撒母耳記下

第20章

1 在那裏恰巧有一個彼列之子［man of Belial］，名叫示巴，是便雅憫人比基利的兒子。他吹號［trumpet］，說：「我們與大衛無分，與耶西的兒子無涉；以色列［Israel］哪，你們各回各家去吧。」

2 於是以色列人都離開大衛，跟隨比基利的兒子示巴。但猶大人從約旦河直到耶路撒冷，都緊緊跟隨他們的王。

3 大衛王來到耶路撒冷，進了宮殿，就把從前留下看守宮殿的十個妃嬪禁閉在冷宮，養活她們，不與她們親近。她們如同寡婦被禁，直到死的日子。

4 王對亞瑪撒說：「你要在三日之內將猶大人招聚了來，你也回到這裏來。」

5 亞瑪撒就去招聚猶大人，卻耽延過了王所限的日期。

6 大衛對亞比篩說：「現在恐怕比基利的兒子示巴加害於我們比押沙龍更甚。你要帶領你主的僕人追趕他，免得他得了堅固城，躲避我們。」

7 約押的人和基利提人、比利提人，並所有的勇士，都跟著亞比篩，從耶路撒冷出去追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

8 他們到了基遍的大磐石那裏，亞瑪撒來迎接他們。那時約押穿著戰衣，腰束佩刀的帶子，刀在鞘內；約押前行，刀從鞘內掉出來。

9 約押左手拾起刀來，對亞瑪撒說：「我兄弟，你好啊。」就用右手抓住亞瑪撒的鬍子，要與他親嘴。

10 亞瑪撒沒有防備約押手裏所拿的刀；約押用刀刺入他的肚腹，他的腸子流在地上，沒有再刺他，就死了。約押和他兄弟亞比篩往前追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

11 有約押的一個少年人站在亞瑪撒屍身旁邊，對眾人說：「誰喜悅約押，誰歸順大衛，就當跟隨約押去。」

12 亞瑪撒在道路上滾在自己的血裏。那人見眾民經過都站住，就把亞瑪撒的屍身從路上挪到田間，用衣服遮蓋。

13 屍身從路上挪移之後，眾民就都跟隨約押去追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

14 他走遍以色列各支派直到亞伯［unto Abel］，又到伯．瑪迦［and to Beth-maachah］，並比利人的全地；那些地方的人也都聚集跟隨他。

15 約押和跟隨的人到了伯．瑪迦的亞比拉，圍困示巴，就對著城築壘，壘就立在壕中［and it stood in the trench］；跟隨約押的眾民用錘撞城，要使城塌陷。

16 有一個聰明婦人從城上呼叫說：「聽啊，聽啊，請約押近前來，我好與他說話。」

17 約押就近前來，婦人問他說：「你是約押不是？」他說：「我是。」婦人說：「求你聽婢女的話。」約押說：「我聽。」

18 婦人說：「古時有常［wont］話，說：『當先在亞比拉求問，然後事就定妥。』

19 我在以色列是和平、忠厚人中的一個［I [am one of them that are] peaceable [and] faithful in Israel］；你尋索要毀壞這城、滅絕在以色列的母［thou seekest to destroy a city and a mother in Israel］；你為何要［why wilt thou］吞滅耶和華的產業呢？」

20 約押回答說：「我決不吞滅毀壞，

21 乃因以法蓮山地的一個人─比基利的兒子示巴─舉手攻擊大衛王，你們若將他一人交出來，我便離城而去。」婦人對約押說：「看哪［Behld］，那人的首級必從城牆上丟給你。」

22 婦人就憑她的智慧去勸眾人。他們便割下比基利的兒子示巴的首級，丟給約押。約押吹號［trumpet］，眾人就離城而散，各歸各家去了。約押回耶路撒冷，到王那裏。

23 約押作以色列全軍的元帥；耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅統轄基利提人和比利提人；

24 亞多蘭掌管服苦的人；亞希律的兒子約沙法作史官；

25 示法作書記；撒督和亞比亞他作祭司長；

26 睚珥人以拉作大衛的宰相。

2 Samuel

Chapter 20

1 AND there happened to be there a wicked man, whose name was Shamoa, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite; and he blew a trumpet and said, We have no portion in David, neither have we an inheritance with the son of Jesse; every man to his tents, O Israel!

2 So all the men of Israel ceased from following David, and followed Shamoa, the son of Bichri; but the men of Judah remained loyal to the king from the Jordan to Jerusalem.

3 And David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines whom he had left to keep his house and put them in custody and fed them, but did not go in unto them. So they were shut up to the day of their death, and were like widows.

4 Then said the king to Amasa, Assemble me the men of Judah within three days, and you yourself be present.

5 So Amasa went to assemble the men of Judah; but he tarried longer than the set time which had been appointed.

6 And David said to Joab, Now Shamoa the son of Bichri will do us more harm than did Absalom; take your lord's servants and pursue him, lest he find him fortified cities, and stay in them and incite a revolt against us.

7 And there went out after him Joab's men, the noblemen and the army and all the mighty men; and they went out from Jerusalem to pursue Shamoa, the son of Bichri.

8 When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa came before them. And Joab was wearing armor, and upon it was a girdle with a sword fastened upon his loins in its sheath; and as Amasa appeared, Joab placed his hand upon his sword.

9 And Joab said to Amasa, Peace be with you, my brother. And Joab took Amasa by the beard with his hand to kiss him.

10 But Amasa took no notice of the sword that was in Joab's hand; so Joab smote him with it in the middle of his body, and let out his bowels to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died. So Joab and Abishai his brother pursued Shamoa, the son of Bichri.

11 And one of Joab's men went and stood by Amasa, and said to those who passed by, To whom do you belong? Are you of the men of David who are after Joab?

12 And Amasa wallowed in his blood, lying in the highway. And when the man saw that all the people stopped to look at him, he dragged Amasa out of the highway and threw him into a field and cast a garment over him, when he saw that every one who came by him stopped.

13 When he was dragged out of the highway, all the people went on after Joab, to pursue Shamoa, the son of Bichri.

14 And they went through all the tribes of Israel to Abel and to Beth-maachah and to Berin; and they went after him.

15 And they came and besieged him in Abel and in Beth-maachah, and they set ambushes against the city, and the city was in distress; and all the people who were with Joab battered the wall to throw it down.

16 Then a wise woman cried out from the wall, saying, Hear, hear, and say to Joab, Come near, that I may speak to you.

17 And when he was come near to her, she said to him, Are you Joab? And he answered, I am he. Then she said to him, Hear the words of your maidservant. And he answered, I do hear.

18 Then she said, They used to say in old time, They first inquire of the prophets, then they destroy.

19 I am of those who have suffered the pangs of childbirth in Israel; you seek to destroy a child and his mother in Israel; why will you swallow up the heritage of the LORD?

20 And Joab answered and said to her, Far be it from me that I should swallow up or destroy.

21 The matter is not so; but a man of mount Ephraim, Shamoa, the son of Bichri by name, has lifted up his hand against King David; deliver him alive to me and I will depart from the city. And the woman said to Joab, Now his head shall be thrown to you over the wall.

22 Then the woman went to all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Shamoa, the son of Bichri, and threw it out over the wall to Joab. And Joab blew the trumpet, and they withdrew from the city and departed every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king.

23 Now Joab was in command of all the army of Israel; and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was in command of the freedmen and the laborers,

24 And Adoniram was in charge of the tribute, and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was the recorder,

25 And Sheriah was the scribe, and Zadok and Abiathar were the priests.

26 And also Aza of Jathir was a priest to David.

Chapter 20

2 於是以色列人都離開大衛，跟隨比基利的兒子示巴。但猶大人從約旦河直到耶路撒冷，都緊緊跟隨他們的王。

2 So all the men of Israel ceased from following David, and followed Shamoa, the son of Bichri; but the men of Judah remained loyal to the king from the Jordan to Jerusalem.

3 大衛王來到耶路撒冷，進了宮殿，就把從前留下看守宮殿的十個妃嬪禁閉在冷宮，養活她們，不與她們親近。她們如同寡婦被禁，直到死的日子。

3 And David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines whom he had left to keep his house and put them in custody and fed them, but did not go in unto them. So they were shut up to the day of their death, and were like widows.

4 Then said the king to Amasa, Assemble me the men of Judah within three days, and you yourself be present.

5 So Amasa went to assemble the men of Judah; but he tarried longer than the set time which had been appointed.

6 大衛對亞比篩說：「現在恐怕比基利的兒子示巴加害於我們比押沙龍更甚。你要帶領你主的僕人追趕他，免得他得了堅固城，躲避我們。」

6 And David said to Joab, Now Shamoa the son of Bichri will do us more harm than did Absalom; take your lord's servants and pursue him, lest he find him fortified cities, and stay in them and incite a revolt against us.

7 約押的人和基利提人、比利提人，並所有的勇士，都跟著亞比篩，從耶路撒冷出去追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

7 And there went out after him Joab's men, the noblemen and the army and all the mighty men; and they went out from Jerusalem to pursue Shamoa, the son of Bichri.

8 他們到了基遍的大磐石那裏，亞瑪撒來迎接他們。那時約押穿著戰衣，腰束佩刀的帶子，刀在鞘內；約押前行，刀從鞘內掉出來。

8 When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa came before them. And Joab was wearing armor, and upon it was a girdle with a sword fastened upon his loins in its sheath; and as Amasa appeared, Joab placed his hand upon his sword.

9 約押左手拾起刀來，對亞瑪撒說：「我兄弟，你好啊。」就用右手抓住亞瑪撒的鬍子，要與他親嘴。

9 And Joab said to Amasa, Peace be with you, my brother. And Joab took Amasa by the beard with his hand to kiss him.

10 亞瑪撒沒有防備約押手裏所拿的刀；約押用刀刺入他的肚腹，他的腸子流在地上，沒有再刺他，就死了。約押和他兄弟亞比篩往前追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

10 But Amasa took no notice of the sword that was in Joab's hand; so Joab smote him with it in the middle of his body, and let out his bowels to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died. So Joab and Abishai his brother pursued Shamoa, the son of Bichri.

11 有約押的一個少年人站在亞瑪撒屍身旁邊，對眾人說：「誰喜悅約押，誰歸順大衛，就當跟隨約押去。」

11 And one of Joab's men went and stood by Amasa, and said to those who passed by, To whom do you belong? Are you of the men of David who are after Joab?

12 亞瑪撒在道路上滾在自己的血裏。那人見眾民經過都站住，就把亞瑪撒的屍身從路上挪到田間，用衣服遮蓋。

12 And Amasa wallowed in his blood, lying in the highway. And when the man saw that all the people stopped to look at him, he dragged Amasa out of the highway and threw him into a field and cast a garment over him, when he saw that every one who came by him stopped.

13 屍身從路上挪移之後，眾民就都跟隨約押去追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

13 When he was dragged out of the highway, all the people went on after Joab, to pursue Shamoa, the son of Bichri.

14 他走遍以色列各支派直到亞伯［unto Abel］，又到伯．瑪迦［and to Beth-maachah］，並比利人的全地；那些地方的人也都聚集跟隨他。

14 And they went through all the tribes of Israel to Abel and to Beth-maachah and to Berin; and they went after him.

15 約押和跟隨的人到了伯．瑪迦的亞比拉，圍困示巴，就對著城築壘，壘就立在壕中［and it stood in the trench］；跟隨約押的眾民用錘撞城，要使城塌陷。

15 And they came and besieged him in Abel and in Beth-maachah, and they set ambushes against the city, and the city was in distress; and all the people who were with Joab battered the wall to throw it down.

16 有一個聰明婦人從城上呼叫說：「聽啊，聽啊，請約押近前來，我好與他說話。」

16 Then a wise woman cried out from the wall, saying, Hear, hear, and say to Joab, Come near, that I may speak to you.

17 約押就近前來，婦人問他說：「你是約押不是？」他說：「我是。」婦人說：「求你聽婢女的話。」約押說：「我聽。」

17 And when he was come near to her, she said to him, Are you Joab? And he answered, I am he. Then she said to him, Hear the words of your maidservant. And he answered, I do hear.

18 婦人說：「古時有常［wont］話，說：『當先在亞比拉求問，然後事就定妥。』

18 Then she said, They used to say in old time, They first inquire of the prophets, then they destroy.
