Chapter 41

1 AND it came to pass, two years later, Pharaoh dreamed; and he was standing by the river.

2 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven beautiful and fat cows; and they fed in a meadow.

3 And, behold, seven other cows came up after them out of the river, ill-favored and lean; and stood beside the other cows on the bank of the river.

4 And the ill-favored and lean cows ate up the seven beautiful and fat cows. So Pharaoh awoke.

5 And he slept and dreamed a second time; and, behold, seven ears of grain were growing on a single stalk, rank and good.

6 And, behold, seven thin ears blasted by the east wind, sprang up after them.

7 And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream.

8 And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; so he sent and called for all the magicians and all the wise men of Egypt; and Pharaoh told them his dreams; but there was no man who could interpret them to Pharaoh.

9 Then the chief butler spoke in the presence of Pharaoh, and said, I will mention my offense today;

10 Pharaoh was angry with his servants, and put me in the prison in the commander of the guard's house, both me and the chief baker;

11 And we dreamed dreams in the same night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.

12 And there was with us a young man, a Hebrew, a servant of the commander of the guard; and we told him our dreams, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret.

13 And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; I was restored to my position, and he was crucified.

14 Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon; and he shaved himself, and changed his clothes, and came in before Pharaoh.

15 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it; and I have heard concerning you, that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.

16 And Joseph answered and said to Pharaoh, Do you think, perhaps, that without God I am able to give Pharaoh an answer that everything will be well?

17 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, In my dream I was standing on the bank of the river;

18 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven fat and beautiful cows; and they fed in a meadow;

19 And, behold, seven other cows came up after them, poor and ill-favored and lean. I had never seen such ill-favored cows in all the land of Egypt.

20 And the lean and ill-favored cows ate up the first seven fat cows;

21 And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them: for they were still ill-favored, as at the beginning. Then I awoke.

22 And again, I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears of grain growing on one stalk, full and good;

23 And, behold, seven other ears, thin and blasted by the east wind, sprang up after them;

24 And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears; and I told this to the magicians; but there was no one who could interpret these dreams to me.

25 And Joseph said to Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one; God has shown Pharaoh what he is about to do.

26 The seven good cows are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years; the dream is one.

27 And the seven lean and ill-favored cows that came up after them are seven years; and the seven thin ears blasted by the east wind shall be seven years of famine.

28 It is the thing which I told Pharaoh; what God is about to do he has shown to Pharaoh.

29 Behold. there are coming seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt;

30 And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;

31 And the plenty shall not be remembered in the land because of the famine which shall follow; for it shall be very severe.

32 And as for that the dream was repeated to Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is already prepared by God, and God will hasten to bring it to pass.

33 Now therefore let Pharaoh find a discreet and wise man, and appoint him an overseer over the land of Egypt.

34 Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land of Egypt to take the fifth part of the produce of the land of Egypt during the seven plenteous years.

35 And let them gather all the wheat of these good years that are coming, and store up the grain under the authority of Pharaoh, and let them keep the grain in the towns.

36 And let the grain be kept for the land against the seven years of famine which shall come in the land of Egypt; so that the land may not perish through the famine.

37 And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.

38 And Pharaoh said to his servants, Can we find such a man as this, in whom the Spirit of God is?

39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph. Forasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is none so wise and discreet as you are:

40 You shall be over my household, and according to your word shall all my people be ruled; only on the throne will I be greater than you.

41 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, See, I have made you governor over all the land of Egypt.

42 Then Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it on Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in robes of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck:

43 And he made him to ride in another chariot which belonged to him; and they cried before him, Father and governor! Thus he made him governor over all the land of Egypt.

44 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, I Pharaoh have commanded that without your orders no man shall undertake anything in all the land of Egypt.

45 Then Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnath-paaneah (because the hidden things were revealed to him); and he gave him to wife Asiath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Joseph went throughout all the land of Egypt.

46 And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.

47 And in the seven plenteous years the land brought forth abundantly.

48 And he gathered up all the grain of the seven plenteous years which were in the land of Egypt, and stored up the grain in towns; the grain of the fields which was round about every town he stored in the same.

49 And Joseph stored up grain as the sand of the sea, very much, until he was tired of numbering it; for it was without number.

50 And to Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, whom Asiath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bore to him.

51 And Joseph called the name of his first-born Manasseh; For God, said he, has made me forget all my troubles, and all my father's house.

52 And the name of the second he called Ephraim; For God has made me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.

53 And the seven years of plenty that were in the land of Egypt came to an end.

54 And the seven years of famine began to come, according as Joseph had said; and there was famine in all lands; and in all the land of Egypt there was no bread.

55 And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people complained against Pharaoh because of the lack of bread; and Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, Go to Joseph; and what he says to you, do.

56 And the famine was over all the face of the land, and Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold to the Egyptians;

57 And the famine was severe in the land of Egypt. And the people from all lands came to Egypt to Joseph to buy grain; because the famine was severe in all lands.

25 И сказал559 Иосиф3130 фараону:6547 сон2472 фараонов6547 один:259 что Бог430 сделает,6213 то Он возвестил5046 фараону.6547

25 And Joseph said to Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one; God has shown Pharaoh what he is about to do.

26 Семь7651 коров6510 хороших,2896 это семь7651 лет;8141 и семь7651 колосьев7641 хороших,2896 это семь7651 лет:8141 сон2472 один;259

26 The seven good cows are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years; the dream is one.

27 и семь7651 коров6510 тощих7534 и худых,7451 вышедших5927 после310 тех, это семь7651 лет,8141 также и семь7651 колосьев7641 тощих7386 и иссушенных7710 восточным6921 ветром,6921 это семь7651 лет8141 голода.7458

27 And the seven lean and ill-favored cows that came up after them are seven years; and the seven thin ears blasted by the east wind shall be seven years of famine.

28 Вот почему1697 сказал1696 я фараону:6547 что Бог430 сделает,6213 то Он показал7200 фараону.6547

28 It is the thing which I told Pharaoh; what God is about to do he has shown to Pharaoh.

29 Вот, наступает935 семь7651 лет8141 великого1419 изобилия7647 во всей земле776 Египетской;4714

29 Behold. there are coming seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt;

30 после310 них настанут6965 семь7651 лет8141 голода,7458 и забудется7911 все то изобилие7647 в земле776 Египетской,4714 и истощит3615 голод7458 землю,776

30 And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;

31 и неприметно3045 будет3045 прежнее изобилие7647 на земле,776 по причине голода,7458 который последует,3103651 ибо он будет очень3966 тяжел.3515

31 And the plenty shall not be remembered in the land because of the famine which shall follow; for it shall be very severe.

32 А что сон2472 повторился8138 фараону6547 дважды,6471 это значит, что сие1697 истинно35595973 слово Божие,430 и что вскоре4116 Бог430 исполнит6213 сие.

32 And as for that the dream was repeated to Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is already prepared by God, and God will hasten to bring it to pass.

33 И ныне да усмотрит7200 фараон6547 мужа376 разумного995 и мудрого2450 и да поставит7896 его над землею776 Египетскою.4714

33 Now therefore let Pharaoh find a discreet and wise man, and appoint him an overseer over the land of Egypt.

34 Да повелит6213 фараон6547 поставить6485 над землею776 надзирателей6496 и собирать2567 в семь7651 лет8141 изобилия7647 пятую2567 часть2567 с земли776 Египетской;4714

34 Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land of Egypt to take the fifth part of the produce of the land of Egypt during the seven plenteous years.

35 пусть6908 они берут6908 всякий хлеб400 этих наступающих935 хороших2896 годов8141 и соберут6651 в городах5892 хлеб1250 под ведение3027 фараона6547 в пищу,400 и пусть8104 берегут;8104

35 And let them gather all the wheat of these good years that are coming, and store up the grain under the authority of Pharaoh, and let them keep the grain in the towns.

36 и будет сия пища400 в запас6487 для земли776 на семь7651 лет8141 голода,7458 которые будут в земле776 Египетской,4714 дабы земля776 не погибла3772 от голода.7458

36 And let the grain be kept for the land against the seven years of famine which shall come in the land of Egypt; so that the land may not perish through the famine.

37 Сие1697 понравилось31905869 фараону6547 и всем слугам58695650 его.

37 And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.

38 И сказал559 фараон6547 слугам5650 своим: найдем4672 ли мы такого, как он,2088 человека,376 в котором834 был бы Дух7307 Божий?430

38 And Pharaoh said to his servants, Can we find such a man as this, in whom the Spirit of God is?

39 И сказал559 фараон6547 Иосифу:3130 так как310 Бог430 открыл3045 тебе все сие, то нет столь разумного995 и мудрого,2450 как ты;

39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph. Forasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is none so wise and discreet as you are:

40 ты будешь1961 над домом1004 моим, и твоего слова6310 держаться5401 будет5401 весь народ5971 мой; только престолом3678 я буду1431 больше1431 тебя.

40 You shall be over my household, and according to your word shall all my people be ruled; only on the throne will I be greater than you.

41 И сказал559 фараон6547 Иосифу:3130 вот,7200 я поставляю5414 тебя над всею землею776 Египетскою.4714

41 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, See, I have made you governor over all the land of Egypt.

42 И снял5493 фараон6547 перстень2885 свой с руки3027 своей и надел5414 его на руку3027 Иосифа;3130 одел3847 его в виссонные8336 одежды,899 возложил7760 золотую2091 цепь7242 на шею6677 ему;

42 Then Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it on Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in robes of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck:

43 велел везти7392 его на второй4932 из своих колесниц4818 и провозглашать7121 пред3942 ним: преклоняйтесь!86 И поставил5414 его над всею землею776 Египетскою.4714

43 And he made him to ride in another chariot which belonged to him; and they cried before him, Father and governor! Thus he made him governor over all the land of Egypt.

44 И сказал559 фараон6547 Иосифу:3130 я фараон;6547 без1107 тебя никто376 не двинет7311 ни руки3027 своей, ни ноги7272 своей во всей земле776 Египетской.4714

44 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, I Pharaoh have commanded that without your orders no man shall undertake anything in all the land of Egypt.

45 И нарек7121 фараон6547 Иосифу3130 имя:8034 Цафнаф-панеах,6847 и дал5414 ему в жену802 Асенефу,621 дочь1323 Потифера,6319 жреца3548 Илиопольского.204 И пошел3318 Иосиф3130 по земле776 Египетской.4714

45 Then Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnath-paaneah (because the hidden things were revealed to him); and he gave him to wife Asiath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Joseph went throughout all the land of Egypt.

46 Иосифу3130 было тридцать7970 лет8141 от рождения,1121 когда он предстал5975 пред лице3942 фараона,6547 царя4428 Египетского.4714 И вышел3318 Иосиф3130 от лица6440 фараонова6547 и прошел5674 по всей земле776 Египетской.4714

46 And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.

47 Земля776 же в семь7651 лет8141 изобилия7647 приносила6213 из зерна по горсти.7062

47 And in the seven plenteous years the land brought forth abundantly.

48 И собрал6908 он всякий хлеб400 семи7651 лет,8141 которые были плодородны в земле776 Египетской,4714 и положил5414 хлеб400 в8432 городах;5892 в каждом городе5892 положил5414 хлеб400 полей,7704 окружающих5439 его.

48 And he gathered up all the grain of the seven plenteous years which were in the land of Egypt, and stored up the grain in towns; the grain of the fields which was round about every town he stored in the same.

49 И скопил6651 Иосиф3130 хлеба1250 весьма3966 много,7235 как песку2344 морского,3220 так что перестал2308 и считать,5608 ибо не369 стало счета.4557

49 And Joseph stored up grain as the sand of the sea, very much, until he was tired of numbering it; for it was without number.

50 До наступления935 годов8141 голода,7458 у Иосифа3130 родились3205 два8147 сына,1121 которых родила3205 ему Асенефа,621 дочь1323 Потифера,6319 жреца3548 Илиопольского.204

50 And to Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, whom Asiath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bore to him.

51 И нарек7121 Иосиф3130 имя8034 первенцу:1060 Манассия,4519 потому что говорил он Бог430 дал мне забыть5382 все несчастья5999 мои и весь дом1004 отца1 моего.

51 And Joseph called the name of his first-born Manasseh; For God, said he, has made me forget all my troubles, and all my father's house.

52 А другому8145 нарек7121 имя:8034 Ефрем,669 потому что говорил он Бог430 сделал6509 меня плодовитым6509 в земле776 страдания6040 моего.

52 And the name of the second he called Ephraim; For God has made me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.

53 И прошли3615 семь7651 лет8141 изобилия,7647 которое было в земле776 Египетской,4714

53 And the seven years of plenty that were in the land of Egypt came to an end.

54 и наступили2490935 семь7651 лет8141 голода,7458 как сказал559 Иосиф.3130 И был голод7458 во всех землях,776 а во всей земле776 Египетской4714 был хлеб.3899

54 And the seven years of famine began to come, according as Joseph had said; and there was famine in all lands; and in all the land of Egypt there was no bread.

55 Но когда и вся земля776 Египетская4714 начала7456 терпеть7456 голод,7456 то народ5971 начал6817 вопиять6817 к фараону6547 о хлебе.3899 И сказал559 фараон6547 всем Египтянам:4714 пойдите3212 к Иосифу3130 и делайте,6213 что он вам скажет.559

55 And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people complained against Pharaoh because of the lack of bread; and Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, Go to Joseph; and what he says to you, do.

56 И был голод7458 по всей земле;776 и отворил6605 Иосиф3130 все житницы, и стал7666 продавать7666 хлеб Египтянам.4714 Голод7458 же усиливался2388 в земле776 Египетской.4714

56 And the famine was over all the face of the land, and Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold to the Egyptians;

57 И из всех стран776 приходили935 в Египет4714 покупать7666 хлеб у Иосифа,3130 ибо голод7458 усилился2388 по всей земле.776

57 And the famine was severe in the land of Egypt. And the people from all lands came to Egypt to Joseph to buy grain; because the famine was severe in all lands.
