1 The word1697 of the LORD3068 that834 came1961 to413 Jeremiah3414 the prophet5030 against413 the Philistines,6430 before2962 that Pharaoh6547 smote5221 853 Gaza.5804

2 Thus3541 saith559 the LORD;3068 Behold,2009 waters4325 rise up5927 out of the north,4480 6828 and shall be1961 an overflowing7857 flood,5158 and shall overflow7857 the land,776 and all4393 that is therein; the city,5892 and them that dwell3427 therein: then the men120 shall cry,2199 and all3605 the inhabitants3427 of the land776 shall howl.3213

3 At the noise4480 6963 of the stamping8161 of the hooves6541 of his strong47 horses, at the rushing4480 7494 of his chariots,7393 and at the rumbling1995 of his wheels,1534 the fathers1 shall not3808 look back6437 to413 their children1121 for feebleness4480 7510 of hands;3027

4 Because of5921 the day3117 that cometh935 to spoil7703 853 all3605 the Philistines,6430 and to cut off3772 from Tyrus6865 and Zidon6721 every3605 helper5826 that remaineth:8300 for3588 the LORD3068 will spoil7703 853 the Philistines,6430 the remnant7611 of the country339 of Caphtor.3731

5 Baldness7144 is come935 upon413 Gaza;5804 Ashkelon831 is cut off1820 with the remnant7611 of their valley:6010 how long5704 4970 wilt thou cut thyself?1413

6 O1945 thou sword2719 of the LORD,3068 how long5704 575 will it be ere3808 thou be quiet?8252 put up thyself622 into413 thy scabbard,8593 rest,7280 and be still.1826

7 How349 can it be quiet,8252 seeing the LORD3068 hath given it a charge6680 against413 Ashkelon,831 and against413 the sea3220 shore?2348 there8033 hath he appointed3259 it.

1 法老攻擊迦薩之先，有耶和華攻擊［against］非利士人的話臨到先知耶利米。

2 耶和華如此說：看哪［Behold］，有諸水［waters］從北方發起，必為［shall be］漲溢的洪水［flood］，要漲過遍地和其中所有的，並城和其中所住的；那時［then］人必呼喊，境內的居民都必哀號。

3 聽見敵人壯馬蹄跳的響聲和戰車隆隆、車輪轟轟；為父的手就發軟，必［shall］不回頭看顧兒女，

4 因為日子將到，要毀滅一切非利士人，又［and］剪除幫助推羅、西頓所剩下的人；原來耶和華必毀滅非利士人，就是迦斐託地［country］餘剩的人。

5 迦薩成了光禿；亞實基倫與谷中所剩的都被剪滅［Ashkelon is cut off with the remnant of their valley］；你用刀劃身，要到幾時呢？

6 耶和華的刀劍哪，你到幾時才止息呢？你要入鞘，安靖不動。

7 耶和華既囑咐［charge］它［it］攻擊亞實基倫和海邊之地，它焉能止息呢［How can it be quiet］？他已經派定它在那裏了［there hath he appointed it］。
