen7611 meines Volks5971 sollen sie962 rauben und die Überbliebenen meines Volks1471 sollen sie erben5157.

10 Das soll ihnen begegnen für ihre Hoffart1347, daß sie des HErrn3068 Zebaoth6635 Volk5971 geschmähet und sich gerühmet haben2778.

11 Schrecklich3372 wird der HErr3068 über sie sein; denn er wird alle Götter430 auf Erden776 vertilgen7329. Und sollen ihn anbeten7812 alle Inseln339 unter den Heiden1471, ein376 jeglicher an seinem Ort4725.

12 Auch sollt ihr1992 Mohren3569 durch mein Schwert2719 erschlagen2491 werden.

13 Und er wird5186 seine Hand3027 strecken über Mitternacht6828 und Assur804 umbringen6. Ninive5210 wird er öde machen7760, dürr6723 wie eine Wüste8077,

14 daß drinnen sich lagern7257 werden5739 allerlei Tiere2416 unter8432 den Heiden1471; auch Rohrdommeln6893 und Igel7090 werden6168 wohnen3885 auf ihren Türmen und werden in den Fenstern2474 singen6963 und die Raben auf den Balken; denn die Zedernbretter731 sollen abgerissen werden.

15 Das ist657 die fröhliche5947 Stadt5892, die so sicher983 wohnete und8047 sprach559 in ihrem Herzen3824: Ich bin‘s, und keine mehr! Wie ist sie8319 so wüst worden, daß die Tiere2416 drinnen wohnen3427! Und wer vorübergehet, pfeifet sie5128 an und klappet mit der Hand3027 über5674 sie.

Chapter 2

1 GATHER yourselves, bind yourselves together, O people without discipline;

2 Before you become like the chaff which is driven away, before the fierce anger of the LORD comes upon you, before the day of the LORD'S anger reaches you.

3 Seek the LORD, all you meek of the earth, execute justice; seek righteousness and meekness; perhaps you may find refuge in the day of the LORD'S anger.

4 For Gaza shall be deserted and Ashkelon a desolation; they shall carry captive Ashdod's people at the noon day, and Ekron shall be uprooted.

5 Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast and the people of Crete! The word of the LORD is against you, O Canaan, the land of the Philistines; I will even destroy you, that there shall be no inhabitant.

6 And the seacoast shall become pastures for sheep, and Crete a pasture for flocks of sheep.

7 And the seacoast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon; in the houses of Ashkelon they shall lie down in the evening; for the LORD their God shall visit them and bring back their captivity.

8 I have heard the reproach of Moab and the blasphemies of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people and magnified themselves against their border.

9 Therefore as I live, says the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, surely Moab shall become as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, for their plantations have been destroyed and their counsellors lost, and they have become a desolation for ever; the remnant of my people shall plunder them, and the survivors of my people shall possess them.

10 This disaster shall they have for their pride because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts, against Israel;

11 For the LORD has declared to them that he shall destroy all the kings of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the seas.

12 You Ethiopians also, you shall be slain by the sword.

13 And he will stretch out his hand against the north and destroy the Assyrian, and will make Nineveh a desolation and dry like a wilderness.

14 And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all kinds of beasts of the nations; both pelicans and the owls shall lodge in her houses; and wild beasts shall roar in the midst of her, and the sword shall be in her gates; for her foundations are laid bare.

15 This is the mighty city that dwelt in security, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none like me; how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! Everyone that passes by her shall be amazed and hiss, and shake his hand, saying,
