2 Господь — ревнивый Бог! В гневе Своём Он виновным наказание несёт. Господь карает Своих врагов и гнев Его против них не утихает.
3 Господь долготерпелив, но также и могуществом велик! Он не оставит виновных без наказания; Он покажет силу Свою в вихре и буре. Когда Господь ступает, то облака словно пыль отлетают от ног Его.
4 Когда Он сурово порицает море, оно высыхает. Он также заставляет все реки пересохнуть, а Васан и Кармел увядают, и вянут цветы Ливана.
5 Пред Ним сотрясаются горы и тают холмы. Земля и все живущие на ней трепещут от страха, когда Он идёт.
6 Кто может устоять перед Его негодованием? Кто может вынести Его жестокий гнев? Как огонь разливается Его ярость, и скалы рушатся пред Ним.
7 Господь добр, Он — прибежище в скорбный день. Он заботится о тех, кто верует в Него.
8 Он уничтожит всех Своих врагов и словно потопом смоет их, повергнув их во тьму.
9 Ниневия, ты против Господа строила злые планы, но Он до основания уничтожит тебя, и никогда больше не будешь ты источником бед.
10 Ты будешь полностью уничтожена словно терновник, горящий под котлом, или как сухие сорняки в огне.
11 Из тебя, Ниневия, вышел тот, кто плетёт злые интриги против Господа и даёт никчёмные советы.
12 Так говорит Господь: «Народ Ассирии могуч, и воинов в его войске великое множество, но все они будут порублены и полностью уничтожены. Я заставлял Мой народ страдать, но больше Я этого делать не буду.
13 Теперь Я сниму ярмо с твоей шеи и разорву цепи, сковавшие тебя».
14 Царь Ассирии, Господь о тебе сказал: «У тебя не будет потомков, чтобы носить твоё имя. Я уничтожу резных идолов и отлитых из металла истуканов, которые стоят в домах твоих богов. Я приготовлю тебе могилу, потому что близок твой конец».
15 Взгляни, Иуда! По горам идёт тот, кто несёт благие вести, возвещая о мире! Празднуй свои праздники, Иуда, и исполняй то, что обещала ты. Никчёмные враги больше не придут, чтобы напасть на тебя, потому что все они уничтожены были.
