Chapter 1

1 Now there was1961 a certain259 man376 of4480 Ramathaim-zophim,7436 of mount4480 2022 Ephraim,669 and his name8034 was Elkanah,511 the son1121 of Jeroham,3395 the son1121 of Elihu,453 the son1121 of Tohu,8459 the son1121 of Zuph,6689 an Ephrathite.673

2 And he had two8147 wives;802 the name8034 of the one259 was Hannah,2584 and the name8034 of the other8145 Peninnah:6444 and Peninnah6444 had1961 children,3206 but Hannah2584 had no369 children.3206

3 And this1931 man376 went up5927 out of his city4480 5892 yearly4480 3117 3117 to worship7812 and to sacrifice2076 unto the LORD3068 of hosts6635 in Shiloh.7887 And the two8147 sons1121 of Eli,5941 Hophni2652 and Phinehas,6372 the priests3548 of the LORD,3068 were there.8033

4 And when the time3117 was1961 that Elkanah511 offered,2076 he gave5414 to Peninnah6444 his wife,802 and to all3605 her sons1121 and her daughters,1323 portions: 4490

5 But unto Hannah2584 he gave5414 a259 worthy639 portion;4490 for3588 he loved157 853 Hannah:2584 but the LORD3068 had shut up5462 her womb.7358

6 And her adversary6869 also1571 provoked3707 her sore,3708 for to5668 make her fret,7481 because3588 the LORD3068 had shut up5462 1157 her womb.7358

7 And as he did6213 so3651 year8141 by year,8141 when4480 1767 she went up5927 to the house4480 1004 of the LORD,3068 so3651 she provoked3707 her; therefore she wept,1058 and did not3808 eat.398

8 Then said559 Elkanah511 her husband376 to her, Hannah,2584 why4100 weepest1058 thou? and why4100 eatest398 thou not?3808 and why4100 is thy heart3824 grieved?7489 am not3808 I595 better2896 to thee than ten4480 6235 sons?1121

9 So Hannah2584 rose up6965 after310 they had eaten398 in Shiloh,7887 and after310 they had drunk.8354 Now Eli5941 the priest3548 sat3427 upon5921 a seat3678 by5921 a post4201 of the temple1964 of the LORD.3068

10 And she1931 was in bitterness4751 of soul,5315 and prayed6419 unto5921 the LORD,3068 and wept sore.1058 1058

11 And she vowed5087 a vow,5088 and said,559 O LORD3068 of hosts,6635 if518 thou wilt indeed look7200 7200 on the affliction6040 of thine handmaid,519 and remember2142 me, and not3808 forget7911 853 thine handmaid,519 but wilt give5414 unto thine handmaid519 a man376 child,2233 then I will give5414 him unto the LORD3068 all3605 the days3117 of his life,2416 and there shall no3808 razor4177 come5927 upon5921 his head.7218

12 And it came to pass,1961 as3588 she continued7235 praying6419 before6440 the LORD,3068 that Eli5941 marked8104 853 her mouth.6310

13 Now Hannah,2584 she1931 spoke1696 in5921 her heart;3820 only7535 her lips8193 moved,5128 but her voice6963 was not3808 heard:8085 therefore Eli5941 thought2803 she had been drunken.7910

14 And Eli5941 said559 unto413 her, How5704 long4970 wilt thou be drunken?7937 put away5493 853 thy wine3196 from4480 5921 thee.

15 And Hannah2584 answered6030 and said,559 No,3808 my lord,113 I am a woman802 of a sorrowful7186 spirit:7307 I595 have drunk8354 neither3808 wine3196 nor strong drink,7941 but have poured out8210 853 my soul5315 before6440 the LORD.3068

16 Count5414 not408 853 thine handmaid519 for6440 a daughter of Belial:1323 1100 for3588 out of the abundance4480 7230 of my complaint7879 and grief3708 have I spoken1696 hitherto.5704 6258

17 Then Eli5941 answered6030 and said,559 Go1980 in peace:7965 and the God430 of Israel3478 grant5414 thee853 thy petition7596 that834 thou hast asked7592 of4480 5973 him.

18 And she said,559 Let thine handmaid8198 find4672 grace2580 in thy sight.5869 So the woman802 went1980 her way,1870 and did eat,398 and her countenance6440 was1961 no3808 more5750 sad.

19 And they rose up in the morning early,7925 1242 and worshiped7812 before6440 the LORD,3068 and returned,7725 and came935 to413 their house1004 to Ramah:7414 and Elkanah511 knew3045 853 Hannah2584 his wife;802 and the LORD3068 remembered2142 her.

20 Wherefore it came to pass,1961 when the time3117 was come8622 about after Hannah2584 had conceived,2029 that she bore3205 a son,1121 and called7121 853 his name8034 Samuel,8050 saying, Because3588 I have asked7592 him of the LORD.4480 3068

21 And the man376 Elkanah,511 and all3605 his house,1004 went up5927 to offer2076 unto the LORD3068 853 the yearly3117 sacrifice,2077 and his vow.5088

22 But Hannah2584 went not up;5927 3808 for3588 she said559 unto her husband,376 I will not go up until5704 the child5288 be weaned,1580 and then I will bring935 him, that he may appear7200 853 before6440 the LORD,3068 and there8033 abide3427 forever.5704 5769

23 And Elkanah511 her husband376 said559 unto her, Do6213 what seemeth5869 thee good;2896 tarry3427 until5704 thou have weaned1580 him; only389 the LORD3068 establish6965 853 his word.1697 So the woman802 abode,3427 and gave her son suck3243 853 1121 until5704 she weaned1580 him.

24 And when834 she had weaned1580 him, she took him up5927 with5973 her, with three7969 bullocks,6499 and one259 ephah374 of flour,7058 and a bottle5035 of wine,3196 and brought935 him unto the house1004 of the LORD3068 in Shiloh:7887 and the child5288 was young.5288

25 And they slew7819 853 a bullock,6499 and brought935 853 the child5288 to413 Eli.5941

26 And she said,559 Oh994 my lord,113 as thy soul5315 liveth,2416 my lord,113 I589 am the woman802 that stood5324 by5973 thee here,2088 praying6419 unto413 the LORD.3068

27 For413 this2088 child5288 I prayed;6419 and the LORD3068 hath given5414 me853 my petition7596 which834 I asked7592 of4480 5973 him:

28 Therefore also1571 I595 have lent7592 him to the LORD;3068 as long3605 as834 he liveth3117 he1931 shall be1961 lent7592 to the LORD.3068 And he worshiped7812 the LORD3068 there.8033

5 Но Анне он давал двойную часть, потому что любил ее, хотя Господь закрыл ее чрево.

6 Оттого что Господь закрыл чрево Анны, ее соперница жестоко изводила и унижала ее.

7 Так продолжалось из года в год. Всякий раз, когда Анна ходила в дом Господа, соперница изводила ее, и та плакала и не ела.

8 Элкана говорил ей: — Анна, почему ты плачешь? Почему не ешь? Почему скорбит твое сердце? Разве я не значу для тебя больше, чем десять сыновей?

9 Однажды, когда они поели и попили в Шило, Анна встала. Священник Илий сидел у дверей храма Господа.

10 Скорбя душой, Анна горько плакала и молилась Господу.

11 Она дала обет, говоря: — О Господь Сил, если Ты только посмотришь на горе Своей служанки и вспомнишь меня, если не забудешь Свою служанку, но дашь ей сына, то я отдам его Господу на всю жизнь, и бритва никогда не коснется его головы.

12 Пока она молилась Господу, Илий следил за ее губами.

13 Анна молилась в сердце, ее губы двигались, но голоса слышно не было. Илий подумал, что она пьяна,

14 и сказал ей: — Долго ли ты еще будешь пьяной? Протрезвись от вина!

15 — Нет, мой господин, — ответила Анна, — я глубоко скорблю. Я не пила ни вина, ни пива. Я изливала душу перед Господом.

16 Не думай, что твоя служанка — нечестивая женщина; я молилась здесь из-за великой боли и печали.

17 Илий ответил: — Иди с миром, и пусть Бог Израиля даст тебе то, о чем ты Его просила.

18 Она сказала: — Пусть твоя служанка найдет расположение в твоих глазах. Затем она пошла своей дорогой, поела, и лицо ее уже больше не было печально.

19 На следующее утро они встали рано, поклонились Господу и пустились в обратный путь к себе домой, в Раму. Элкана лег со своей женой Анной, и Господь вспомнил про нее.

20 Через некоторое время Анна зачала и родила сына. Она назвала его Самуил, говоря: «Я назвала его так, потому что я просила его у Господа».

21 В следующий раз, когда Элкана вместе со всей своей семьей отправился принести жертву Господу и исполнить обет,

22 Анна не пошла. Она сказала мужу: — После того как ребенок будет отнят от груди, я отведу его в Шило, чтобы он предстал перед Господом. Он останется там жить навсегда.

23 — Поступай, как тебе угодно, — сказал ей муж. — Оставайся здесь, пока не отнимешь его от груди. И пусть Господь утвердит Свое слово. Она оставалась дома и кормила своего сына до тех пор, пока не отняла его от груди.

24 После того как он был отнят от груди, она повела мальчика в Шило. Анна взяла с собой трехлетнего быка, ефу муки и мех вина.

25 Заколов быка и взяв его, Анна с мальчиком пришли к Илию,

26 и она сказала ему: — Верно, как и то, что ты жив, мой господин, я — та самая женщина, которая стояла здесь, рядом с тобой, молясь Господу.

27 Я молилась об этом ребенке, и Господь дал мне то, о чем я Его просила.

28 Теперь я отдаю его Господу. Пусть он принадлежит Господу всю его жизнь. И он поклонился там Господу.

12 And it came to pass,1961 as3588 she continued7235 praying6419 before6440 the LORD,3068 that Eli5941 marked8104 853 her mouth.6310

13 Now Hannah,2584 she1931 spoke1696 in5921 her heart;3820 only7535 her lips8193 moved,5128 but her voice6963 was not3808 heard:8085 therefore Eli5941 thought2803 she had been drunken.7910

13 Анна молилась в сердце, ее губы двигались, но голоса слышно не было. Илий подумал, что она пьяна,

22 Анна не пошла. Она сказала мужу: — После того как ребенок будет отнят от груди, я отведу его в Шило, чтобы он предстал перед Господом. Он останется там жить навсегда.

23 And Elkanah511 her husband376 said559 unto her, Do6213 what seemeth5869 thee good;2896 tarry3427 until5704 thou have weaned1580 him; only389 the LORD3068 establish6965 853 his word.1697 So the woman802 abode,3427 and gave her son suck3243 853 1121 until5704 she weaned1580 him.

23 — Поступай, как тебе угодно, — сказал ей муж. — Оставайся здесь, пока не отнимешь его от груди. И пусть Господь утвердит Свое слово. Она оставалась дома и кормила своего сына до тех пор, пока не отняла его от груди.

24 And when834 she had weaned1580 him, she took him up5927 with5973 her, with three7969 bullocks,6499 and one259 ephah374 of flour,7058 and a bottle5035 of wine,3196 and brought935 him unto the house1004 of the LORD3068 in Shiloh:7887 and the child5288 was young.5288

26 и она сказала ему: — Верно, как и то, что ты жив, мой господин, я — та самая женщина, которая стояла здесь, рядом с тобой, молясь Господу.

27 For413 this2088 child5288 I prayed;6419 and the LORD3068 hath given5414 me853 my petition7596 which834 I asked7592 of4480 5973 him:

27 Я молилась об этом ребенке, и Господь дал мне то, о чем я Его просила.

28 Therefore also1571 I595 have lent7592 him to the LORD;3068 as long3605 as834 he liveth3117 he1931 shall be1961 lent7592 to the LORD.3068 And he worshiped7812 the LORD3068 there.8033

28 Теперь я отдаю его Господу. Пусть он принадлежит Господу всю его жизнь. И он поклонился там Господу.
