Chapter 48

1 AND it came to pass after these things that Joseph was told, Behold, your father is sick; and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.

2 And they en_lbp_informed Jacob, and said to him, Behold, your son Joseph has come to you; and Israel strengthened himself, and sat up on the bed.

3 And Jacob said to Joseph, God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me,

4 And he said to me, Behold, I will bless you, and multiply you, and I will make of you a multitude of peoples; and I will give this land to your descendants after you for an everlasting possession.

5 And now your two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you into the land of Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.

6 But the children that you begot after them shall be yours, and shall be called after the name of their brothers when they come into their inheritance.

7 And as for me, when I was coming from Padan-aram, Rachel died at my side in the land of Canaan on the way, within the distance of three or four miles from the entrance to Ephrath; and I buried her there on the road to Ephrath; the same is Bethlehem.

8 And when Israel saw Joseph's sons, he said to him, Who are these?

9 And Joseph said to his father, They are my sons whom God has given me in this place. And he said, Bring them near me, and I will bless them.

10 Now the eyes of Israel were dim because of age, so that he could not see well. And Joseph brought them near to him; and he kissed them and embraced them.

11 And Israel said to Joseph, I had not thought to see your face; and, 1o, God has shown me your children also.

12 And Joseph removed them from before his knees, and they bowed themselves before him with their faces to the ground.

13 Then Joseph took both of his sons, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought them near to him.

14 And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head; he changed the position of his hands wittingly, even though Manasseh was the first-born.

15 And Jacob blessed Joseph his son, saying, The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked righteously, the God who has supplied my needs from my youth to this day,

16 The angel who has delivered me from all evil, bless the lads; and let them bear my name and the names of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow and multiply in the midst of the earth.

17 And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him; and he held up his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head to Manasseh's head.

18 And Joseph said to his father, Not so, my father; for this is the first-born; put your right hand upon his head.

19 But his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it; he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of peoples.

20 And he blessed them that day, saying, By you shall Israel bless, and they shall say, May God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh; and thus he set Ephraim before Manasseh.

21 Then Israel said to Joseph, Behold, I am dying, but God shall be with you, and bring you again to the land of your fathers.

22 Moreover I have given to you one portion of the land more than our brothers, which I took from the and of the Amorites with my sword and with my bow.

2 Иакова3290 известили5046 и сказали:559 вот, сын1121 твой Иосиф3130 идет935 к тебе. Израиль3478 собрал2388 силы2388 свои и сел3427 на постели.4296

3 И сказал559 Иаков3290 Иосифу:3130 Бог410 Всемогущий7706 явился7200 мне в Лузе,3870 в земле776 Ханаанской,3667 и благословил1288 меня,

4 и сказал559 мне: вот, Я распложу6509 тебя, и размножу7235 тебя, и произведу5414 от тебя множество6951 народов,5971 и дам5414 землю776 сию потомству2233 твоему после310 тебя, в вечное5769 владение.272

5 И ныне два8147 сына1121 твои, родившиеся3205 тебе в земле776 Египетской,4714 до5704 моего прибытия935 к тебе в Египет,4714 мои они; Ефрем669 и Манассия,4519 как Рувим7205 и Симеон,8095 будут мои;

6 дети4138 же твои, которые родятся3205 от тебя после310 них, будут твои; они под5921 именем8034 братьев251 своих будут7121 именоваться7121 в их уделе.5159

7 Когда я шел935 из Месопотамии,6307 умерла4191 у меня Рахиль7354 в земле776 Ханаанской,3667 по дороге,1870 не доходя935 несколько3530776 до Ефрафы,672 и я похоронил6912 ее там на дороге1870 к Ефрафе,672 что ныне Вифлеем.1035

8 И увидел7200 Израиль3478 сыновей1121 Иосифа3130 и сказал:559 кто это?

9 И сказал559 Иосиф3130 отцу1 своему: это сыновья1121 мои, которых Бог430 дал5414 мне здесь. Иаков сказал:559 подведи3947 их ко мне, и я благословлю1288 их.

10 Глаза5869 же Израилевы3478 притупились3513 от старости;2207 не мог3201 он видеть7200 ясно. Иосиф подвел5066 их к нему, и он поцеловал5401 их и обнял2263 их.

11 И сказал559 Израиль3478 Иосифу:3130 не надеялся6419 я видеть7200 твое лице;6440 но вот, Бог430 показал7200 мне и детей2233 твоих.

12 И отвел3318 их Иосиф3130 от5973 колен1290 его и поклонился7812 ему лицем639 своим до земли.776

13 И взял3947 Иосиф3130 обоих,8147 Ефрема669 в правую3225 свою руку3225 против левой8040 Израиля,3478 а Манассию4519 в левую8040 против правой3225 Израиля,3478 и подвел5066 к нему.

14 Но Израиль3478 простер7971 правую3225 руку3225 свою и положил7896 на голову7218 Ефрему,669 хотя сей был меньший,6810 а левую8040 на голову7218 Манассии.4519 С намерением7919 положил он так руки3027 свои, хотя Манассия4519 был первенец.1060

15 И благословил1288 Иосифа3130 и сказал:559 Бог,430 пред3942 Которым ходили1980 отцы1 мои Авраам85 и Исаак,3327 Бог,430 пасущий7462 меня с тех пор, как я существую,5750 до сего дня,3117

16 Ангел,4397 избавляющий1350 меня от всякого зла,7451 да благословит1288 отроков5288 сих; да будет на них наречено7121 имя8034 мое и имя8034 отцов1 моих Авраама85 и Исаака,3327 и да возрастут1711 они во множество7230 посреди7130 земли.776

19 Но отец1 его не согласился3985 и сказал:559 знаю,3045 сын1121 мой, знаю;3045 и от него произойдет народ,5971 и он будет1431 велик;1431 но199 меньший6996 его брат251 будет1431 больше1431 его, и от семени2233 его произойдет многочисленный4393 народ.1471

20 И благословил1288 их в тот день,3117 говоря:559 тобою будет1288 благословлять1288 Израиль,3478 говоря:559 Бог430 да сотворит7760 тебе, как Ефрему669 и Манассии.4519 И поставил7760 Ефрема669 выше3942 Манассии.4519

21 И сказал559 Израиль3478 Иосифу:3130 вот, я умираю;4191 и Бог430 будет с вами и возвратит7725 вас в землю776 отцов1 ваших;

22 я даю5414 тебе, преимущественно пред братьями251 твоими, один259 участок,7926 который я взял3947 из рук3027 Аморреев567 мечом2719 моим и луком7198 моим.

1 AND it came to pass after these things that Joseph was told, Behold, your father is sick; and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.

9 And Joseph said to his father, They are my sons whom God has given me in this place. And he said, Bring them near me, and I will bless them.

9 И сказал559 Иосиф3130 отцу1 своему: это сыновья1121 мои, которых Бог430 дал5414 мне здесь. Иаков сказал:559 подведи3947 их ко мне, и я благословлю1288 их.

10 Now the eyes of Israel were dim because of age, so that he could not see well. And Joseph brought them near to him; and he kissed them and embraced them.

11 And Israel said to Joseph, I had not thought to see your face; and, 1o, God has shown me your children also.

12 And Joseph removed them from before his knees, and they bowed themselves before him with their faces to the ground.

13 Then Joseph took both of his sons, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought them near to him.

13 И взял3947 Иосиф3130 обоих,8147 Ефрема669 в правую3225 свою руку3225 против левой8040 Израиля,3478 а Манассию4519 в левую8040 против правой3225 Израиля,3478 и подвел5066 к нему.

20 And he blessed them that day, saying, By you shall Israel bless, and they shall say, May God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh; and thus he set Ephraim before Manasseh.

20 И благословил1288 их в тот день,3117 говоря:559 тобою будет1288 благословлять1288 Израиль,3478 говоря:559 Бог430 да сотворит7760 тебе, как Ефрему669 и Манассии.4519 И поставил7760 Ефрема669 выше3942 Манассии.4519

21 Then Israel said to Joseph, Behold, I am dying, but God shall be with you, and bring you again to the land of your fathers.

21 И сказал559 Израиль3478 Иосифу:3130 вот, я умираю;4191 и Бог430 будет с вами и возвратит7725 вас в землю776 отцов1 ваших;

22 Moreover I have given to you one portion of the land more than our brothers, which I took from the and of the Amorites with my sword and with my bow.
