箴言

第13章

1 智慧子聽父親的教訓；但［but］褻慢人不聽責備。

2 人因口所結的果子，必吃美物［eat good］；唯［but］犯法的［transgressors］必吃［eat］強暴。

3 謹守口的，得保生命；大張嘴的，卻［but］必［shall］敗亡。

4 懶惰人切慕［desireth］，而［and］無所得；殷勤人卻［but］必得豐裕。

5 義人恨惡謊言；唯［but］惡人有臭名，且致慚愧。

6 行為正直的，有公義保守；犯罪的，卻［but］被邪惡傾覆。

7 有使自己［There is that maketh himself］富足的，卻一無所有；有使自己［there is that maketh himself］窮乏的，卻廣有財物。

8 人的資財是他生命的贖價；窮乏人卻不聽責備［heareth not rebuke］。

9 義人的光歡喜［rejoiceth］；但［but］惡人的燈必［shall］熄滅。

10 只因驕傲，便啟爭競［Only by pride cometh contention］；聽勸言的，卻有智慧。

11 不勞而得之財必然消耗；唯［but］勤勞積蓄的，必見加增。

12 所盼望的遲延未得，令人心憂；所願意的臨到，卻是生命樹。

13 藐視訓言的，必致［shall be］滅亡；唯［but］敬畏誡命的，必得善報。

14 智慧人的法則［law］是生命的泉源，可以使人離開死亡的網羅。

15 美好的聰明使人蒙恩；犯法之人［transgressors］的道路卻［but］是難行［is hard］。

16 凡通達人都憑知識處事［dealeth］；但［but］愚昧人張揚自己的愚昧。

17 奸惡的使者必遭害［falleth into mischief］；忠信的使臣乃醫人的良藥。

18 不受訓誨［refuseth instruction］的，必致貧受辱；領受責備的，卻［but］必得尊榮。

19 所願［desire］的成就，心覺甘甜；但［but］遠離惡事，為愚昧人所憎惡。

20 與智慧人同行的，必得智慧；和愚昧人作伴的，卻［but］必滅亡［shall be destroyed］。

21 禍患追趕罪人；唯［but］義人必得善報。

22 善人給子孫遺留產業；罪人為義人積存資財。

23 窮人耕種多得糧食；但因無公義［want of judgment］，有消滅的。

24 不忍用杖打兒子的，是恨惡他；唯［but］疼愛兒子的，趁早［betimes］管教。

25 義人吃得飽足；唯［but］惡人肚腹缺糧。
