1 Увы, город кровей, где вероломство всюду, город исполненный хищничества, из которого не выходит грабительство!

2 Слышите ли? удар бича и стук колес; и конь топочет, и колесница скачет.

3 Едет всадник с пламенным мечем, и с сверкающим копьем. И множество убитых, и груды трупов; и нет конца телам; спотыкаются о трупы их.

6 И забросаю тебя мерзостями, и обесславлю тебя, и выставлю тебя на позор.

7 Тогда все видящие тебя побегут от тебя, и скажут: `погибла Ниневия!` Кто пожалеет о ней? Где я найду утешителей для тебя?

9 Хуш и Египет были защитою, и конца не было рати; футийцы и ливияне приходили на помощь к тебе.

12 Все крепости твои будут как смоковница с ранними ягодами; лишь только тряхнут, упадут они в рот алчущему.

13 Вот народ твой {мавританцы} как женщины среди тебя; врагам твоим отворятся врата земли твоей; огонь пожрет затворы твои.

13 Behold,2009 your people5971 in the middle7130 of you are women:802 the gates8179 of your land776 shall be set wide6605 open6605 to your enemies:341 the fire784 shall devour398 your bars.1280

14 Черпай для себя воду на время осады; укрепляй крепости твои; пойди в грязь, и топчи глину; починивай обжигательные печи.
|
14 Draw7579 you waters4325 for the siege,4692 fortify2388 your strong4013 holds:4013 go935 into clay,2916 and tread7429 the mortar,2563 make strong2388 the brick kiln.4404

15 Но и тогда пожрет тебя огонь, рассечет тебя меч; пожрут тебя как саранча. Умножайся как саранча; умножайся как гусеница.

15 There8033 shall the fire784 devour398 you; the sword2719 shall cut3772 you off, it shall eat398 you up like the cankerworm:3218 make yourself many3513 as the cankerworm,3218 make yourself many3513 as the locusts.697

16 Купцов у тебя более, нежели звезд на небе, но саранча сия рассеется и улетит.
|
16 You have multiplied7235 your merchants7402 above the stars3556 of heaven:8064 the cankerworm3218 spoils,6584 and flees5775 away.

17 Князья твои как саранча, и воеводы твои как многоплодная, которая во время стужи в стенах гнездится, и как скоро взойдет солнце, улетает, и не узнаешь места ее, где она была.

17 Your crowned4502 are as the locusts,697 and your captains2951 as the great1462 grasshoppers,1462 which camp2583 in the hedges1448 in the cold7135 day,3117 but when the sun8121 rises2224 they flee5074 away, and their place4725 is not known3045 where335 they are.

18 Уснули пастыри твои, царь ассирийский; лежат вельможи твои; народ твой рассеян по горам, и никто не собирает.
|
18 Your shepherds7462 slumber,5123 O king4428 of Assyria:804 your nobles117 shall dwell7931 in the dust: your people5971 is scattered6340 on the mountains,2022 and no369 man gathers6908 them.

19 Нет врачевства для раны твоей; язва твоя разболелась. Все, слыша весть о тебе, рукоплещут о тебе; ибо кого не коснулось злодейство твое непрестанное?
