Das zweite Buch Mose (Exodus)

Kapitel 1

5 Und aller Seelen5315, die aus den5315 Lenden3409 Jakobs3290 kommen3318 waren, der waren siebenzig. Joseph3130 aber war zuvor in Ägypten4714.

6 Da nun Joseph3130 gestorben4191 war und alle seine Brüder251 und alle, die zu der Zeit1755 gelebt hatten,

7 wuchsen6509 die Kinder1121 Israel3478 und4390 zeugeten Kinder8317 und mehreten sich; und wurden ihrer sehr viel7235, daß ihrer das Land776 voll ward.

8 Da kam ein neuer2319 König4428 auf6965 in Ägypten4714, der wußte3045 nichts von Joseph3130;

9 und sprach559 zu seinem Volk5971: Siehe, des Volks5971 der Kinder1121 Israel3478 ist viel und mehr7227 denn wir.

10 Wohlan3051, wir wollen sie mit Listen dämpfen2449, daß ihrer nicht3254 so1931 viel7235 werden. Denn wo sich7122 ein Krieg erhübe, möchten sie sich auch zu unsern Feinden8130 schlagen und wider3898 uns streiten4421 und zum Lande776 ausziehen5927.

11 Und5892 man setzte7760 Fronvögte über8269 sie1129, die sie mit schweren Diensten5450 drücken6031 sollten; denn man bauete dem Pharao6547 die Städte4543 Pithon6619 und Raemses7486 zu Schatzhäusern.

12 Aber je mehr3651 sie6440 das Volk drückten6031, je mehr7235 sich es mehrete und ausbreitete6555. Und sie hielten die Kinder1121 Israel3478 wie einen Greuel.

13 Und5647 die Ägypter4714 zwangen5647 die Kinder1121 Israel3478 zu Dienst mit Unbarmherzigkeit6531

14 und machten4843 ihnen ihr Leben2416 sauer mit schwerer7186 Arbeit5656 im Ton2563 und Ziegeln3843 und mit allerlei Frönen auf dem Felde7704 und mit allerlei Arbeit5656, die sie ihnen auflegten5647 mit Unbarmherzigkeit6531.

15 Und der König4428 in Ägypten4714 sprach559 zu den ebräischen Wehmüttern3205, deren eine259 hieß8034 Siphra8236 und die8034 andere8145 Pua6326:

16 Wenn ihr3205 den ebräischen Weibern5680 helfet und auf dem Stuhl70 sehet, daß es ein Sohn1121 ist7200, so tötet4191 ihn; ist‘s aber eine Tochter1323, so lasset sie559 leben2425.

17 Aber die Wehmütter fürchteten3372 GOtt430 und taten nicht, wie der König4428 in Ägypten4714 zu6213 ihnen gesagt1696 hatte3205, sondern ließen2421 die Kinder3206 leben2421.

18 Da rief7121 der König4428 in Ägypten4714 den Wehmüttern3205 und sprach559 zu6213 ihnen: Warum4069 tut ihr das1697, daß ihr die Kinder3206 leben2421 lasset2421?

19 Die Wehmütter3205 antworteten Pharao6547: Die ebräischen Weiber802 sind nicht2962 wie die ägyptischen4713, denn sie559 sind harte2422 Weiber; ehe3205 die Wehmutter zu ihnen kommt935, haben sie geboren3205.

20 Darum tat3190 GOtt430 den Wehmüttern3205 Gutes. Und das Volk5971 mehrete sich und ward sehr3966 viel7235.

21 Und6213 weil die Wehmütter3205 GOtt430 fürchteten3372, bauete er ihnen Häuser1004.

22 Da gebot6680 Pharao6547 all seinem Volk5971 und sprach559: Alle Söhne1121, die geboren werden3209, werfet ins Wasser2975 und alle Töchter1323 lasset2421 leben.

Chapter 1

1 THESE are the names of the children of Israel, who came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob:

2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,

3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,

4 Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.

5 And all the persons that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy persons; for Joseph was in Egypt already.

6 And Joseph died, and all his brothers, and all that generation.

7 And the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, and multiplied and grew exceedingly strong; and the land was filled with them.

8 Now there rose up a new king over Egypt who knew not Joseph.

9 And he said to his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more numerous and stronger than we;

10 Come, let us deal wisely with them, before they multiply, lest when we chance to be at war, they will be added also to our enemies, and fight against us, and so drive us out of the land.

11 Therefore they appointed over them cruel taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh cities with storehouses, Pithom and Raamses.

12 But the more they oppressed them, the more they multiplied and became strong. And the Egyptians were grieved because of the children of Israel.

13 So the Egyptians oppressed the children of Israel severely;

14 And they made their lives bitter with hard labor, in mortar and in bricks and in all manner of work in the field; all their service wherein they made them serve was with rigor.

15 And the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of whom the name of the one was Puah and the name of the other Shoprah;

16 And he said to them, When you do perform your duties as midwives to the Hebrew women, look out when they kneel to deliver; if it is a male, then you must kill him; but if it is a female, then let her live.

17 But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but let the boys live.

18 So the king of Egypt called for the midwives and said to them, Why have you done this thing, and let the boys live?

19 And the midwives said to Pharaoh, The Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women; for they themselves are midwives, and are delivered before a midwife comes in to them.

20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives, because they spared the males; and the people multiplied, and grew exceedingly strong.

21 And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, he blessed them with families.

22 And Pharaoh charged all the people, saying, Every son that is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive.
