Розділ 10

1 А коли Ездра молився та сповіда́вся, плакав та припада́в перед Божим домом, зібрався до нього з Ізраїля дуже великий збір, — чолові́ки, і жінки́ та діти, бо наро́д плакав ре́вним плаче́м...

2 І відпові́в Шеханія, Єхіїлів син, з Еламових синів, та й сказав до Ездри: „Ми спроневі́рилися нашому Богові, бо взяли ми чужи́нок із наро́дів цього кра́ю за жіно́к. Але є ще наді́я для Ізраїля в цьо́му!

3 А тепер складімо заповіта нашому Богові, що випровадимо від себе всіх жінок та наро́джене від них, за радою пана нашого, та тих, хто тремти́ть перед заповіддю нашого Бога, і буде зро́блене за Зако́ном.

4 Устань, бо на тобі ця річ, а ми з тобою. Будь му́жній і дій!“

5 І встав Ездра, і заприсяг зверхників, священиків і Левитів та всього Ізраїля, щоб робити за цим словом. І вони заприсягли́.

6 І Ездра встав з-перед Божого дому й пішов до кімна́ти Єгохонана, Ел'яшівового сина, і ночував там. Хліба він не їв і води не пив, бо був у жало́бі за спроневі́рення пове́рненців.

7 І оголоси́ли в Юдеї та в Єрусалимі до всіх пове́рненців, щоб зібратися до Єрусалиму.

8 А кожен, хто не при́йде до трьох день, за порадою зверхників та старши́х, — увесь маєток того буде зро́блений закляттям, а він буде ви́лучений із громади пове́рненців.

9 І зібралися всі люди Юди та Веніямина до Єрусалиму до трьох день, — це був дев'ятий місяць, двадцятого дня місяця. І сидів увесь народ на площі Божого дому, тремтячи́ від цієї справи та від дощу.

10 І встав священик Ездра та й сказав до них: „Ви спроневі́рилися, і взяли чужи́нних жінок, щоб побільши́ти Ізраїлеву прови́ну.

11 А тепер повині́ться Господе́ві, Богові ваших батьків, і чиніть Його волю! І віддаліться від наро́дів цього кра́ю та від тих чужих жіно́к!“

12 І відповіла́ вся громада, і сказали гучним голосом: „Так, за словом твоїм, ми повинні зробити!

13 Але наро́д числе́нний, і час дощів, і нема сили стояти на вулиці. Та й праці не на один день і не на два, бо ми багато нагрішили в цій справі.

14 Нехай же стануть наші зверхники за ввесь збір, а кожен, хто є в наших містах, хто взяв чужи́нних жіно́к, нехай при́йде на означені часи́, а з ними старші́ кожного міста та су́дді його, аж поки не відве́рнеться від нас жар гніву нашого Бога за цю річ“.

15 Особливо стали над цим Йонатан, син Асагелів, та Яхзея, син Тіквин, а Мешуллам та Левит Шеббетай допомагали їм.

16 І зробили так пове́рненні. І відділи́в собі священик Ездра людей, голів батьків за родом їхніх батьків, і всі вони поіме́нно. І сіли вони першого дня десятого місяця, щоб дослідити цю справу.

17 І скінчи́ли до першого дня першого місяця справи про всіх тих людей, що взяли були чужи́нних жіно́к.

18 І знайшлися поміж священичими синами, що взяли́ чужи́нних жіно́к, із синів Єшуї, сина Йоцадакового, та братів його: Моасея, і Еліезер, і Ярів, і Ґедалія.

19 І дали́ вони руку свою, що повипрова́джують жіно́к своїх, а винні прине́сли в жертву барана́ з отари за прови́ну свою.

20 А з синів Іммерових: Ханані та Зевадія.

21 І з синів Харімових: Массея, і Елійя, і Шемая, і Єхіїл, і Уззійя.

22 Із синів Пашхурових: Ел'йоенай, Маасея, Ізмаїл, Натанаїл, Йозавад та Ел'аса.

23 А з Левитів: Йозавад, і Шім'ї, і Келая, він Келіта, Петахія, Юда та Еліезер.

24 А з співакі́в: Ел'яшів. А з придве́рних: Шаллум, і Телем, та Урі.

25 А з Ізраїля, з синів Пар'ошових: Рам'я, і Їззійя, і Малкійя, і Мійямін, і Елеазар, і Малкійя та Беная.

26 А з синів Еламових: Маттанія, Захарій, і Єхіїл, і Авді, і Єремот, і Елійя,

27 І з синів Затту: Ел'йоенай, Ел'яшів, Маттанія, і Еремот, і Завад та Азіза.

28 А з синів Беваєвих: Єгоханан, Хананія, Заббай, Атлай.

29 І з синів Банієвих: Мешуллам, Маллух, і Адая, Яшув, і Шеал та Рамот.

30 І з синів Пахатових: Моав, Адна, і Хелал, Беная, Маасея, Маттанія, Веселії́л, і Біннуй та Манасія.

31 І з синів Харімових: Еліезер, Їшшійя, Малкійя, Шемая, Шімон,

32 Веніямин, Маллух, Шемарія.

33 З синів Хашумових: Маттенай, Маттатта, Завад, Еліфелет, Єремай, Манасія, Шім'ї.

34 З синів Банаєвих: Маадай, Амрам, і Уїл,

35 Беная, Бедея, Келугу,

36 Ванія, Меремот, Ел'ятів,

37 Маттанія, Маттенай, і Яасай,

38 і Бані, і Бійнуй, Шім'ї,

39 і Шелемія, і Натан, і Адая,

40 Махнадвай, Шашай, Шарай,

41 Азаріїл, і Шелемія, Шемарія,

42 Шаллум, Амарія, Йо́сип.

43 А з синів Нево: Єіїл, Маттітія, Завад, Зевіна, Яддай, і Йоїл, Беная.

44 Усі оці взяли́ були́ чужи́нних жіно́к, а деякі з цих жіно́к і дітей породили.

Ezra

Chapter 10

1 NOW when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, prostrating himself and weeping before the house of the LORD, there assembled to him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children; for the children wept bitterly.

2 And Shechaniah the son of Nehael, one of the descendants of Elam, answered and said to Ezra the scribe, We have transgressed against our God, and have taken foreign wives of the people of the land; now is there any hope for Israel concerning this thing?

3 Therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the alien wives and those who are born of them, according to the counsel of the LORD and of those who tremble at the law of our God and his commandment; do it now and be strong.

4 For this law is decreed for you; for we are with you; be strong and do it.

5 Then Ezra the scribe arose and made the elders of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel to swear that they would do according to this command. And they swore.

6 Then Ezra the scribe rose up from before the house of God and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Elisha; and he sat there, but he neither ate bread nor drank water; for he was sorrowful because of the transgression of the people.

7 And they made a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem to all the exiles that they should gather themselves together to Jerusalem;

8 And that whosoever would not come within three days, it should be done to him according to the counsel of the elders and the chiefs, all his wealth could be forfeited and he himself separated from the people of Israel.

9 Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin assembled at Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the tenth day of the month; and all the people of the LORD assembled in the street of the temple of the LORD, trembling and shuddering because of this matter.

10 Then Ezra the priest stood up and said to them, You have transgressed against God, and have taken foreign wives, and thus increased the sins of Israel.

11 Now therefore make confession to the LORD God of your fathers, and do his will; separate yourselves from the peoples of the land and from the alien wives.

12 Then all the people answered and said to Ezra with a loud voice, Your words concerning us are good, and we shall accept everything which you say concerning us, and do it truthfully.

13 But now the people are many, and it is the rainy season, and we are not able to stand in the street, neither is this a work of one day or two; for our sins are many in this matter.

14 Let now our elders and all the people stand up, and let all who are in our cities, who have taken foreign wives, come at the time of prayer, and with them the elders of the cities and their judges, till the fierce wrath of our God for this matter is turned from us.

15 Only Jonathan the son of Emmanuel and Nehaziah the son of Tikyah were opposed to this matter; and Matai the Levite supported them.

16 And the exiles did so. And Ezra the priest selected ten men, chiefs of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them were called by their names; and they sat down on the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.

17 And they finished examining all the men who had taken foreign wives by the first day of the first month.

18 And among the descendants of the priests there were found some who had taken foreign wives, namely, of the sons of Joshua the son of Jozadak and his brothers, Maasiah and Eleazer and Jonadab and Gedaliah.

19 And they also consented that they would put away their wives; so they offered rams of the flock for their sins.

20 And of the sons of Immer, Hanani and Zechariah.

21 And of the sons of Haram, Maasiah and Elijah and Shemaiah and Henanael and Uzziah.

22 And of the sons of Pashhur, Elian, Maasiah, Ishmael, Nathanael, Jozabar, and Elasah.

23 Of the Levites, Jozabar, Shimei, Kelnah, Kelita, Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.

24 And of the ministers, Elishah; and of the porters, Shallum, Etlam, and Udi.

25 Moreover of Israel, of the sons of Parash, Jeremiah, Jezaniah, Malchiah, Benjamin, Eleazer, Malchiah, and Benaiah.

26 And of the sons of Elam, Nethniah, Zechariah, Neiael, Abdi, Jeremoth, and Eliho.

27 And of the sons of Zatiah, Elihnai, Elishah, Nethaniah, Jeremoth, Zabor, and Uzzia.

28 Of the sons of Bebai, Johanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, and Athlai.

29 Of the sons of Bachi, of Tashlom, Malluch, Uzziah, Jashub, Saul, and Jeremoth.

30 And of the sons of Shultan-moab, Gedaliah, Celal, Benaniah, Maasiah, Mattaniah, Bezaliel, and his sons, descendants of Manasseh.

31 And of the sons of Haram, Eliezer, Malchiah, Anshua, Shemaiah, Simeon,

32 Benjamin, Malluch, and Shemaiah.

33 Of the sons of Hashum, Mahnai, Mattathah, Zachar, Eliphelet, Carmi, Manasseh, and Shimai.

34 Of the sons of Bachi, Maadai, Amram, Joel,

35 Benaiah, the son of Chelluh,

36 Nehaiel, Meremoth, Eliashib,

37 Mattaniah. Mattenai, and Aoti.

38 And of the sons of Shimei

39 And Shelemiah, Nathan, and Azariah,

40 Makizab, Shishai, Sharai,

41 Ardaei, Memariah, Shemariah, Shallum,

42 Amariah, and Joseph.

43 Of the sons of Nebo, Neboael, Matitha, Zachor, Zebina, Joel, and Benaiah.

44 All these had taken foreign wives; and some of them had wives by whom they had children.

1 А коли Ездра молився та сповіда́вся, плакав та припада́в перед Божим домом, зібрався до нього з Ізраїля дуже великий збір, — чолові́ки, і жінки́ та діти, бо наро́д плакав ре́вним плаче́м...	1 NOW when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, prostrating himself and weeping before the house of the LORD, there assembled to him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children; for the children wept bitterly.
2 І відпові́в Шеханія, Єхіїлів син, з Еламових синів, та й сказав до Ездри: „Ми спроневі́рилися нашому Богові, бо взяли ми чужи́нок із наро́дів цього кра́ю за жіно́к. Але є ще наді́я для Ізраїля в цьо́му!	2 And Shechaniah the son of Nehael, one of the descendants of Elam, answered and said to Ezra the scribe, We have transgressed against our God, and have taken foreign wives of the people of the land; now is there any hope for Israel concerning this thing?
3 А тепер складімо заповіта нашому Богові, що випровадимо від себе всіх жінок та наро́джене від них, за радою пана нашого, та тих, хто тремти́ть перед заповіддю нашого Бога, і буде зро́блене за Зако́ном.	3 Therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the alien wives and those who are born of them, according to the counsel of the LORD and of those who tremble at the law of our God and his commandment; do it now and be strong.
4 Устань, бо на тобі ця річ, а ми з тобою. Будь му́жній і дій!“	4 For this law is decreed for you; for we are with you; be strong and do it.
5 І встав Ездра, і заприсяг зверхників, священиків і Левитів та всього Ізраїля, щоб робити за цим словом. І вони заприсягли́.	5 Then Ezra the scribe arose and made the elders of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel to swear that they would do according to this command. And they swore.
6 І Ездра встав з-перед Божого дому й пішов до кімна́ти Єгохонана, Ел'яшівового сина, і ночував там. Хліба він не їв і води не пив, бо був у жало́бі за спроневі́рення пове́рненців.	6 Then Ezra the scribe rose up from before the house of God and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Elisha; and he sat there, but he neither ate bread nor drank water; for he was sorrowful because of the transgression of the people.
7 І оголоси́ли в Юдеї та в Єрусалимі до всіх пове́рненців, щоб зібратися до Єрусалиму.	7 And they made a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem to all the exiles that they should gather themselves together to Jerusalem;
8 А кожен, хто не при́йде до трьох день, за порадою зверхників та старши́х, — увесь маєток того буде зро́блений закляттям, а він буде ви́лучений із громади пове́рненців.	8 And that whosoever would not come within three days, it should be done to him according to the counsel of the elders and the chiefs, all his wealth could be forfeited and he himself separated from the people of Israel.
9 І зібралися всі люди Юди та Веніямина до Єрусалиму до трьох день, — це був дев'ятий місяць, двадцятого дня місяця. І сидів увесь народ на площі Божого дому, тремтячи́ від цієї справи та від дощу.	9 Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin assembled at Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the tenth day of the month; and all the people of the LORD assembled in the street of the temple of the LORD, trembling and shuddering because of this matter.
10 І встав священик Ездра та й сказав до них: „Ви спроневі́рилися, і взяли чужи́нних жінок, щоб побільши́ти Ізраїлеву прови́ну.	10 Then Ezra the priest stood up and said to them, You have transgressed against God, and have taken foreign wives, and thus increased the sins of Israel.
11 А тепер повині́ться Господе́ві, Богові ваших батьків, і чиніть Його волю! І віддаліться від наро́дів цього кра́ю та від тих чужих жіно́к!“	11 Now therefore make confession to the LORD God of your fathers, and do his will; separate yourselves from the peoples of the land and from the alien wives.
12 І відповіла́ вся громада, і сказали гучним голосом: „Так, за словом твоїм, ми повинні зробити!	12 Then all the people answered and said to Ezra with a loud voice, Your words concerning us are good, and we shall accept everything which you say concerning us, and do it truthfully.
13 Але наро́д числе́нний, і час дощів, і нема сили стояти на вулиці. Та й праці не на один день і не на два, бо ми багато нагрішили в цій справі.	13 But now the people are many, and it is the rainy season, and we are not able to stand in the street, neither is this a work of one day or two; for our sins are many in this matter.
14 Нехай же стануть наші зверхники за ввесь збір, а кожен, хто є в наших містах, хто взяв чужи́нних жіно́к, нехай при́йде на означені часи́, а з ними старші́ кожного міста та су́дді його, аж поки не відве́рнеться від нас жар гніву нашого Бога за цю річ“.	14 Let now our elders and all the people stand up, and let all who are in our cities, who have taken foreign wives, come at the time of prayer, and with them the elders of the cities and their judges, till the fierce wrath of our God for this matter is turned from us.
15 Особливо стали над цим Йонатан, син Асагелів, та Яхзея, син Тіквин, а Мешуллам та Левит Шеббетай допомагали їм.	15 Only Jonathan the son of Emmanuel and Nehaziah the son of Tikyah were opposed to this matter; and Matai the Levite supported them.
16 І зробили так пове́рненні. І відділи́в собі священик Ездра людей, голів батьків за родом їхніх батьків, і всі вони поіме́нно. І сіли вони першого дня десятого місяця, щоб дослідити цю справу.	16 And the exiles did so. And Ezra the priest selected ten men, chiefs of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them were called by their names; and they sat down on the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.
17 І скінчи́ли до першого дня першого місяця справи про всіх тих людей, що взяли були чужи́нних жіно́к.	17 And they finished examining all the men who had taken foreign wives by the first day of the first month.
18 І знайшлися поміж священичими синами, що взяли́ чужи́нних жіно́к, із синів Єшуї, сина Йоцадакового, та братів його: Моасея, і Еліезер, і Ярів, і Ґедалія.	18 And among the descendants of the priests there were found some who had taken foreign wives, namely, of the sons of Joshua the son of Jozadak and his brothers, Maasiah and Eleazer and Jonadab and Gedaliah.
19 І дали́ вони руку свою, що повипрова́джують жіно́к своїх, а винні прине́сли в жертву барана́ з отари за прови́ну свою.	19 And they also consented that they would put away their wives; so they offered rams of the flock for their sins.

24 А з співакі́в: Ел'яшів. А з придве́рних: Шаллум, і Телем, та Урі.	24 And of the ministers, Elishah; and of the porters, Shallum, Etlam, and Udi.
