Chapter 3

1 Now the serpent5175 was more subtle6175 than any3605 beast2416 of the field7704 which834 the LORD3068 God430 had made.6213 And he said559 to the woman,802 Yes,637 3588 has God430 said,559 You shall not eat398 of every3605 tree6086 of the garden?1588

2 And the woman802 said559 to the serpent,5175 We may eat398 of the fruit6529 of the trees6086 of the garden:1588

3 But of the fruit6529 of the tree6086 which834 is in the middle8432 of the garden,1588 God430 has said,559 You shall not eat398 of it, neither3808 shall you touch5060 it, lest6435 you die.4191

4 And the serpent5175 said559 to the woman,802 You shall not surely die:4191

5 For God430 does know3045 that in the day3117 you eat398 thereof, then your eyes5869 shall be opened,6491 and you shall be as gods,430 knowing3045 good2896 and evil.7451

6 And when the woman802 saw7200 that the tree6086 was good2896 for food,3978 and that it was pleasant8378 to the eyes,5869 and a tree6086 to be desired2530 to make one wise,7919 she took3947 of the fruit6529 thereof, and did eat,398 and gave5414 also1571 to her husband376 with her; and he did eat.398

7 And the eyes5869 of them both8147 were opened,6491 and they knew3045 that they were naked;5903 and they sewed8609 fig8384 leaves5929 together, and made6213 themselves1992 aprons.2290

8 And they heard8085 the voice6963 of the LORD3068 God430 walking1980 in the garden1588 in the cool7307 of the day:3117 and Adam120 and his wife802 hid2244 themselves from the presence6440 of the LORD3068 God430 among8432 the trees6086 of the garden.1588

9 And the LORD3068 God430 called7121 to Adam,120 and said559 to him, Where335 are you?

10 And he said,559 I heard8085 your voice6963 in the garden,1588 and I was afraid,3372 because3588 I was naked;5903 and I hid2244 myself.

11 And he said,559 Who4310 told5046 you that you were naked?5903 Have you eaten398 of the tree,6086 whereof834 I commanded6680 you that you should not eat?398

12 And the man120 said,559 The woman802 whom834 you gave5414 to be with me, she gave5414 me of the tree,6086 and I did eat.398

13 And the LORD3068 God430 said559 to the woman,802 What4100 is this2063 that you have done?6213 And the woman802 said,559 The serpent5175 beguiled5377 me, and I did eat.398

14 And the LORD3068 God430 said559 to the serpent,5175 Because3588 you have done6213 this,2063 you are cursed779 above all3605 cattle,929 and above every3605 beast2416 of the field;7704 on your belly1512 shall you go,3212 and dust6083 shall you eat398 all3605 the days3117 of your life:2416

15 And I will put7896 enmity342 between996 you and the woman,802 and between996 your seed2233 and her seed;2233 it shall bruise7779 your head,7218 and you shall bruise7779 his heel.6119

16 To the woman802 he said,559 I will greatly multiply7235 your sorrow6093 and your conception;2032 in sorrow6089 you shall bring3205 forth3205 children;1121 and your desire8669 shall be to your husband,376 and he shall rule4910 over you.

17 And to Adam121 he said,559 Because3588 you have listened8085 to the voice6963 of your wife,802 and have eaten398 of the tree,6086 of which834 I commanded6680 you, saying,559 You shall not eat398 of it: cursed779 is the ground127 for your sake;5668 in sorrow6093 shall you eat398 of it all3605 the days3117 of your life;2416

18 Thorns6975 also and thistles1863 shall it bring6779 forth6779 to you; and you shall eat398 the herb6212 of the field;7704

19 In the sweat2188 of your face639 shall you eat398 bread,3899 till5704 you return7725 to the ground;127 for out of it were you taken:3947 for dust6083 you are, and to dust6083 shall you return.7725

20 And Adam120 called7121 his wife's802 name8034 Eve;2332 because3588 she was the mother517 of all3605 living.2416

21 To Adam120 also and to his wife802 did the LORD3068 God430 make6213 coats3801 of skins,5785 and clothed3847 them.

22 And the LORD3068 God430 said,559 Behold,2005 the man120 is become1961 as one259 of us, to know3045 good2896 and evil:7451 and now,6258 lest6435 he put7971 forth7971 his hand,3027 and take3947 also1571 of the tree6086 of life,2416 and eat,398 and live2425 for ever:5769

23 Therefore the LORD3068 God430 sent7971 him forth from the garden1588 of Eden,5731 to till5647 the ground127 from from where834 8033 he was taken.3947

24 So he drove1644 out the man;120 and he placed7931 at the east6924 of the garden1588 of Eden5731 Cherubim,3742 and a flaming3858 sword2719 which turned2015 every way, to keep8104 the way of the tree6086 of life.2416

Chapter 3

1 NOW the serpent was more subtle than all the wild beasts that the LORD God had made. And the serpent said to the woman, Truly has God said that you shall not eat of any tree of the garden?

2 And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of all the trees of the garden;

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.

4 And the serpent said to the woman, You shall not surely die;

5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be like gods, knowing good and evil.

6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and that the tree was delightful to look at, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and she also gave to her husband with her; and he did eat.

7 Then the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day; and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

9 And the LORD God called to Adam, and said to him, Where are you, Adam?

10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and when I saw that I was naked, I hid myself.

11 And the LORD God said to him, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?

12 And Adam said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the fruit of the tree, and I did eat.

13 And the LORD God said to the woman, What is this that you have done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

14 And the LORD God said to the serpent, Because you have done this thing, cursed are you above all cattle, and above all beasts of the field; on your belly shall you go, and dust shall you eat all the days of your life;

15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your posterity and her posterity; her posterity shall tread your head under foot, and you shall strike him in his heel.

16 To the woman he said, I will greatly multiply your pain and your conception; in pain you shall bring forth children, and you shall be dependent on your husband, and he shall rule over you.

17 And to Adam he said, Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat of it, cursed is the ground for your sake; in sorrow shall you eat the fruits of it all the days of your life;

18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to you; and you shall eat the herb of the field;

19 In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread, until you return to the ground; out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust shall you return.

20 So Adam called his wife's name Eve because she was the mother of all living.

21 And the LORD God made for Adam and for his wife coats of skin, and clothed them.

22 Then the LORD God said, Behold, the man has become like one of us, to know good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever;

23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

24 So the LORD God drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the path to the tree of life.

12 And the man120 said,559 The woman802 whom834 you gave5414 to be with me, she gave5414 me of the tree,6086 and I did eat.398

12 And Adam said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the fruit of the tree, and I did eat.

13 And the LORD God said to the woman, What is this that you have done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

14 And the LORD God said to the serpent, Because you have done this thing, cursed are you above all cattle, and above all beasts of the field; on your belly shall you go, and dust shall you eat all the days of your life;

15 And I will put7896 enmity342 between996 you and the woman,802 and between996 your seed2233 and her seed;2233 it shall bruise7779 your head,7218 and you shall bruise7779 his heel.6119

15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your posterity and her posterity; her posterity shall tread your head under foot, and you shall strike him in his heel.

16 To the woman802 he said,559 I will greatly multiply7235 your sorrow6093 and your conception;2032 in sorrow6089 you shall bring3205 forth3205 children;1121 and your desire8669 shall be to your husband,376 and he shall rule4910 over you.

16 To the woman he said, I will greatly multiply your pain and your conception; in pain you shall bring forth children, and you shall be dependent on your husband, and he shall rule over you.

17 And to Adam he said, Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat of it, cursed is the ground for your sake; in sorrow shall you eat the fruits of it all the days of your life;

18 Thorns6975 also and thistles1863 shall it bring6779 forth6779 to you; and you shall eat398 the herb6212 of the field;7704

18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to you; and you shall eat the herb of the field;

19 In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread, until you return to the ground; out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust shall you return.

20 And Adam120 called7121 his wife's802 name8034 Eve;2332 because3588 she was the mother517 of all3605 living.2416

20 So Adam called his wife's name Eve because she was the mother of all living.

21 To Adam120 also and to his wife802 did the LORD3068 God430 make6213 coats3801 of skins,5785 and clothed3847 them.

21 And the LORD God made for Adam and for his wife coats of skin, and clothed them.

22 Then the LORD God said, Behold, the man has become like one of us, to know good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever;

23 Therefore the LORD3068 God430 sent7971 him forth from the garden1588 of Eden,5731 to till5647 the ground127 from from where834 8033 he was taken.3947

23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

24 So he drove1644 out the man;120 and he placed7931 at the east6924 of the garden1588 of Eden5731 Cherubim,3742 and a flaming3858 sword2719 which turned2015 every way, to keep8104 the way of the tree6086 of life.2416

24 So the LORD God drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the path to the tree of life.
