Chapter 22

1 AND it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham and said to him, Abraham. And he said, Behold, here I am.

2 And he said, Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of the Amorites; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains of which I will tell you.

3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning and saddled his ass and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son, and cut wood for the burnt offering and rose up and went to the place of which God had told him.

4 And on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place afar off.

5 And he said to his young men, You stay here with the ass, and I and the boy will go yonder to worship and return to you.

6 And Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it upon Isaac his son, and he took the fire in a container and a knife in his hand, and they went both of them together.

7 And Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, My father. And he answered. Here I am, my son. And Isaac said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?

8 And Abraham said, God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son. So they went both of them together.

9 And they came to the place of which God had told him; and Abraham built an altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

10 Then Abraham stretched forth his hand and took the knife to slay his son.

11 And the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said. Abraham! Abraham! And he said, Here am I.

12 And he said to him, Do not lay your hand on the boy, neither shall you harm him; for now I know that you are a man who reveres God, seeing that you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.

13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold a ram caught in a thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.

14 And Abraham called the name of that place Mariah-nekhzey, that is, the LORD will provide, as it is said to this day on this mountain, The LORD shall provide.

15 And the angel of the LORD called to Abraham from heaven a second time

16 And said, I have sworn by myself, says the LORD, for because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son, from me,

17 I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is on the sea shore; and your descendants shall inherit the lands of their enemies;

18 And by your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed because you have obeyed my voice.

19 So Abraham returned to his young men and they rose up and went together to Beer-sheba, and Abraham dwelt in Beer-sheba.

20 And it came to pass after these things that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah has also borne children to your brother Nahor:

21 Uz his first-born, Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,

22 And Khasar, Hazo, Pilrash, Jarlaph, and Bethuel.

23 And Bethuel begot Rebekah; these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother.

24 And his concubine, whose name was Romah, also bore Tebah, Gaham, Thahash, and Maachah.

1 После этих событий подверг Бог Авраама испытанию. «Авраам!» — позвал его Бог. «Да, Господи!» — ответил тот.

2 И Бог сказал: «Возьми своего сына, единственного своего, любимого тобой, Исаака, и иди с ним в землю Мориа. Принеси его там в жертву всесожжения на горе, которую Я укажу тебе».

3 Рано утром Авраам собрался в путь, оседлал осла своего, взял с собою двух своих слуг и Исаака, сына своего, и, нарубив для всесожжения дров, направился к месту, о котором говорил ему Бог.

4 На третий день пути Авраам увидел вдали это место.

5 «Останьтесь здесь, присмотрите за ослом, — сказал Авраам слугам своим, — а мы с сыном пройдем дальше, поклонимся Богу и вернемся к вам».

6 Взял Авраам дрова для всесожжения и положил их на плечи сына своего Исаака, а сам понес огонь и нож. И когда шли они вдвоем,

7 Исаак заговорил с Авраамом, отцом своим. «Отец!» — промолвил он. «Что, сын мой?» — отозвался Авраам. И тот спросил: «Есть у нас огонь и дрова, но где же агнец для всесожжения?»

8 «Сын мой! — сказал Авраам. — Бог уготовит Себе агнца для всесожжения». И шли они дальше вдвоем.

9 А когда они пришли на то место, которое указал ему Бог, Авраам поставил там жертвенник и разложил на нем дрова. Завершив приготовления, он связал Исаака, сына своего, и положил его на жертвенник, поверх дров.

10 Авраам уже взялся за нож, чтобы убить сына своего,

11 но в тот же миг ангел ГОСПОДЕНЬ воззвал к нему с неба: «Авраам! Авраам!» «Да», — откликнулся он.

12 «Не поднимай руки на юношу, — прозвучало повеление свыше, — не делай ему ничего худого! Теперь Я знаю, что почитаешь ты Бога: ради Меня не отказался ты пожертвовать сыном своим, своим единственным».

13 Оглянувшись, Авраам увидел позади себя барана, запутавшегося в зарослях рогами. Пошел Авраам, взял барана и принес его во всесожжение вместо сына своего.

14 Назвал он тогда то место «Яхве-Ирэ», ГОСПОДЬ предуготовит. Потому и по сей день говорят: «На горе ГОСПОДНЕЙ будет уготовано».

15 Ангел ГОСПОДЕНЬ вновь воззвал к Аврааму с неба:

16 «Вот что говорит ГОСПОДЬ: „Ты выдержал это испытание и не отказался отдать сына своего, своего единственного, а поэтому Я Самим Собою клянусь,

17 что щедро благословлю тебя и сделаю потомство твое многочисленным — как звезды на небе, как песок на морском берегу. Будут овладевать твои потомки твердынями врагов своих.

18 Потомство твое будет благословением для всех народов земли — и всё это потому, что послушался ты Меня“».

19 Авраам пришел к своим слугам и вместе с ними вернулся в Беэр-Шеву и долго жил там.

20 Вскоре после этого Авраам услышал, что Милька, жена его брата Нахора, тоже родила Нахору сыновей:

21 Уца — тот был первенец, и Буза, следующего за ним, и Кемуэля (отца Арама),

22 и Кеседа, Хазо, Пильдаша, Идлафа и Бетуэля

23 (Бетуэль был отцом Ревекки). Этих восьмерых детей родила Милька Нахору, брату Авраама.

24 Была у Нахора и наложница по имени Реума, она тоже родила ему детей: Теваха, Гахама, Тахаша и Мааху.

1 AND it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham and said to him, Abraham. And he said, Behold, here I am.

1 После этих событий подверг Бог Авраама испытанию. «Авраам!» — позвал его Бог. «Да, Господи!» — ответил тот.

2 And he said, Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of the Amorites; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains of which I will tell you.

2 И Бог сказал: «Возьми своего сына, единственного своего, любимого тобой, Исаака, и иди с ним в землю Мориа. Принеси его там в жертву всесожжения на горе, которую Я укажу тебе».

3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning and saddled his ass and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son, and cut wood for the burnt offering and rose up and went to the place of which God had told him.

3 Рано утром Авраам собрался в путь, оседлал осла своего, взял с собою двух своих слуг и Исаака, сына своего, и, нарубив для всесожжения дров, направился к месту, о котором говорил ему Бог.

4 And on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place afar off.

4 На третий день пути Авраам увидел вдали это место.

5 And he said to his young men, You stay here with the ass, and I and the boy will go yonder to worship and return to you.

5 «Останьтесь здесь, присмотрите за ослом, — сказал Авраам слугам своим, — а мы с сыном пройдем дальше, поклонимся Богу и вернемся к вам».

6 And Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it upon Isaac his son, and he took the fire in a container and a knife in his hand, and they went both of them together.

6 Взял Авраам дрова для всесожжения и положил их на плечи сына своего Исаака, а сам понес огонь и нож. И когда шли они вдвоем,

7 And Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, My father. And he answered. Here I am, my son. And Isaac said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?

7 Исаак заговорил с Авраамом, отцом своим. «Отец!» — промолвил он. «Что, сын мой?» — отозвался Авраам. И тот спросил: «Есть у нас огонь и дрова, но где же агнец для всесожжения?»

8 And Abraham said, God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son. So they went both of them together.

8 «Сын мой! — сказал Авраам. — Бог уготовит Себе агнца для всесожжения». И шли они дальше вдвоем.

9 And they came to the place of which God had told him; and Abraham built an altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

9 А когда они пришли на то место, которое указал ему Бог, Авраам поставил там жертвенник и разложил на нем дрова. Завершив приготовления, он связал Исаака, сына своего, и положил его на жертвенник, поверх дров.

10 Then Abraham stretched forth his hand and took the knife to slay his son.

10 Авраам уже взялся за нож, чтобы убить сына своего,

11 And the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said. Abraham! Abraham! And he said, Here am I.

11 но в тот же миг ангел ГОСПОДЕНЬ воззвал к нему с неба: «Авраам! Авраам!» «Да», — откликнулся он.

12 And he said to him, Do not lay your hand on the boy, neither shall you harm him; for now I know that you are a man who reveres God, seeing that you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.

12 «Не поднимай руки на юношу, — прозвучало повеление свыше, — не делай ему ничего худого! Теперь Я знаю, что почитаешь ты Бога: ради Меня не отказался ты пожертвовать сыном своим, своим единственным».

13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold a ram caught in a thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.

13 Оглянувшись, Авраам увидел позади себя барана, запутавшегося в зарослях рогами. Пошел Авраам, взял барана и принес его во всесожжение вместо сына своего.

14 And Abraham called the name of that place Mariah-nekhzey, that is, the LORD will provide, as it is said to this day on this mountain, The LORD shall provide.

14 Назвал он тогда то место «Яхве-Ирэ», ГОСПОДЬ предуготовит. Потому и по сей день говорят: «На горе ГОСПОДНЕЙ будет уготовано».

15 And the angel of the LORD called to Abraham from heaven a second time

15 Ангел ГОСПОДЕНЬ вновь воззвал к Аврааму с неба:

16 And said, I have sworn by myself, says the LORD, for because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son, from me,

16 «Вот что говорит ГОСПОДЬ: „Ты выдержал это испытание и не отказался отдать сына своего, своего единственного, а поэтому Я Самим Собою клянусь,

17 I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is on the sea shore; and your descendants shall inherit the lands of their enemies;

17 что щедро благословлю тебя и сделаю потомство твое многочисленным — как звезды на небе, как песок на морском берегу. Будут овладевать твои потомки твердынями врагов своих.

18 And by your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed because you have obeyed my voice.

18 Потомство твое будет благословением для всех народов земли — и всё это потому, что послушался ты Меня“».

19 So Abraham returned to his young men and they rose up and went together to Beer-sheba, and Abraham dwelt in Beer-sheba.

19 Авраам пришел к своим слугам и вместе с ними вернулся в Беэр-Шеву и долго жил там.

20 And it came to pass after these things that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah has also borne children to your brother Nahor:

20 Вскоре после этого Авраам услышал, что Милька, жена его брата Нахора, тоже родила Нахору сыновей:

21 Uz his first-born, Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,

21 Уца — тот был первенец, и Буза, следующего за ним, и Кемуэля (отца Арама),

22 And Khasar, Hazo, Pilrash, Jarlaph, and Bethuel.

22 и Кеседа, Хазо, Пильдаша, Идлафа и Бетуэля

23 And Bethuel begot Rebekah; these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother.

23 (Бетуэль был отцом Ревекки). Этих восьмерых детей родила Милька Нахору, брату Авраама.

24 And his concubine, whose name was Romah, also bore Tebah, Gaham, Thahash, and Maachah.
