22 Но вы все подошли7126 ко мне и сказали:559 пошлем7971 пред3942 собою людей,582 чтоб они исследовали2658 нам землю776 и принесли7725 нам известие1697 о дороге,1870 по которой идти5927 нам, и о городах,5892 в которые идти935 нам.

23 Слово1697 это мне понравилось,31905869 и я взял3947 из вас двенадцать81476240 человек,582 по одному259 человеку376 от каждого колена.7626

24 Они пошли,6437 взошли5927 на гору2022 и дошли935 до долины5158 Есхол,812 и обозрели7270 ее;

25 и взяли3947 в руки3027 свои плодов6529 земли776 и доставили3381 нам, и принесли7725 нам известие1697 и сказали:559 хороша2896 земля,776 которую Господь,3068 Бог430 наш, дает5414 нам.

26 Но вы не захотели14 идти5927 и воспротивились4784 повелению6310 Господа,3068 Бога430 вашего,

Chapter 1

1 THESE are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel beyond the Jordan in the wilderness, in the low desert plain opposite the Red Sea, between Paran and Tophel and Lebanon and Hazeroth and Dizahab.

2 (There are eleven days' journey from Horeb to mount Seir to Rakim-gia.)

3 And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke to the children of Israel according to all that the LORD had given him in commandment concerning them;

4 After he had slain Sihon the king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, and Og the king of Mathnin, who dwelt in Astaroth and in Erdei,

5 Beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab; Moses began to explain this law, saying,

6 The LORD our God said to us in Horeb, You have dwelt long enough in this mountain;

7 Turn and set out on your journey, and go to the mountain of the Amorites, and to all the places round about it, in the low desert plain, in the mountain, in the lowland and in the south and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates.

8 Behold, I have given you the land before you; go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give to them and to their descendants after them.

9 And I said to you at that time, I am not able to bear you myself alone;

10 The LORD your God has multiplied you, and behold, you are this day as the stars of heaven in multitude.

11 (May the LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times as many more as you are, and bless you, as he has promised you!)

12 How can I myself bear alone your encumbrance and your burden and your strife?

13 Choose for yourselves wise men, who have understanding and are renowned among your tribes, and I will make them chiefs over you.

14 And you answered and said to me, The thing that you have spoken is good for us to do.

15 So I took the chiefs of your tribes, wise men and renowned, and made them chieftains over you, commanders over thousands and captains over hundreds and officers over fifty and officers over ten and scribes for your tribes.

16 And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between a man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.

17 You shall not be partial to persons in judgment; but you shall hear the small as well as the great; you shall not be afraid of the face of man, for the judgment is God's; and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it to me, and I will hear it.

18 And I commanded you at that time all the things that you should do.

19 And when we journeyed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which you saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came as far as Rakim-gia.

20 And I said to you, You have come to the mountain of the Amorites, which the LORD our God has given us.

21 Behold, the LORD your God has given the land before you; go up and possess it, as the LORD God of your fathers has said to you; fear not, neither be terrified.

22 Then all of you came near to me and said, Let us send men before us, and they shall spy out the land for us, and bring us word again and show us the way by which we must go up and the cities into which we shall come.

23 And the saying pleased me well; and I took twelve men of you, one man of each tribe;

24 And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came as far as the valley of Segola, and spied out the land.

25 And they took some of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down to us, and they brought us word again and said to us, It is a good land which the LORD our God does give to us.

26 But in spite of this, you would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God;

27 And you murmured in your tents and said, It is because the LORD hated us that he has brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

28 Whither shall we go up? Our brethren have discouraged our heart, tying, The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of giants there.

29 Then I said to you, Fear not, neither tremble of them.

30 The LORD your God, who goes before you, shall fight for you, just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;

31 And in the wilderness, where you saw how the LORD your God nourished you, just as a man nourishes his son, in all the way that you went, until you came to this place.

32 Yet in this thing you did not believe the LORD your God,

33 Who went in the way before you to prepare a place for you to encamp in it, in fire by night to show you by what way you should go, and in a cloud by day.

34 And the LORD heard the voice of your complaining, and was angry, and swore, saying,

35 Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see the good land which I swore to give to your fathers,

36 Except Caleb the son of Jophaniah; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land upon which he has trodden, and to his children, because he has wholly followed the LORD.

37 Also the LORD was angry with me on your account, saying, You also shall not go in thither.

38 But Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, he shall go in there; encourage him; for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

39 Moreover your little ones, who you said would be a prey, and your children, who in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, shall go in there, and to them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

40 But as for you, turn you and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea.

41 Then you answered and said to me, We have sinned against the LORD our God, we will go up and fight, just as the LORD our God commanded us. And when you had girded on every man his weapons of war, you were stirred up to go up into the mountain.

42 And the LORD said to me, Say to them, You shall not go up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest you be defeated before your enemies.

43 So I spoke to you; and you would not listen, and you rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the mountain.

44 And the Amorites, who dwelt in that mountain, came out against you and chased you as smoked-out bees do, and drove you away from Seir, as far as Hirmah.

45 Then you sat down and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice nor give ear to you.

46 So you remained in Rakim many days, according to the days that you remained there.

9 And I said to you at that time, I am not able to bear you myself alone;

10 The LORD your God has multiplied you, and behold, you are this day as the stars of heaven in multitude.

11 Господь,3068 Бог430 отцов1 ваших, да умножит3254 вас в тысячу505 крат6471 против3254 того, сколько вас теперь, и да благословит1288 вас, как Он говорил1696 вам:

11 (May the LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times as many more as you are, and bless you, as he has promised you!)

12 How can I myself bear alone your encumbrance and your burden and your strife?

13 Choose for yourselves wise men, who have understanding and are renowned among your tribes, and I will make them chiefs over you.

14 And you answered and said to me, The thing that you have spoken is good for us to do.

15 So I took the chiefs of your tribes, wise men and renowned, and made them chieftains over you, commanders over thousands and captains over hundreds and officers over fifty and officers over ten and scribes for your tribes.

16 И дал6680 я повеление6680 судьям8199 вашим в то время,6256 говоря:559 выслушивайте8085 братьев251 ваших и судите8199 справедливо,6664 как брата376 с братом,251 так и пришельца1616 его;

16 And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between a man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.

17 не различайте5234 лиц6440 на суде,4941 как малого,6996 так и великого1419 выслушивайте:8085 не бойтесь1481 лица6440 человеческого,376 ибо суд4941 — дело Божие;430 а дело,1697 которое для вас трудно,7185 доводите7126 до меня, и я выслушаю8085 его.

17 You shall not be partial to persons in judgment; but you shall hear the small as well as the great; you shall not be afraid of the face of man, for the judgment is God's; and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it to me, and I will hear it.

18 And I commanded you at that time all the things that you should do.

19 And when we journeyed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which you saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came as far as Rakim-gia.

20 И сказал559 я вам: вы пришли935 к горе2022 Аморрейской,567 которую Господь,3068 Бог430 наш, дает5414 нам;

20 And I said to you, You have come to the mountain of the Amorites, which the LORD our God has given us.

21 вот,7200 Господь,3068 Бог430 твой, отдает5414 тебе землю776 сию, иди,5927 возьми3423 ее во владение,3423 как говорил1696 тебе Господь,3068 Бог430 отцов1 твоих, не бойся3372 и не ужасайся.2865

21 Behold, the LORD your God has given the land before you; go up and possess it, as the LORD God of your fathers has said to you; fear not, neither be terrified.

28 Whither shall we go up? Our brethren have discouraged our heart, tying, The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of giants there.

29 И я сказал559 вам: не страшитесь6206 и не бойтесь3372 их;

29 Then I said to you, Fear not, neither tremble of them.

30 Господь,3068 Бог430 ваш, идет1980 перед3942 вами; Он будет3898 сражаться3898 за вас, как Он сделал6213 с вами в Египте,4714 пред глазами5869 вашими,

30 The LORD your God, who goes before you, shall fight for you, just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;

31 и в пустыне4057 сей, где, как ты видел,7200 Господь,3068 Бог430 твой, носил5375 тебя, как человек376 носит5375 сына1121 своего, на всем пути,1870 которым вы проходили1980 до пришествия935 вашего на сие место.4725

31 And in the wilderness, where you saw how the LORD your God nourished you, just as a man nourishes his son, in all the way that you went, until you came to this place.

32 Но и при этом1697 вы не верили539 Господу,3068 Богу430 вашему,

32 Yet in this thing you did not believe the LORD your God,

33 Который шел1980 перед3942 вами путем1870 — искать8446 вам места,4725 где остановиться2583 вам, ночью3915 в огне,784 чтобы указывать7200 вам дорогу,1870 по которой идти,3212 а днем3119 в облаке.6051

33 Who went in the way before you to prepare a place for you to encamp in it, in fire by night to show you by what way you should go, and in a cloud by day.

34 И Господь3068 услышал8085 слова69631697 ваши, и разгневался,7107 и поклялся,7650 говоря:559

34 And the LORD heard the voice of your complaining, and was angry, and swore, saying,

35 никто376 из людей582 сих, из сего злого7451 рода,1755 не увидит7200 доброй2896 земли,776 которую Я клялся7650 дать5414 отцам1 вашим;

35 Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see the good land which I swore to give to your fathers,

36 только2108 Халев,3612 сын1121 Иефонниин,3312 увидит7200 ее; ему дам5414 Я землю,776 по которой834 он проходил,1869 и сынам1121 его, за то, что он повиновался4390310 Господу.3068

36 Except Caleb the son of Jophaniah; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land upon which he has trodden, and to his children, because he has wholly followed the LORD.

37 И на меня прогневался599 Господь3068 за1558 вас, говоря:559 и ты не войдешь935 туда;8033

37 Also the LORD was angry with me on your account, saying, You also shall not go in thither.

38 Иисус,3091 сын1121 Навин,5126 который при3942 тебе, он войдет935 туда; его утверди,2388 ибо он введет5157 Израиля3478 во владение5157 ею;

38 But Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, he shall go in there; encourage him; for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

39 дети2945 ваши, о которых вы говорили,559 что они достанутся в добычу957 врагам, и сыновья1121 ваши, которые не знают3045 ныне3117 ни добра2896 ни зла,7451 они войдут935 туда, им дам5414 ее, и они овладеют3423 ею;

39 Moreover your little ones, who you said would be a prey, and your children, who in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, shall go in there, and to them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

40 а вы обратитесь6437 и отправьтесь5265 в пустыню4057 по дороге1870 к Чермному5488 морю.3220

40 But as for you, turn you and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea.

41 И вы отвечали6030 тогда и сказали559 мне: согрешили2398 мы пред Господом,3068 пойдем5927 и сразимся,3898 как повелел6680 нам Господь,3068 Бог430 наш. И препоясались2296 вы, каждый376 ратным4421 оружием3627 своим, и безрассудно1951 решились1951 взойти5927 на гору.2022

41 Then you answered and said to me, We have sinned against the LORD our God, we will go up and fight, just as the LORD our God commanded us. And when you had girded on every man his weapons of war, you were stirred up to go up into the mountain.

42 Но Господь3068 сказал559 мне: скажи559 им: не всходите5927 и не сражайтесь,3898 потому что нет Меня среди7130 вас, чтобы не поразили5062 вас враги341 ваши.

42 And the LORD said to me, Say to them, You shall not go up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest you be defeated before your enemies.

43 И я говорил1696 вам, но вы не послушали8085 и воспротивились4784 повелению6310 Господню3068 и по упорству2102 своему взошли5927 на гору.2022

43 So I spoke to you; and you would not listen, and you rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the mountain.

44 И выступил3318 против7125 вас Аморрей,567 живший3427 на горе2022 той, и преследовали7291 вас так, как делают6213 пчелы,1682 и поражали3807 вас на Сеире8165 до самой Хормы.2767

44 And the Amorites, who dwelt in that mountain, came out against you and chased you as smoked-out bees do, and drove you away from Seir, as far as Hirmah.

45 И возвратились7725 вы и плакали1058 пред3942 Господом:3068 но Господь3068 не услышал8085 вопля6963 вашего и не внял238 вам.

45 Then you sat down and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice nor give ear to you.

46 И пробыли3427 вы в Кадесе6946 много7227 времени,3117 сколько времени3117 вы там были.3427

46 So you remained in Rakim many days, according to the days that you remained there.
