馬太福音

第5章

1 耶穌看見這許多的人，就上了山；他既頓下［when he was set］，他的［his］門徒到他跟前來；

2 他就開口教訓他們，說：

3 靈貧［poor in spirit］的人有福了。因為天國是他們的。

4 哀慟的人有福了。因為他們必得安慰。

5 溫柔的人有福了。因為他們必承受地土。

6 飢渴慕義的人有福了。因為他們必得飽足。

7 憐恤人的人有福了。因為他們必蒙憐恤。

8 心中純淨［pure in heart］的人有福了。因為他們必得見神。

9 使人和睦的人有福了。因為他們必稱為神的兒女［children］。

10 為義受逼迫的人有福了。因為天國是他們的。

11 「人若因我辱罵你們，逼迫你們，捏造各樣壞話毀謗你們，你們就有福了。

12 應當歡喜快樂。因為你們在天上的賞賜是大的。在你們以前的先知，人也是這樣逼迫他們。

13 「你們是世上的鹽；鹽若失了味，怎能叫它再鹹呢？以後無用，不過丟在外面，被人踐踏了。

14 你們是世上的光。城立［set］在山上是不能隱藏的。

15 人點燭［candle］，不放在斗底下，是放在燭臺［candlestick］上，就照亮凡在家裏的人［all that are in the house］。

16 你們的光也當這樣照在人前，叫他們看見你們的好行為，便將榮耀歸給你們在天上的父。

17 「莫想我來要廢掉律法或［or］先知；我來不是要廢掉，乃是要成全。

18 我實在告訴你們，就是到天地都廢去了，律法的一點一畫總［in no wise］不能廢去，直等一切都成全［till all be fulfilled］。

19 所以，無論何人廢掉誡命中最小的一條，又教訓人這樣作，他在天國要稱為最小的；但無論何人遵行這些［them］，又教訓人遵行，他在天國要稱為大的。

20 我告訴你們：『你們的義若不勝於文士和法利賽人的義，斷不能進天國。』

21 「你們聽見古人有話，說［it was said by them of old time］：『你不可［Thou shalt not］殺人』；並且凡殺人的難免受審判。

22 只是我告訴你們：『凡無緣無故［without a cause］向他兄弟［his brother］動怒的，難免受審判；凡罵他兄弟說［say to his brother］：拉加［Raca］，難免公會的審斷；但是凡罵人說［but whosoever shall say］：你是愚昧的［Thou fool］，難免地獄的火。』

23 所以，你在祭壇上獻禮物的時候，若想起你兄弟［thy brother］向你懷怨；

24 就把你的［thy］禮物留在壇前，先去同你兄弟［thy brother］和好，然後來獻禮物。

25 你同告你的對頭還在路上，就趕緊與他和息；恐怕在甚麼時候［at any time］，對頭［adversary］把你送給審判官，審判官把你［thee］交付差役［officer］，你就下在監裏了。

26 我實在告訴你：『若有一文錢沒有還清，你斷不能從那裏出來。』

27 「你們聽見古人［by them of old time］有話說：『你不可［Thou shalt not］姦淫；』

28 只是我告訴你們：『凡看見婦女就動淫念的，這人心裏已經與她犯姦淫了。

29 若是你的右眼叫你犯罪［offend］，就剜出來丟掉；寧可失去百體中的一體，不叫全身丟在地獄裏。

30 若是你的［thy］右手叫你犯罪［offend］，就砍下來丟掉；寧可失去百體中的一體，不叫全身丟在地獄裏［should be cast into hell］。』

31 「曾有話說［It hath been said］：『人若休妻，就當給她休書；』

32 只是我告訴你們：『凡休妻的，若不是為淫亂的緣故，就是叫她犯姦淫［commit adultery］了；凡要［whosoever shall］娶這被休婦人的，也是犯姦淫了。』

33 「你們又聽見古人曾有話，說［it hath been said by them of old time］：『你不可［Thou shalt not］背誓，所起的誓總要向主謹守。』

34 只是我告訴你們：『甚麼誓都不可起；不可指著天起誓；因為天是神的座位。

35 不可指著地起誓；因為地是他的腳凳。也不可指著耶路撒冷起誓；因為耶路撒冷是大君的京城。

36 你［thou］又不可指著你的頭起誓，因為你不能使一根頭髮變白［white］變黑［black］。

37 你們的話，是，就說是；不是，就說不是；若再多說，就是從惡裏出來的［cometh of evil］。』

38 「你們曾［have］聽見有話說：『以眼還眼，以牙還牙；』

39 只是我告訴你們：『你們［ye］不要與惡人作對；有人要［shall］打你的右臉，連左臉也轉過來由他打。

40 有人想要告你，要拿你的裏衣，連外衣也由他拿去。

41 有人強逼你走一里路，你就同他走二里。

42 有求你的，就給他；有向你借貸的，你不可轉身而去［turn not thou away］。』

43 「你們曾［have］聽見有話說：『你［Thou］當愛你的鄰居，恨你的仇敵。』

44 只是我告訴你們：『要愛你們的仇敵，咒詛你們的，要為他們祝福［bless them that curse you］，恨你們的，要待他們好［do good to them that hate you］，凌辱你們［despitefully use you］、逼迫你們的，要為他們［for them］禱告；

45 這樣就可以作你們在天上之父［Father which is in heaven］的兒女［children］。』因為他叫日頭照歹人［evil］，也照好人［good］；降雨給義人，也給不義的人。

46 你們若單愛那些［them which］愛你們的人，有甚麼賞賜呢？就是稅吏不也是這樣行嗎？

47 你們若單請你們［your］弟兄的安，比人有甚麼長處呢？就是稅吏［publicans］不也是這樣行麼？

48 所以，你們要完全，像你們在天上的父［Father which is in heaven］完全一樣。

Matthew

Chapter 5

1 WHEN Jesus saw the crowds, he went up to the mountain; and as he sat down, his disciples drew near to him.

2 And he opened his mouth and taught them, and he said,

3 Blessed are the poor in pride, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they shall be well satisfied.

7 Blessed are the merciful, for to them shall be mercy.

8 Blessed are those who are pure in their hearts, for they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for the sake of justice, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are you, when they reproach you and persecute you, and speak against you every kind of bad word, falsely, for my sake,

12 Then be glad and rejoice, for your reward is increased in heaven; for in this very manner they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

13 You are indeed the salt of the earth; but if the salt should lose its savor, with what could it be salted? It would not be worth anything, but to be thrown outside and to be trodden down by men.

14 You are indeed the light of the world; a city that is built upon a mountain cannot be hidden.

15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp holder, so it gives light to all who are in the house.

16 Let your light thus shine before men, so that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

17 Do not expect that I have come to weaken the law or the prophets; I have not come to weaken, but to fulfil.

18 For truly I tell you, Until heaven and earth pass away, not even one yoth * or a dash shall pass away from the law until all of it is fulfilled.

19 Whoever therefore tries to weaken even one of these smallest commandments, and teaches men so, he shall be regarded as small in the kingdom of heaven; but anyone who observes and teaches them, he shall be regarded as great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven.

21 You have heard that it was said to those who were before you, You shall not kill, and whoever kills is guilty before the court.

22 But I say to you, that whoever becomes angry with his brother for no reason, is guilty before the court: and whoever should say to his brother, Raca (which means, I spit on you) is guilty before the congregation; and whoever says to his brother, you are a nurse maid, is condemned to hell fire.

23 If it should happen therefore that while you are presenting your offering upon the altar, and right there you remember that your brother has any grievance against you,

24 Leave your offering there upon the altar, and first go and make peace with your brother, and then come back and present your offering.

25 Try to get reconciled with your accuser promptly, while you are going on the road with him; for your accuser might surrender you to the judge, and the judge would commit you to the jailer, and you will be cast into prison.

26 Truly I say to you, that you would never come out thence until you had paid the last cent.

27 You have heard that it is said, You shall not commit adultery.

28 But I say to you, that whoever looks at a woman with the desire to covet her, has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

29 If your right eye should cause you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you; for it is better for you to lose one of your members, and not all your body fall into hell.

30 And if your right hand should cause you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away from you; for it is better for you to lose one of your members, and not all your body fall into hell.

31 It has been said that whoever divorces his wife, must give her the divorce papers.

32 But I say to you, that whoever divorces his wife, except for fornication, causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is separated but not divorced, commits adultery.

33 Again you have heard it was said to them who were before you, that you shall not lie in your oaths, but entrust your oaths to the Lord.

34 But I say to you, never swear; neither by heaven, because it is God's throne;

35 Nor by the earth, for it is a stool under his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of a great king.

36 Neither shall you swear by your own head, because you cannot create in it a single black or white hair.

37 But let your words be yes, yes, and no, no; for anything which adds to these is a deception.

38 You have heard that it is said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.

39 But I say to you, that you should not resist evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40 And if anyone wishes to sue you at the court and take away your shirt, let him have your robe also.

41 Whoever compels you to carry a burden for a mile, go with him two.

42 Whoever asks from you, give him; and whoever wishes to borrow from you, do not refuse him.

43 You have heard that it is said, Be kind to your friend, and hate your enemy.

44 But I say to you, Love your enemies, and bless anyone who curses you, and do good to anyone who hates you, and pray for them who carry you away by force and persecute you,

45 So that you may become sons of your Father who is in heaven, who causes his sun to shine upon the good and upon the bad, and who pours down his rain upon the just and upon the unjust.

46 For if you love only those who love you, what reward will you have? Do not even the publicans do the same thing?

47 And if you salute only your brothers, what is it more that you do? Do not even the publicans do the same thing?

48 Therefore, you become perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

3 Blessed are the poor in pride, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are you, when they reproach you and persecute you, and speak against you every kind of bad word, falsely, for my sake,

12 Then be glad and rejoice, for your reward is increased in heaven; for in this very manner they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

19 Whoever therefore tries to weaken even one of these smallest commandments, and teaches men so, he shall be regarded as small in the kingdom of heaven; but anyone who observes and teaches them, he shall be regarded as great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 我告訴你們：『你們的義若不勝於文士和法利賽人的義，斷不能進天國。』

20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven.

22 But I say to you, that whoever becomes angry with his brother for no reason, is guilty before the court: and whoever should say to his brother, Raca (which means, I spit on you) is guilty before the congregation; and whoever says to his brother, you are a nurse maid, is condemned to hell fire.

23 所以，你在祭壇上獻禮物的時候，若想起你兄弟［thy brother］向你懷怨；

23 If it should happen therefore that while you are presenting your offering upon the altar, and right there you remember that your brother has any grievance against you,

24 Leave your offering there upon the altar, and first go and make peace with your brother, and then come back and present your offering.

38 You have heard that it is said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.

44 But I say to you, Love your enemies, and bless anyone who curses you, and do good to anyone who hates you, and pray for them who carry you away by force and persecute you,

45 這樣就可以作你們在天上之父［Father which is in heaven］的兒女［children］。』因為他叫日頭照歹人［evil］，也照好人［good］；降雨給義人，也給不義的人。

45 So that you may become sons of your Father who is in heaven, who causes his sun to shine upon the good and upon the bad, and who pours down his rain upon the just and upon the unjust.
