第1章

1 比都耳子約耳得耶和華默示、曰、

2 長老居民、尚其聽之哉、我將有言、乃爾父及今所未聞也、

3 當告若子若孫歷代毋忘、

4 維彼蝗蟲、食爾禾稼、其食餘、次至者食之、有餘、三至者食之、又有餘、四至者食之、

5 釀酒無資、旣醉者醒而哭泣、欲飲者哀號不已、

6 異族犯境、强而且衆、不可勝數、其齒若牡獅、

7 其牙若牝獅、折我葡萄樹、剝我無花果、去皮現質、

8 委而棄之、爾當哀哭、若女未笄而字人、夫沒、身衣衰絰、

9 禮物灌奠、不獻於耶和華殿、維彼祭司、在耶和華前、供其役事者、不勝號泣。

10 田畝荒蕪、邦國號呼、五穀已盡、酒釀已罄、膏油已匱、

11 土產已絕、麰麥小麥、歸於烏有、農夫含羞、塲師抱媿、

12 葡萄之樹全枯、無花果樹憔悴、石榴棗樹、蘋果林木、無不凋零、民間懽樂、變爲憂戚、

13 禮物灌奠、不入上帝殿、故祭司當衣衰絰、供役祭壇者當號泣、奉事我上帝者、入室衣麻、永夕不解、

14 使人禁食、必守大會、集長老居民、入爾上帝耶和華之殿、呼龥耶和華、

15 嗚呼哀哉、耶和華降災、其日伊邇、全能之主、殲滅是邦、

16 維我億兆、糈糧已絕、上帝殿中、歡樂已止、

17 種播土壤、枯而不萌、五穀不登、倉廪空虛、遂至損壞、

18 六畜無苑、宛轉哀鳴、羣羊皆斃、

19 火燬牧塲、林木皆焚、我無所望、惟龥耶和華、

20 溪河其涸、牧塲盡燬、野獸仰望於上。

4 That which the palmerworm1501 has left3499 has the locust697 eaten;398 and that which the locust697 has left3499 has the cankerworm3218 eaten;398 and that which the cankerworm3218 has left3499 has the caterpillar2625 eaten.398

5 Awake,6974 you drunkards,7910 and weep;1058 and howl,3213 all3605 you drinkers8354 of wine,3196 because5921 of the new wine;6071 for it is cut3772 off from your mouth.6310

6 For a nation1471 is come5927 up on my land,776 strong,6099 and without369 number,4557 whose teeth8127 are the teeth8127 of a lion,738 and he has the cheek4973 teeth4973 of a great3833 lion.3833

7 He has laid7760 my vine1612 waste,8047 and barked7111 my fig8384 tree: he has made it clean bore,2834 and cast7993 it away; the branches8299 thereof are made white.3835

8 Lament421 like a virgin1330 girded2296 with sackcloth8242 for the husband1167 of her youth.5271

9 The meat offering4503 and the drink5262 offering is cut3772 off from the house1004 of the LORD;3068 the priests,3548 the LORD's3068 ministers,8334 mourn.56

10 The field7704 is wasted,7703 the land127 mourns;56 for the corn1715 is wasted:7703 the new8492 wine8492 is dried3001 up, the oil3323 languishes.535

11 Be you ashamed,954 O you farmers;406 howl,3213 O you vinedressers,3755 for the wheat2406 and for the barley;8184 because3588 the harvest7105 of the field7704 is perished.6

12 The vine1612 is dried3001 up, and the fig8384 tree languishes;535 the pomegranate7416 tree, the palm8558 tree also,1571 and the apple8598 tree, even all3605 the trees6086 of the field,7704 are withered:3001 because3588 joy8342 is withered3001 away from the sons1121 of men.120
