Chapter 11

2 For by it the elders4245 obtained3140 a good report.3140

3 Through faith4102 we understand3539 that the worlds165 were framed2675 by the word4487 of God,2316 so1519 that things which3588 are seen991 were not made1096 of things which do appear.5316

4 By faith4102 Abel6 offered4374 to God2316 a more excellent4119 sacrifice2378 than3844 Cain,2535 by which3739 he obtained3140 witness3140 that he was righteous,1342 God2316 testifying3140 of his gifts:1435 and by it he being dead599 yet2089 speaks.2980

5 By faith4102 Enoch1802 was translated3346 that he should not see1492 death;2288 and was not found,2147 because1360 God2316 had translated3346 him: for before4253 his translation3331 he had this testimony,3140 that he pleased2100 God.2316

6 But without5565 faith4102 it is impossible102 to please2100 him: for he that comes4334 to God2316 must1163 believe4100 that he is, and that he is a rewarder3406 of them that diligently1567 seek1567 him.

11 Through faith4102 also2532 Sara4564 herself846 received2983 strength1411 to conceive2602 seed,4690 and was delivered5088 of a child5088 when she was past3844 age,2244 because1893 she judged2233 him faithful4103 who had promised.1861

12 Therefore1352 sprang1080 there even2532 of one,1520 and him as good as dead,3499 so many as the stars798 of the sky3772 in multitude,4128 and as the sand285 which3588 is by the sea2281 shore5491 innumerable.382

13 These3778 all3956 died599 in faith,4102 not having received2983 the promises,1860 but having seen1492 them afar4207 off, and were persuaded3982 of them, and embraced782 them, and confessed3670 that they were strangers3581 and pilgrims3927 on1909 the earth.1093

14 For they that say3004 such5108 things declare1718 plainly1718 that they seek1934 a country.3968

15 And truly,3303 if1487 they had been mindful3421 of that country from where3739 they came1831 out, they might have2192 had2192 opportunity2540 to have returned.344

16 But now3570 they desire3713 a better2909 country, that is, an heavenly:2032 why1352 God2316 is not ashamed1870 to be called1941 their God:2316 for he has prepared2090 for them a city.4172

17 By faith4102 Abraham,11 when he was tried,3985 offered4374 up Isaac:2464 and he that had received324 the promises1860 offered4374 up his only3439 begotten3439 son,

18 Of whom3739 it was said,2980 That in Isaac2464 shall your seed4690 be called:2564

33 Who3739 through1223 faith4102 subdued2610 kingdoms,932 worked2038 righteousness,1343 obtained2013 promises,1860 stopped5420 the mouths4750 of lions.3023

34 Quenched4570 the violence1411 of fire,4442 escaped5343 the edge4750 of the sword,3162 out of weakness769 were made1743 strong,1743 waxed1096 valiant2478 in fight,4171 turned2827 to flight5437 the armies3925 of the aliens.245

35 Women1135 received2983 their dead3498 raised386 to life again:386 and others243 were tortured,5178 not accepting4327 deliverance;629 that they might obtain5177 a better2909 resurrection:386

36 And others2087 had2983 trial3984 of cruel mockings1701 and scourgings,3148 yes,1161 moreover1161 of bonds1199 and imprisonment:5438

37 They were stoned,3034 they were sawn4249 asunder,4249 were tempted,3985 were slain1722 with the sword:3162 they wandered4022 about4022 in sheepskins3374 and goatskins;122 1192 being destitute,5302 afflicted,2346 tormented;2558

3 Верою мы постигаем, что миры устроены словом Божиим, так что из невидимого возникло видимое.

4 Верою Авель принёс Богу жертву лучшую, чем Каин; ею получил свидетельство, что он праведен: о дарах его свидетельствовал Бог; и ею по смерти он продолжает говорить.

5 Верою Енох был переселён так, что не видел смерти, и не находили его, потому что переселил его Бог. Ибо до переселения своего он получил свидетельство, что угодил Богу.

6 А без веры невозможно угодить: ибо приходящий к Богу должен уверовать, что Он есть и ищущим Его Он воздает.

7 Верою Ной, получив откровение о том, что еще не было видимо, благоговея, построил ковчег для спасения дома своего; ею осудил он мир и стал наследником праведности по вере.

8 Верою Авраам повиновался призванию выйти в страну, которую он имел получить в наследие, и вышел, не зная, куда он идет.

9 Верою он поселился пришельцем в земле обетованной, как чужой, живя в шатрах, с Исааком и Иаковом, сонаследниками того же обещания.

10 Ибо он ожидал града, имеющего твердые основания, и которого художник и строитель Бог.

11 Верою и сама Сарра получила силу к принятию семени и не по времени возраста, потому что она почла верным Обещавшего.

12 Потому и от одного, и притом омертвелого, родилось так много, как много звёзд на небе и как бесчислен песок на берегу морском.

13 В вере умерли они все, не достигши исполнения обещаний, но издали их видели и приветствовали и исповедали, что они чужие и пришельцы на земле.

14 Ибо те, которые так говорят, показывают, что они ищут отечества.

15 И, если бы они вспоминали о том отечестве, из которого вышли, они имели бы время вернуться.

16 Но на самом деле они стремятся к лучшему, то есть к небесному. Потому Бог не стыдится их, чтобы называть Себя их Богом: ибо Он приготовил им град.

17 Верою Авраам, будучи искушаем, принёс в жертву Исаака, и получивший обещания приносил единородного;

18 ему было сказано: в Исааке наречётся тебе семя.

19 Он рассудил, что силен Бог и из мёртвых воскрешать, потому он и получил его обратно в предзнаменование.

20 Верою, и для будущего, благословил Исаак Иакова и Исава.

21 Верою Иаков, умирая, благословил каждого из сыновей Иосифа и поклонился Богу, опираясь на верх своего посоха.

22 Верою Иосиф, при кончине, упомянул об исходе сынов Израилевых и заповедал о костях своих.

23 Верою Моисей, по рождении, три месяца скрываем был родителями своими, потому что увидели они, что младенец прекрасен, и не устрашились повеления царя.

24 Верою Моисей, став взрослым, отказался называться сыном дочери фараона,

25 предпочтя страдать с народом Божиим, чем иметь временное наслаждение грехом,

26 поношение Христово почтя большим богатством, чем сокровища Египта; ибо он взирал на воздаяние.

27 Верою оставил он Египет, не убоявшись ярости царя: ибо он, словно видя Невидимого, был твёрд.

28 Верою совершил он Пасху и кропление кровью, чтобы истребитель первенцев не коснулся их.

29 Верою перешли они Чермное море, как по суше, на что покусившись, Египтяне были поглощены.

30 Верою пали стены Иерихона по семидневном обхождении.

31 Верою Раав блудница не погибла с непокорными, приняв разведчиков с миром.

32 И что еще скажу? Ибо не достанет мне времени, если я буду повествовать о Гедеоне, Вараке, Самсоне, Иеффае и Давиде и Самуиле и о пророках,

33 которые чрез веру покорили царства, творили правду, достигли обещаний, заградили уста львов,

34 угасили силу огня, избежали острия меча, приведены были в силу от немощи, стали крепкими на войне, отразили полки чужих.

35 Были женщины, получившие мертвых своих воскресшими. Другие же были замучены, отказавшись от освобождения, чтобы достигнуть лучшего воскресения.

36 Иные же испытали поругания и побои, а также узы и заключение,

37 были побиты камнями, подвергнуты пытке, перепилены, умерли от меча, провели жизнь в скитаниях в овечьих шкурах, в козьих кожах, терпя недостатки, тесноту, страдания:

38 те, которых мир не был достоин, блуждали по пустыням, по горам, по пещерам и отверстиям земли.

39 И все они, получив доброе свидетельство чрез веру, не вошли в обладание того, что было обещано,

40 потому что Бог предвидел о нас нечто лучшее, чтобы они не без нас достигли совершенства.

11 Верою и сама Сарра получила силу к принятию семени и не по времени возраста, потому что она почла верным Обещавшего.

12 Потому и от одного, и притом омертвелого, родилось так много, как много звёзд на небе и как бесчислен песок на берегу морском.

13 В вере умерли они все, не достигши исполнения обещаний, но издали их видели и приветствовали и исповедали, что они чужие и пришельцы на земле.

14 Ибо те, которые так говорят, показывают, что они ищут отечества.

15 And truly,3303 if1487 they had been mindful3421 of that country from where3739 they came1831 out, they might have2192 had2192 opportunity2540 to have returned.344

15 И, если бы они вспоминали о том отечестве, из которого вышли, они имели бы время вернуться.

16 But now3570 they desire3713 a better2909 country, that is, an heavenly:2032 why1352 God2316 is not ashamed1870 to be called1941 their God:2316 for he has prepared2090 for them a city.4172

16 Но на самом деле они стремятся к лучшему, то есть к небесному. Потому Бог не стыдится их, чтобы называть Себя их Богом: ибо Он приготовил им град.

36 Иные же испытали поругания и побои, а также узы и заключение,

39 И все они, получив доброе свидетельство чрез веру, не вошли в обладание того, что было обещано,

40 God2316 having provided4265 some5100 better2909 thing for us, that they without5565 us should not be made5048 perfect.5048

40 потому что Бог предвидел о нас нечто лучшее, чтобы они не без нас достигли совершенства.
