約翰福音

第1章

1 元始有道、道與上帝共在、道卽上帝、

2 是道元始與上帝共在也、

3 萬物以道而造、凡受造者、無不以之而造、

4 生在道中、生也者、人之光、

5 光照於暗、暗者弗識之、○〔耶穌降生後廿六年之事〕

6 有上帝所遣者名約翰、

7 其至爲光作證、使衆以之而信、

8 約翰非光、特爲光證耳、

9 眞光者、臨世照萬人者也、

10 其在世、世以之而創、世不識之、

11 其至己地、人不受之、

12 受卽信其名者、賜之權、爲上帝子、

13 是非由血氣、井由情欲、非由人意而生、乃由上帝也、

14 夫道成人身、居於我儕之間、我儕見其榮、誠天父獨生子之榮、以恩寵眞理而滿也、〇

15 約翰爲之證、呼曰、我言後我來而先我在、以其本先我者、卽斯人也、

16 由其盛而我衆受恩寵、恩寵益增、

17 例授自摩西、恩寵眞理、則由耶穌基督、

18 未有人見上帝、惟獨生子、在父懷者、彰明之、○〔耶穌降生之後三十年事〕

19 約翰之證如左、猶太人自耶路撒冷、遣祭司及利未人、問約翰曰、爾爲誰、

20 約翰承而不諱、其承曰、我非基督、

21 曰、爾爲誰、以利亞乎、曰、否、曰、抑當來之先知乎、曰、否、

22 曰、然則爾爲誰、使我復遣我者、爾自謂何也、

23 曰、我卽聲呼於野云、直主道者、如先知以賽亞言、

24 奉使乃法唎賽人、

25 又問曰、爾非基督、非以利亞、非先知、何爲施洗耶、

26 約翰曰、我以水施洗、有立爾中者、爾不識之、

27 此人後我來、而先我在、卽其履帶、我不堪解、

28 此事見於約但外之伯大巴喇、約翰施洗處、〇

29 明日、約翰見耶穌就己、則曰、觀上帝之羔負世人之罪者、

30 我言後我來、先我在、以其本先我者、卽斯人也、

31 我素不識之、我至以水施洗、欲顯之於以色列民耳、〇

32 約翰又證曰、我見聖神似鴿、自天降而止其上、

33 我不識之、惟遣我以水施洗者、語我曰、爾觀聖神降而止其上、卽以聖神施洗者、

34 故我見而證其爲上帝子也、〇

35 明日、約翰俏二門徒立、

36 見耶穌遊行、則曰、觀上帝之羔、

37 二徒聞言、從耶穌、〇

38 耶穌顧之、曰、爾何求耶、曰、啦吡何居、啦吡譯卽夫子也、

39 曰來觀、遂至、觀其所居、時已申正、是日同居焉、

40 聽約翰而從耶穌者、其一西門彼得兄弟安得烈、

41 先遇兄弟西門曰、我儕遇彌賽亞、譯卽基督、〔基督沐膏之謂〕

42 遂引見耶穌、耶穌視之曰、爾乃約拿子西門、將稱磯法、譯卽彼得、〔彼得磐之謂〕〇

43 明日、耶穌欲往加利利、遇腓力曰、從我、

44 腓力伯賽大人也、與安得烈彼得同邑、

45 腓力遇拿但業曰、摩西例所載諸先知所記者、我已遇之、卽拿撒勒人約瑟子耶穌也、

46 拿但業曰、拿撒勒能生善人乎、腓力曰、來觀、

47 耶穌見拿但業至、指之曰、是誠以色列人、無詭譎者、

48 拿但業曰、何由知我、耶穌曰、腓力未呼爾、爾在無花菓樹下、我已見爾矣、

49 拿但業曰、夫子誠上帝子、以色列王也、

50 耶穌曰、我言無花菓樹下見爾、爾信乎、然所見、將有大于此者、

51 又曰、我誠告爾、爾將見天開、上帝使者、陟降於人子上矣、

Chapter 1

1 THE Word was in the beginning, and that very Word was with God, and God was that Word.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 Everything came to be by his hand; and without him not even one thing came to be of what was created.

4 The life was in him, and the life is the light of men.

5 And the same light shines in the darkness, and the darkness does not overcome it.

6 There was a man, sent from God, whose name was John.

7 He came as a witness to testify concerning the light, so that every man might believe by means of him.

8 He was not the light, but to testify concerning the light.

9 He was the true light, which lighteth every man who came into the world.

10 He was in the world, and the world was under his hand, and yet the world knew him not.

11 He came to his own, and his own did not receive him.

12 But those who received him, to them he gave power to become sons of God, especially to those who believed in his name;

13 Those who are not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but born of God.

14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw his glory, a glory like that of the firstborn of the Father, full of grace and truth.

15 John witnessed concerning him and cried and said, This is the one of whom I said, He is coming after me, and yet he is ahead of me, because he was before me.

16 And of his fulness we have all received, grace for grace.

17 For the law was given by Moses; but truth and grace came into being by Jesus Christ.

18 No man has ever seen God; but the firstborn of God, who is in the bosom of his Father, he has declared him.

19 This is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent to him priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who are you?

20 And he confessed and did not deny it; but he declared, I am not the Christ.

21 Then they asked him again, What then? Are you Elijah? And he said, I am not. Are you a prophet? And he said, No.

22 Then they said to him, Who are you? so that we may give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say concerning yourself?

23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Straighten the highway of the Lord, as the prophet Isaiah said.

24 Those who were sent were from the Pharisees.

25 And they asked him and said to him, Why then do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor a prophet?

26 John answered and said to them, I baptize with water; but among you stands one whom you do not know;

27 This is the one who comes after me, and is ahead of me, the one even the strings of whose shoes I am not good enough to untie.

28 These things happened in Bethany, at the Jordan crossing, where John was baptizing.

29 The next day John saw Jesus coming to him, and he said, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

30 This is the one of whom I said, The man who comes after me is yet ahead of me, because he was before me.

31 And I did not know him; but that he might be made known to Israel, I came to baptize with water.

32 And John testified and said, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it rested upon him.

33 And yet I did not know him; but he who sent me to baptize with water, said to me, The one upon whom you see the Spirit descending and resting, he is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.

34 And I saw and testified that this is the Son of God.

35 The next day John was standing, with two of his disciples;

36 And he looked at Jesus while he walked, and said, Behold, the Lamb of God!

37 And when he said it, two of his disciples heard it; and they went after Jesus.

38 And Jesus turned around and saw them following him, and he said to them, What do you want? They said to him, Rabbi (Teacher), where do you live?

39 He said to them, Come, and you will see. And they came and saw where he stayed, and they remained with him that day; and it was about the tenth hour.

40 One of them who heard John and followed Jesus, was Andrew, the brother of Simon.

41 He saw his brother Simon first, and said to him, We have found the Christ.

42 And he brought him to Jesus. And Jesus looked at him and said, You are Simon the son of Jonah; you are called Kepa (a Stone).

43 The next day Jesus wanted to leave for Galilee, and he found Philip, and said to him, Follow me.

44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Simon.

45 Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, We have found that Jesus, the son of Joseph, of Nazareth, is the one concerning whom Moses wrote in the law and the prophets.

46 Nathanael said to him, Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Philip said to him, Come and you will see.

47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him and he said of him, Behold truly an Israelite, in whom there is no guile!

48 Nathanael said to him, Whence do you know me? Jesus said to him. Even before Philip called you, while you were under the fig tree, I saw you.

49 Nathanael answered, saying to him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God, you are the King of Israel.

50 Jesus said to him, Do you believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree? you shall see greater things than these.

51 He said to him, Truly, truly, I say to all of you, that from now on you will see the heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending to the Son of man.

1 元始有道、道與上帝共在、道卽上帝、	1 THE Word was in the beginning, and that very Word was with God, and God was that Word.
2 是道元始與上帝共在也、	2 The same was in the beginning with God.

8 約翰非光、特爲光證耳、	8 He was not the light, but to testify concerning the light.
9 眞光者、臨世照萬人者也、	9 He was the true light, which lighteth every man who came into the world.
10 其在世、世以之而創、世不識之、	10 He was in the world, and the world was under his hand, and yet the world knew him not.
11 其至己地、人不受之、	11 He came to his own, and his own did not receive him.
12 受卽信其名者、賜之權、爲上帝子、	12 But those who received him, to them he gave power to become sons of God, especially to those who believed in his name;
13 是非由血氣、井由情欲、非由人意而生、乃由上帝也、	13 Those who are not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but born of God.
14 夫道成人身、居於我儕之間、我儕見其榮、誠天父獨生子之榮、以恩寵眞理而滿也、〇	14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw his glory, a glory like that of the firstborn of the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 約翰爲之證、呼曰、我言後我來而先我在、以其本先我者、卽斯人也、	15 John witnessed concerning him and cried and said, This is the one of whom I said, He is coming after me, and yet he is ahead of me, because he was before me.
16 由其盛而我衆受恩寵、恩寵益增、	16 And of his fulness we have all received, grace for grace.
17 例授自摩西、恩寵眞理、則由耶穌基督、	17 For the law was given by Moses; but truth and grace came into being by Jesus Christ.
18 未有人見上帝、惟獨生子、在父懷者、彰明之、○〔耶穌降生之後三十年事〕	18 No man has ever seen God; but the firstborn of God, who is in the bosom of his Father, he has declared him.
19 約翰之證如左、猶太人自耶路撒冷、遣祭司及利未人、問約翰曰、爾爲誰、	19 This is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent to him priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who are you?
20 約翰承而不諱、其承曰、我非基督、	20 And he confessed and did not deny it; but he declared, I am not the Christ.
21 曰、爾爲誰、以利亞乎、曰、否、曰、抑當來之先知乎、曰、否、	21 Then they asked him again, What then? Are you Elijah? And he said, I am not. Are you a prophet? And he said, No.
22 曰、然則爾爲誰、使我復遣我者、爾自謂何也、	22 Then they said to him, Who are you? so that we may give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say concerning yourself?
23 曰、我卽聲呼於野云、直主道者、如先知以賽亞言、	23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Straighten the highway of the Lord, as the prophet Isaiah said.
24 奉使乃法唎賽人、	24 Those who were sent were from the Pharisees.
25 又問曰、爾非基督、非以利亞、非先知、何爲施洗耶、	25 And they asked him and said to him, Why then do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor a prophet?
26 約翰曰、我以水施洗、有立爾中者、爾不識之、	26 John answered and said to them, I baptize with water; but among you stands one whom you do not know;
27 此人後我來、而先我在、卽其履帶、我不堪解、	27 This is the one who comes after me, and is ahead of me, the one even the strings of whose shoes I am not good enough to untie.
28 此事見於約但外之伯大巴喇、約翰施洗處、〇	28 These things happened in Bethany, at the Jordan crossing, where John was baptizing.
29 明日、約翰見耶穌就己、則曰、觀上帝之羔負世人之罪者、	29 The next day John saw Jesus coming to him, and he said, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
30 我言後我來、先我在、以其本先我者、卽斯人也、	30 This is the one of whom I said, The man who comes after me is yet ahead of me, because he was before me.
31 我素不識之、我至以水施洗、欲顯之於以色列民耳、〇	31 And I did not know him; but that he might be made known to Israel, I came to baptize with water.
32 約翰又證曰、我見聖神似鴿、自天降而止其上、	32 And John testified and said, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it rested upon him.
33 我不識之、惟遣我以水施洗者、語我曰、爾觀聖神降而止其上、卽以聖神施洗者、	33 And yet I did not know him; but he who sent me to baptize with water, said to me, The one upon whom you see the Spirit descending and resting, he is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.
34 故我見而證其爲上帝子也、〇	34 And I saw and testified that this is the Son of God.
35 明日、約翰俏二門徒立、	35 The next day John was standing, with two of his disciples;
36 見耶穌遊行、則曰、觀上帝之羔、	36 And he looked at Jesus while he walked, and said, Behold, the Lamb of God!
37 二徒聞言、從耶穌、〇	37 And when he said it, two of his disciples heard it; and they went after Jesus.
38 耶穌顧之、曰、爾何求耶、曰、啦吡何居、啦吡譯卽夫子也、	38 And Jesus turned around and saw them following him, and he said to them, What do you want? They said to him, Rabbi (Teacher), where do you live?
39 曰來觀、遂至、觀其所居、時已申正、是日同居焉、	39 He said to them, Come, and you will see. And they came and saw where he stayed, and they remained with him that day; and it was about the tenth hour.
40 聽約翰而從耶穌者、其一西門彼得兄弟安得烈、	40 One of them who heard John and followed Jesus, was Andrew, the brother of Simon.
41 先遇兄弟西門曰、我儕遇彌賽亞、譯卽基督、〔基督沐膏之謂〕	41 He saw his brother Simon first, and said to him, We have found the Christ.
42 遂引見耶穌、耶穌視之曰、爾乃約拿子西門、將稱磯法、譯卽彼得、〔彼得磐之謂〕〇	42 And he brought him to Jesus. And Jesus looked at him and said, You are Simon the son of Jonah; you are called Kepa (a Stone).

46 拿但業曰、拿撒勒能生善人乎、腓力曰、來觀、	46 Nathanael said to him, Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Philip said to him, Come and you will see.
47 耶穌見拿但業至、指之曰、是誠以色列人、無詭譎者、	47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him and he said of him, Behold truly an Israelite, in whom there is no guile!
48 拿但業曰、何由知我、耶穌曰、腓力未呼爾、爾在無花菓樹下、我已見爾矣、	48 Nathanael said to him, Whence do you know me? Jesus said to him. Even before Philip called you, while you were under the fig tree, I saw you.
49 拿但業曰、夫子誠上帝子、以色列王也、	49 Nathanael answered, saying to him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God, you are the King of Israel.
50 耶穌曰、我言無花菓樹下見爾、爾信乎、然所見、將有大于此者、	50 Jesus said to him, Do you believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree? you shall see greater things than these.
51 又曰、我誠告爾、爾將見天開、上帝使者、陟降於人子上矣、	51 He said to him, Truly, truly, I say to all of you, that from now on you will see the heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending to the Son of man.
