Der Brief des Paulus an die Römer

Kapitel 11

1 So sage3004 ich1473 nun: Hat683 denn1063 GOtt2316 sein1096 Volk2992 verstoßen? Das sei ferne3361! Denn ich bin1510 auch2532 ein Israelit von1537 dem Samen4690 Abrahams11, aus dem Geschlecht5443 Benjamin958.

2 GOtt2316 hat683 sein Volk2992 nicht3756 verstoßen, welches er zuvor versehen hat683. Oder wisset1492 ihr nicht3756, was5101 die3739 Schrift1124 sagt3004 von1722 Elia2243, wie5613 er tritt1793 vor GOtt2316 wider2596 Israel2474 und spricht3004:

3 HErr2962, sie haben2212 deine4675 Propheten4396 getötet615 und2532 haben deine4675 Altäre2379 ausgegraben; und2504 ich bin5275 allein3441 überblieben, und2532 sie stehen mir3450 nach meinem Leben5590?

4 Aber235 was5101 sagt3004 ihm846 die3748 göttliche5538 Antwort? Ich2578 habe2641 mir1683 lassen überbleiben siebentausend2035 Mann435, die nicht3756 haben2578 ihre Kniee1119 gebeuget vor dem Baal896.

5 Also3779 gehet‘s auch2532 jetzt3568 zu1722 dieser Zeit2540 mit diesen Überbliebenen nach2596 der Wahl1589 der Gnaden5485.

6 Ist‘s2076 aber1161 aus1537 Gnaden5485, so1161 ist‘s2076 nicht3765 aus1537 Verdienst der Werke2041, sonst1893 würde Gnade5485 nicht3765 Gnade5485 sein1096. Ist‘s aber1487 aus Verdienst der Werke2041, so ist die Gnade5485 nichts3765, sonst1893 wäre Verdienst nicht Verdienst.

7 Wie denn1161 nun3767? Was5101 Israel2474 sucht1934, das3739 erlangt es nicht3756; die5127 Wahl1589 aber1161 erlanget es. Die andern3062 sind verstockt4456,

8 wie2531 geschrieben1125 stehet: GOtt2316 hat191 ihnen gegeben1325 einen erbitterten Geist4151, Augen3788, daß2250 sie846 nicht3361 sehen991, und2532 Ohren3775, daß sie nicht3361 hören191, bis2193 auf den heutigen Tag4594.

9 Und2532 David1138 spricht3004: Laß1096 ihren846 Tisch5132 zu einem Strick3803 werden1096 und2532 zu einer Berückung und2532 zum Ärgernis4625 und2532 ihnen846 zur Vergeltung.

10 Verblende4654 ihre Augen3788, daß sie846 nicht3361 sehen991, und2532 beuge4781 ihren846 Rücken3577 allezeit1275.

11 So sage3004 ich nun: Sind4417 sie846 darum angelaufen, daß2443 sie846 fallen4098 sollten3863? Das sei ferne! Sondern235 aus ihrem Fall3900 ist den Heiden1484 das Heil4991 widerfahren1096, auf1519 daß3361 sie denen nacheifern sollten3863.

12 Denn so2532 ihr846 Fall3900 der Welt2889 Reichtum4149 ist, und1161 ihr846 Schade2275 ist der Heiden1484 Reichtum4149, wieviel4214 mehr3123, wenn1487 ihre846 Zahl voll4138 würde?

13 Mit euch5213 Heiden1484 rede3004 ich1473; denn1063 dieweil ich der3303 Heiden1484 Apostel652 bin1510, will ich mein3450 Amt1248 preisen1392,

14 ob ich4458 möchte3863 die846, so mein3450 Fleisch4561 sind, zu1537 eifern reizen und2532 ihrer etliche5100 selig machen4982.

15 Denn1063 so ihr846 Verlust der Welt2889 Versöhnung2643 ist, was5101 wäre das anders, denn1487 das Leben2222 von1537 den Toten3498 nehmen?

16 Ist der Anbruch536 heilig40, so1487 ist auch2532 der Teig5445 heilig40, und1161 so1487 die Wurzel4491 heilig ist, so2532 sind auch2532 die Zweige2798 heilig.

17 Ob1536 aber1161 nun etliche von den Zweigen2798 zerbrochen sind1575, und1161 du4771, da du ein wilder Ölbaum65 warest, bist5607 unter sie gepfropfet und2532 teilhaftig4791 worden der Wurzel4491 und2532 des846 Safts4096 im1722 Ölbaum1636,

18 so1487 rühme2620 dich4571 nicht3361 wider2620 die Zweige2798. Rühmest du4771 dich aber1161 wider2620 sie, so sollst du wissen, daß du die Wurzel4491 nicht3756 trägest, sondern235 die Wurzel4491 träget dich.

19 So sprichst2046 du3767: Die Zweige2798 sind zerbrochen, daß2443 ich1473 hineingepfropfet würde1461.

20 Ist2476 wohl2573 geredet. Sie sind zerbrochen um ihres Unglaubens570 willen; du4771 stehest aber1161 durch den Glauben4102. Sei5309 nicht3361 stolz, sondern235 fürchte5399 dich.

21 Hat5339 GOtt2316 der2596 natürlichen5449 Zweige nicht3756 verschonet, daß1487 er vielleicht dein4675 auch3381 nicht3761 verschone.

22 Darum schaue die Güte5544 und2532 den3303 Ernst663 Gottes2316: den Ernst663 an1909 denen, die gefallen sind4098, die Güte5544 aber1161 an1909 dir4571, soferne du1492 an der Güte5544 bleibest; sonst1893 wirst du3767 auch2532 abgehauen werden1581.

23 Und1161 jene, so2532 sie846 nicht3362 bleiben1961 in dem1565 Unglauben570, werden1461 sie eingepfropfet werden1461; GOtt2316 kann2076 sie wohl wieder3825 ein pfropfen.

24 Denn1063 so1487 du4771 aus dem Ölbaum65, der3778 von1537 Natur5449 wild war1581, bist1461 ausgehauen und2532 wider2596 die Natur5449 in1519 den guten Ölbaum2565 gepfropfet, wieviel4214 mehr3123 werden1461 die natürlichen5449 eingepfropfet in ihren eigenen2398 Ölbaum1636!

25 Ich5124 will2309 euch5209 nicht3756 verhalten, liebe Brüder80, dieses Geheimnis3466, auf575 daß3363 ihr nicht50 stolz5429 seid1096. Blindheit4457 ist1525 Israel2474 einesteils widerfahren, so3754 lange, bis die1438 Fülle4138 der3739 Heiden1484 eingegangen sei5600,

26 und2532 also3779 das ganze3956 Israel2474 selig4982 werde, wie2531 geschrieben1125 stehet: Es wird4506 kommen2240 aus575 Zion4622, der da erlöse und2532 abwende654 das gottlose Wesen763 von1537 Jakob2384.

27 Und2532 dies3778 ist mein Testament1242 mit ihnen846, wenn3752 ich ihre846 Sünden266 werde weg nehmen.

28 Nach dem Evangelium2098 halte ich sie für Feinde2190 um euretwillen5209; aber1161 nach der3303 Wahl1589 habe ich sie lieb27 um der Väter3962 willen.

29 Gottes2316 Gaben5486 und1063 Berufung2821 mögen ihn nicht2532 gereuen278.

30 Denn1063 gleicherweise, wie auch2532 ihr5210 nicht habt1653 geglaubet an GOtt2316, nun3568 aber1161 habt1653 ihr Barmherzigkeit überkommen über ihrem Unglauben543,

31 also3779 auch2532 jene haben544 jetzt3568 nicht wollen glauben544 an die846 Barmherzigkeit1656, die euch5212 widerfahren ist, auf daß2443 sie3778 auch2532 Barmherzigkeit überkommen1653.

32 Denn1063 GOtt2316 hat4788 alles3956 beschlossen unter den Unglauben543, auf1519 daß2443 er sich1653 aller3956 erbarme.

33 O welch eine Tiefe899 des2532 Reichtums4149, beide, der Weisheit4678 und2532 Erkenntnis1108 Gottes2316! Wie5613 gar unbegreiflich419 sind seine846 Gerichte2917 und2532 unerforschlich421 seine846 Wege3598!

34 Denn1063 wer5101 hat des HErrn2962 Sinn3563 erkannt1097? Oder2228 wer5101 ist sein Ratgeber4825 gewesen1096?

35 Oder2228 wer5101 hat4272 ihm846 etwas zuvor gegeben, das ihm846 werde wieder vergolten?

36 Denn3754 von1537 ihm846 und2532 durch1223 ihn846 und2532 zu1519 ihm846 sind alle3956 Dinge. Ihm846 sei Ehre1391 in1519 Ewigkeit165! Amen281.

Chapter 11

1 I SAY, then, has God rejected his people? Far be it. For I also am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

2 God has not rejected his people which he foreknew. Do you not know what the scripture says of Elijah? How he complained to God against Israel, saying,

3 My LORD, they have killed your prophets and have demolished your altars; and I am left alone; and they seek my life.

4 And it was said to him in a vision: Behold I have reserved for myself seven thousand men, who have not knelt on their knees to worship Baal.

5 Even so at the present time a remnant is preserved, elected by the grace.

6 And if by grace, then it is not by works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if by works, then it is not by grace: otherwise work is no more work.

7 What then? Israel has not obtained that which he sought; but the elected ones have obtained it, and the rest were blinded in their hearts.

8 As it is written, God has given them a stubborn spirit, eyes that cannot see, and ears that cannot hear, to this very day.

9 And David said, Let their table become a snare, and a trap and a stumblingblock, and a recompense unto them.

10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and let their backs be bowed down always.

11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? Far be it. But rather by their stumbling salvation has come to the Gentiles, in order to make them zealous.

12 Now if their stumbling has resulted in riches to the world, and their condemnation in riches to the Gentiles; how much more is their restoration?

13 It is to you Gentiles that I speak, inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, and perhaps magnify my ministry:

14 But if I am able to make those who are my flesh zealous, I may thus save some of them.

15 And if their rejection has resulted in reconciliation of the world, how much more will their restoration be? Indeed it will be life from the dead.

16 For if the first fruit is holy, the rest of the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches.

17 And if some of the branches were cut off, and you who are a branch of a wild olive tree have been grafted in their place, and you have become a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

18 Do not boast over the branches. For if you boast, it is not you who sustains the root, but the root sustains you.

19 Perhaps you may say, The branches were cut off that I might be grafted in their place.

20 Well; they were cut off because of their unbelief, but you exist by faith. Be not highminded, but fear God.

21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, it may well be he will not spare you.

22 Consider therefore the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but on you, goodness, if you continue in his goodness: otherwise you also will be cut off.

23 And even they, if they do not abide in their unbelief, will be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.

24 For if you who have been cut from the wild olive tree, which is natural to you, and grafted contrary to your nature to become a good olive tree: how much more fruitful would they be, if they were grafted into their natural olive tree?

25 I am desirous, my brethren, that you should know this mystery, so that you may not be wise in your own conceits; for blindness of heart has to some degree befallen Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles shall come in.

26 And then all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, A deliverer shall come out of Zion, and he shall remove ungodliness from Jacob:

27 And then they shall have the same covenant from me, when I have forgiven their sins.

28 Now according to the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But according to election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.

29 For God does not withdraw his gift and his call.

30 Just as you were formerly disobedient to God and have now obtained mercy because of their disobedience,

31 Likewise, they are also disobedient now to the mercy which is upon you, that there may be mercy upon them also.

32 For God has included all men in disobedience, that he might have mercy on every man.

33 O the depth of the riches, the wisdom, and the knowledge of God! for no man has searched his judgment, and his ways are inscrutable.

34 For who has known the mind of the LORD? or who has been his counsellor?

35 Or who has first given to him and then received from him?

36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to him be glory and blessing, for ever and ever. Amen.

9 And David said, Let their table become a snare, and a trap and a stumblingblock, and a recompense unto them.

10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and let their backs be bowed down always.

11 So sage3004 ich nun: Sind4417 sie846 darum angelaufen, daß2443 sie846 fallen4098 sollten3863? Das sei ferne! Sondern235 aus ihrem Fall3900 ist den Heiden1484 das Heil4991 widerfahren1096, auf1519 daß3361 sie denen nacheifern sollten3863.

12 Now if their stumbling has resulted in riches to the world, and their condemnation in riches to the Gentiles; how much more is their restoration?

13 Mit euch5213 Heiden1484 rede3004 ich1473; denn1063 dieweil ich der3303 Heiden1484 Apostel652 bin1510, will ich mein3450 Amt1248 preisen1392,

13 It is to you Gentiles that I speak, inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, and perhaps magnify my ministry:

14 ob ich4458 möchte3863 die846, so mein3450 Fleisch4561 sind, zu1537 eifern reizen und2532 ihrer etliche5100 selig machen4982.

14 But if I am able to make those who are my flesh zealous, I may thus save some of them.

15 Denn1063 so ihr846 Verlust der Welt2889 Versöhnung2643 ist, was5101 wäre das anders, denn1487 das Leben2222 von1537 den Toten3498 nehmen?

17 And if some of the branches were cut off, and you who are a branch of a wild olive tree have been grafted in their place, and you have become a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

18 Do not boast over the branches. For if you boast, it is not you who sustains the root, but the root sustains you.

19 So sprichst2046 du3767: Die Zweige2798 sind zerbrochen, daß2443 ich1473 hineingepfropfet würde1461.

19 Perhaps you may say, The branches were cut off that I might be grafted in their place.

21 Hat5339 GOtt2316 der2596 natürlichen5449 Zweige nicht3756 verschonet, daß1487 er vielleicht dein4675 auch3381 nicht3761 verschone.

21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, it may well be he will not spare you.

22 Darum schaue die Güte5544 und2532 den3303 Ernst663 Gottes2316: den Ernst663 an1909 denen, die gefallen sind4098, die Güte5544 aber1161 an1909 dir4571, soferne du1492 an der Güte5544 bleibest; sonst1893 wirst du3767 auch2532 abgehauen werden1581.

22 Consider therefore the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but on you, goodness, if you continue in his goodness: otherwise you also will be cut off.

23 Und1161 jene, so2532 sie846 nicht3362 bleiben1961 in dem1565 Unglauben570, werden1461 sie eingepfropfet werden1461; GOtt2316 kann2076 sie wohl wieder3825 ein pfropfen.

23 And even they, if they do not abide in their unbelief, will be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.

24 Denn1063 so1487 du4771 aus dem Ölbaum65, der3778 von1537 Natur5449 wild war1581, bist1461 ausgehauen und2532 wider2596 die Natur5449 in1519 den guten Ölbaum2565 gepfropfet, wieviel4214 mehr3123 werden1461 die natürlichen5449 eingepfropfet in ihren eigenen2398 Ölbaum1636!

24 For if you who have been cut from the wild olive tree, which is natural to you, and grafted contrary to your nature to become a good olive tree: how much more fruitful would they be, if they were grafted into their natural olive tree?

25 Ich5124 will2309 euch5209 nicht3756 verhalten, liebe Brüder80, dieses Geheimnis3466, auf575 daß3363 ihr nicht50 stolz5429 seid1096. Blindheit4457 ist1525 Israel2474 einesteils widerfahren, so3754 lange, bis die1438 Fülle4138 der3739 Heiden1484 eingegangen sei5600,

28 Nach dem Evangelium2098 halte ich sie für Feinde2190 um euretwillen5209; aber1161 nach der3303 Wahl1589 habe ich sie lieb27 um der Väter3962 willen.

28 Now according to the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But according to election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.

29 Gottes2316 Gaben5486 und1063 Berufung2821 mögen ihn nicht2532 gereuen278.

29 For God does not withdraw his gift and his call.

30 Denn1063 gleicherweise, wie auch2532 ihr5210 nicht habt1653 geglaubet an GOtt2316, nun3568 aber1161 habt1653 ihr Barmherzigkeit überkommen über ihrem Unglauben543,

30 Just as you were formerly disobedient to God and have now obtained mercy because of their disobedience,

31 also3779 auch2532 jene haben544 jetzt3568 nicht wollen glauben544 an die846 Barmherzigkeit1656, die euch5212 widerfahren ist, auf daß2443 sie3778 auch2532 Barmherzigkeit überkommen1653.

31 Likewise, they are also disobedient now to the mercy which is upon you, that there may be mercy upon them also.

32 Denn1063 GOtt2316 hat4788 alles3956 beschlossen unter den Unglauben543, auf1519 daß2443 er sich1653 aller3956 erbarme.

32 For God has included all men in disobedience, that he might have mercy on every man.
