Глава 23

1 Если садишься за трапезу с правителем, примечай, что перед тобою.

2 Нож приставь к собственному горлу, чтобы не есть сверх меры!

3 Не соблазняйся его изысканным угощеньем — его еда обманчива.

4 Не изнуряй себя в погоне за богатством, будь разумен, обуздывай себя.

5 Разгорелись глаза на чужое добро — а его уж нет, вдруг крылья отрастило и, как орел, в небо улетело.

6 Не садись за трапезу со скаредным и не соблазняйся его изысканным угощеньем.

7 Он подобен тому, кто таится, но всему счет ведет, скажет тебе: «Ешь и пей», а сердце его к тебе не лежит.

8 Проглоченный кусок извергнешь да похвалы свои даром растратишь.

9 Не разговаривай с глупцом, ибо мудрость твоих слов он презирает.

10 Не нарушай древней межи — на поле сироты не посягай.

11 Ведь Заступник сих малых могуч, Он Сам вмешается в их тяжбу с тобою.

12 Сердце свое обрати к обличению, открой свой слух к разумному слову.

13 Не лишай юношу наказания: не умрет, коли накажешь розгой.

14 Накажешь его розгой — и от Шеола избавишь его.

15 Сын мой, если сердце твое познало мудрость, то и мое сердце радостью полнится.

16 Я буду радоваться всем естеством своим, когда твои уста будут говорить правду.

17 Пусть не завидует сердце твое грешникам, но всякий день живи в благоговении пред ГОСПОДОМ.

18 Знай, что есть у тебя будущее, и надежда твоя не погибнет.

19 Слушай, сын мой, познавай мудрость, сердце свое направь на путь верный.

20 Не будь среди тех, кто вином упивается и мясом объедается,

21 ибо пьянство и обжорство до нищеты доведут, сонливость — облачит в лохмотья.

22 Слушай отца своего: он дал тебе жизнь, и матушку свою не презирай, когда состарится.

23 Стремись обрести истину, но не торгуй мудростью, наставлением и разумом.

24 Ликовать будет отец праведника, и родитель мудрого человека будет радоваться, смотря на него.

25 Возрадуются отец твой и матушка твоя, возликует родившая тебя!

26 Сын мой, отдай мне сердце свое, не своди глаз с моего прямого пути.

27 Знай, блудница — что яма глубокая, узкий колодец — жена чужая.

28 Притаилась она в засаде, будто преступник, и множит изменников среди мужей.

29 У кого в доме горе: ах да ох? У кого ссоры и вой, синяки без причины, налитые кровью глаза?

30 У того, кто засиживается за вином, кто бродит в поисках хмельного.

31 Не смотри на вино, как оно рдеет, как искрится в чаше, как оно струится.

32 Как змея, оно ужалит тебя, как гадюка, укусит.

33 И глаза твои затуманятся, и мысли в сердце твоем извратятся,

34 будешь ты как спящий посреди моря, на верхушке мачты задремавший, будешь только твердить:

35 «Бьют меня, а мне и не больно, колотят, а я ничего не чувствую, вот просплюсь и опять буду искать, чего бы мне выпить».

6 Eat3898 you not the bread3899 of him that has an evil7451 eye,5869 neither408 desire183 you his dainty4303 meats:

7 For as he thinks8176 in his heart,5315 so3651 is he: Eat398 and drink,8354 said559 he to you; but his heart3820 is not with you.
