以賽亞書

第36章

1 希西家王十四年，亞述王西拿基立上來攻擊猶大的一切堅固城，將城攻取。

2 亞述王從拉吉差遣拉伯沙基率領大軍往耶路撒冷，到希西家王那裏去。他就站在上池的水溝旁，在漂布地的大路上。

3 於是希勒家的兒子家宰以利雅敬，並書記舍伯那和亞薩的兒子史官約亞，出來見拉伯沙基。

4 拉伯沙基對他們說：「你們去告訴希西家說，亞述大王如此說：『你所倚靠的有甚麼可仗賴的呢？

5 我說，你說（我看不過是虛話）：我有打仗的計謀和能力［I say, sayest thou, (but they are but vain words) I have counsel and strength for war］。你如今［now］到底倚靠誰才背叛我呢？

6 看哪，你倚靠［thou trustest］埃及這破敗［this broken］的葦杖；人若靠這杖，就必刺透他的手。埃及王法老向一切倚靠他的人也是這樣。

7 你若對我說：我們倚靠耶和華─我們的神；希西家豈不是將眾高邱［high places］和祭壇廢去，且對猶大和耶路撒冷的人說：你們當在這壇前敬拜嗎？

8 所以［therefore］，現在你不如［pray thee］把抵押給我主亞述王，我給你二千匹馬，看你這一面騎馬的人夠不夠。

9 若不然，你［thou］豈會［How then wilt］使我主臣僕中最小的軍長轉面退去［turn away the face of］呢？你竟倚靠埃及的戰車馬兵嗎？

10 現在我上來攻擊毀滅這地，豈沒有耶和華的意思嗎？耶和華對［said unto］我說：你上去攻擊毀滅這地。』」

11 以利雅敬、舍伯那、約亞對拉伯沙基說：「求你用敘利亞言語和僕人說話，因為我們懂得；不要用猶太言語和我們說話，達到城上百姓的耳中。」

12 拉伯沙基說：「我主差遣我來，豈是單對你和你的主說這些話嗎？他［he］不也是差遣我［snet me］對這些坐在城上、好［that they may］與你們一同吃自己糞喝自己尿的人說嗎？」

13 於是，拉伯沙基站著，用猶太言語大聲喊著說：「你們當聽亞述大王的話。

14 王如此說：『你們不要被希西家欺哄了；因他不能拯救你們。

15 也不要聽希西家使你們倚靠耶和華說：耶和華必要拯救我們，這城必不交在亞述王的手中。

16 不要聽希西家的話。因亞述王如此說：你們要送禮物來，與我立約［Make an agreement with me by a present］，出來投降我。各人就可以吃自己葡萄樹和無花果樹的果子，喝自己井裏的水；

17 等我來領你們到一地［land］，與你們本地一樣，就是有五穀和新酒之地，有糧食和葡萄園之地。

18 你們要謹防，恐怕希西家勸導你們說：耶和華必拯救我們。列國的眾神有哪一個救他本國脫離亞述王的手呢？

19 哈馬和亞珥拔的眾神在哪裏呢？西法瓦音的眾神在哪裏呢？他們曾救撒瑪利亞脫離我的手嗎？

20 這些國的眾神有誰曾救自己的地［land］脫離我的手呢？難道耶和華能救耶路撒冷脫離我的手嗎？』」

21 百姓卻［But］靜默不言，並不回答他［him］一句；因為王曾吩咐說：「不要回答他。」

22 當下希勒家的兒子家宰以利雅敬和書記舍伯那，並亞薩的兒子史官約亞，都撕裂衣服，來到希西家那裏，將拉伯沙基的話告訴了他。

Chapter 36

1 Now it came1961 to pass in the fourteenth702 6240 year8141 of king4428 Hezekiah,2396 that Sennacherib5576 king4428 of Assyria804 came5927 up against5921 all3605 the defended1219 cities5892 of Judah,3063 and took8610 them.

2 And the king4428 of Assyria804 sent7971 Rabshakeh7262 from Lachish3923 to Jerusalem3389 to king4428 Hezekiah2396 with a great3515 army.2426 And he stood5975 by the conduit8585 of the upper5945 pool1295 in the highway4546 of the fuller's3526 field.7704

3 Then came3318 forth3318 to him Eliakim,471 Hilkiah's2518 son,1121 which834 was over5921 the house,1004 and Shebna7644 the scribe,5608 and Joah,3098 Asaph's623 son,1121 the recorder.2142

4 And Rabshakeh7262 said559 to them, Say559 you now4994 to Hezekiah,2396 Thus3541 said559 the great1419 king,4428 the king4428 of Assyria,804 What4100 confidence986 is this2088 wherein834 you trust?982

5 I say,559 say you, (but they are but vain8193 words)1697 I have counsel6098 and strength1369 for war:4421 now6258 on5921 whom4310 do you trust,982 that you rebel4775 against me?

6 See,2009 you trust982 in the staff4938 of this2088 broken7533 reed,7070 on5921 Egypt;4714 where on834 5921 if a man376 lean,5564 it will go935 into his hand,3709 and pierce5344 it: so3651 is Pharaoh6547 king4428 of Egypt4714 to all3605 that trust982 in him.

7 But if you say559 to me, We trust982 in the LORD3068 our God:430 is it not he, whose834 853 high1116 places and whose853 altars4196 Hezekiah2396 has taken5493 away,5493 and said559 to Judah3063 and to Jerusalem,3389 You shall worship7812 before6440 this2088 altar?4196

8 Now6258 therefore give pledges,6148 I pray4994 you, to my master113 the king4428 of Assyria,804 and I will give5414 you two thousand505 horses,5483 if518 you be able3201 on your part to set5414 riders7392 on them.

9 How349 then will you turn7725 away the face6440 of one259 captain6346 of the least6996 of my master's113 servants,5650 and put your trust982 on5921 Egypt4714 for chariots7393 and for horsemen?6571

10 And am I now6258 come5927 up without1107 the LORD3068 against5921 this2063 land776 to destroy7843 it? the LORD3068 said559 to me, Go5927 up against413 this2063 land,776 and destroy7843 it.

11 Then said559 Eliakim471 and Shebna7644 and Joah3098 to Rabshakeh,7262 Speak,1696 I pray4994 you, to your servants5650 in the Syrian762 language; for we understand8085 it: and speak1696 not to us in the Jews'3064 language, in the ears241 of the people5971 that are on5921 the wall.2346

12 But Rabshakeh7262 said,559 Has my master113 sent7971 me to your master113 and to you to speak1696 these428 words?1697 has he not sent me to the men582 that sit3427 on the wall,2346 that they may eat398 their own dung,2716 and drink8354 their own urine7890 with you?

13 Then Rabshakeh7262 stood,5975 and cried7121 with a loud1419 voice6963 in the Jews'3064 language, and said,559 Hear8085 you the words1697 of the great1419 king,4428 the king4428 of Assyria.804

14 Thus3541 said559 the king,4428 Let not Hezekiah2396 deceive5377 you: for he shall not be able3201 to deliver5337 you.

15 Neither408 let Hezekiah2396 make you trust982 in the LORD,3068 saying,559 The LORD3068 will surely deliver5337 us: this2063 city5892 shall not be delivered5414 into the hand3027 of the king4428 of Assyria.804

16 Listen8085 not to Hezekiah:2396 for thus3541 said559 the king4428 of Assyria,804 Make6213 an agreement with me by a present,1293 and come3318 out to me: and eat398 you every376 one376 of his vine,1612 and every376 one376 of his fig8384 tree, and drink8354 you every376 one376 the waters4325 of his own cistern;953

17 Until5704 I come935 and take3947 you away to a land776 like your own land,776 a land776 of corn1715 and wine,8492 a land776 of bread3899 and vineyards.3754

18 Beware lest6435 Hezekiah2396 persuade5496 you, saying,559 the LORD3068 will deliver5337 us. Has any376 of the gods430 of the nations1471 delivered5337 his land776 out of the hand3027 of the king4428 of Assyria?804

19 Where346 are the gods430 of Hamath2574 and Arphad?774 where346 are the gods430 of Sepharvaim?5617 and have they delivered5337 Samaria8111 out of my hand?3027

20 Who4310 are they among all3605 the gods430 of these428 lands,776 that have delivered5337 their land776 out of my hand,3027 that the LORD3068 should deliver5337 Jerusalem3389 out of my hand?3027

21 But they held2790 their peace,2790 and answered6030 him not a word:1697 for the king's4428 commandment4687 was, saying,559 Answer6030 him not.

22 Then came935 Eliakim,471 the son1121 of Hilkiah,2518 that was over5921 the household,1004 and Shebna7644 the scribe,5608 and Joah,3098 the son1121 of Asaph,623 the recorder,2142 to Hezekiah2396 with their clothes899 rent,7167 and told5046 him the words1697 of Rabshakeh.7262

7 你若對我說：我們倚靠耶和華─我們的神；希西家豈不是將眾高邱［high places］和祭壇廢去，且對猶大和耶路撒冷的人說：你們當在這壇前敬拜嗎？

7 But if you say559 to me, We trust982 in the LORD3068 our God:430 is it not he, whose834 853 high1116 places and whose853 altars4196 Hezekiah2396 has taken5493 away,5493 and said559 to Judah3063 and to Jerusalem,3389 You shall worship7812 before6440 this2088 altar?4196

8 所以［therefore］，現在你不如［pray thee］把抵押給我主亞述王，我給你二千匹馬，看你這一面騎馬的人夠不夠。

8 Now6258 therefore give pledges,6148 I pray4994 you, to my master113 the king4428 of Assyria,804 and I will give5414 you two thousand505 horses,5483 if518 you be able3201 on your part to set5414 riders7392 on them.

9 若不然，你［thou］豈會［How then wilt］使我主臣僕中最小的軍長轉面退去［turn away the face of］呢？你竟倚靠埃及的戰車馬兵嗎？

9 How349 then will you turn7725 away the face6440 of one259 captain6346 of the least6996 of my master's113 servants,5650 and put your trust982 on5921 Egypt4714 for chariots7393 and for horsemen?6571

10 現在我上來攻擊毀滅這地，豈沒有耶和華的意思嗎？耶和華對［said unto］我說：你上去攻擊毀滅這地。』」

10 And am I now6258 come5927 up without1107 the LORD3068 against5921 this2063 land776 to destroy7843 it? the LORD3068 said559 to me, Go5927 up against413 this2063 land,776 and destroy7843 it.

11 以利雅敬、舍伯那、約亞對拉伯沙基說：「求你用敘利亞言語和僕人說話，因為我們懂得；不要用猶太言語和我們說話，達到城上百姓的耳中。」

11 Then said559 Eliakim471 and Shebna7644 and Joah3098 to Rabshakeh,7262 Speak,1696 I pray4994 you, to your servants5650 in the Syrian762 language; for we understand8085 it: and speak1696 not to us in the Jews'3064 language, in the ears241 of the people5971 that are on5921 the wall.2346

12 拉伯沙基說：「我主差遣我來，豈是單對你和你的主說這些話嗎？他［he］不也是差遣我［snet me］對這些坐在城上、好［that they may］與你們一同吃自己糞喝自己尿的人說嗎？」

14 王如此說：『你們不要被希西家欺哄了；因他不能拯救你們。

14 Thus3541 said559 the king,4428 Let not Hezekiah2396 deceive5377 you: for he shall not be able3201 to deliver5337 you.

15 也不要聽希西家使你們倚靠耶和華說：耶和華必要拯救我們，這城必不交在亞述王的手中。

15 Neither408 let Hezekiah2396 make you trust982 in the LORD,3068 saying,559 The LORD3068 will surely deliver5337 us: this2063 city5892 shall not be delivered5414 into the hand3027 of the king4428 of Assyria.804

16 不要聽希西家的話。因亞述王如此說：你們要送禮物來，與我立約［Make an agreement with me by a present］，出來投降我。各人就可以吃自己葡萄樹和無花果樹的果子，喝自己井裏的水；
